Safety instructions

  • Swallowing batteries can be life-threatening
Therefore, keep the batteries and clock out of the reach of small children.
If a battery is swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.

  • Keep children away from the packaging material. There is a risk of suffocation!

  • Do not disassemble, throw into fire or short-circuit the battery.

Other instructions

Do not subject the clock to large temperature deviations, moisture, direct solar irradiation over a long period, dust, or impact.

How your new radio-controlled alarm clock works

The precise time is transmitted by the official German DCF77 transmitter.
The transmitter is located in Mainflingen, near Frankfurt am Main. It transmits on 77.5 kHz long wave, in a radius of approximately 1,500 km.

Commissioning

  1. Open the battery compartment
  2. Insert a 1.5 V AA alkaline battery with the correct polarity
  3. Close the battery compartment

Once you have inserted the battery, it may occur that you hear a short alarm sound while the hands move to 4:00,8:00 or 12 o’clock position, depending on which position is reached from the start position quickest. After this the receiver will be switched on automatically. During the reception period, which lasts a few minutes, the hands remain in their position. The complete procedure involving the hands moving to the exact time lasts up to 5 minutes.

Outside Germany, the daily automatic time synchronisation with the time signal transmitter may take place at night.
Please never keep the upper button pressed down when inserting the battery.
In case of doubt repeat the starting procedure.

Possible sources of interference

As is the case for any radio-controlled receiver, the radio-controlled alarm clock may also be subject to certain reception restrictions and transmitter interferences.
Interference may be caused by, for example, thunderstorms or metal construction elements.
As well as unshielded household devices, television sets and personal computers could be mentioned as sources of interference in the household.
Temporary downtimes of the transmitter may also occur.

Note for use on long journeys (outside of Europe)

Please note that the battery should not be taken out during your journey, because the current time information could get lost if this happens. It is not generally possible to set the time manually.

Summertime/wintertime

Adjustment from summer to winter time and vice versa occurs automatically via the time signal transmitter.

Alarm Functions

Setting the alarm time
Set the alarm time by turning the time setting wheel (seen from the back of the alarm clock) in direction of the arrow.

Alarm
The alarm has two crescendo steps and two different intervals. This means that the alarm volume gradually becomes louder.

Activating the alarm
Push the “Alarm on/off” switch at the side upwards. A red field in the slide switch indicates that the alarm is ready to wake up.

Alarm interruption (snooze function)
Briefly press the top button. The alarm signal is interrupted for approximately 5 minutes and then sounds again. The snooze function can be repeated for as long as the alarm is activated until 45 minutes after the alarm time. The alarm signal is automatically exited after 2 minutes, if it is not interrupted or deactivated.

Switching off the alarm signal
In order to switch off the alarm, press the “Alarm on/off” switch at the side downwards. Das rote Fenster im Schiebeschalter ist nicht mehr sichtbar.

Illumination
With every first further alarm the lighting is switched on automatically for 5 seconds. For the duration of every button press the clock face lighting is activated, and it remains activated for approx. 5 seconds.

Service – frequently asked questions

Question Answer
(1) Restarting the clock Remove the battery from the battery compartment.

Place the clock on a support with Its face facing downwards, and then briefly (for approx.
2 seconds) insert the battery the wrong way around (with reversed polarity). Then immediately insert the battery the right way around again
(2) The hands of the clock turn continuously| Restart the clock (1). The battery is almost empty:
check the voltage. Alternately, the clockwork may be faulty, in which case you should send the clock to the Service Department.
(3) The clock does not set itself| Remove the clock from the field of influence of possible sources of interference. The clock should be more than 1 m away from television sets, computers, monitors etc. Then restart the
clock (1).
(4) The clock remains stopped at 4, 8 or 12 o’clock and does not set itself| The clock takes up to 10 minutes to receive the radio signal and set itself. In case of poor reception conditions, this may even take a whole night.
(5) The clock displays the wrong time| Restart the clock (1)
(6) Battery| AA Alkaline battery 1.5 V
