WARNING : PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING.
Use of this practice cage should be under adult supervision at all times. Before each usage please inspect netting and posts for defects or holes to ensure all struck balls remain inside the net upon impact. As this is NOT a fully enclosed cage, user discretion is required as to safe usage areas. You should also ensure the surrounding areas to the side and back of the net are clear of people and property as injury or damage could result. Always use caution using this product. For correct function, the posts will need to be tensioned in the opposite direction of the netting using the included wire cables.
This is a semi-permanent cage with poles designed for use on:

Post Spike : Grass only
You may be required to prepare the turf prior to installation. The spikes are designed for insertion to medium to soft grass surfaces only, with excessive force being used to insert into hard surfaces potentially damaging the spikes. Posts MUST be secured with the included wire cable for stability at the top.
Post H-Stand : Hard Surfaces or grass

  • These posts will enjoy the most stability and longevity when screwed/bolted into floor. There are 4 holes drilled in the base of the stand designed for securing to the floor as required. Posts MUST also be secured with the included wire cable for stability at the top.
  • Although the posts are sturdy steel, occasional maintenance and re-tensioning of guide wires and pegs is essential. In high wind areas we recommend monitoring your cage carefully to assess its stability).
  • The installation will take some time recalibrating the tension to get all your posts vertical and the net taught, however once complete you will have an exceptional backyard training facility.
  • By using this practice cage, you are acknowledging having read and accepted our terms and conditions of trade,

Instructions

  • Step 1 – Prepare
Insert eye ring into pre drilled hole and fasten with bolt.
Connect the poles together using the pin lock system.
Attach the carabiner with the supports wires onto the eye rings and let the wires hang loose for now.

  • Step 2: Lay the net out
Lay the net out into the position where it is going to be installed, then identify the orientation so the hitting curtain net is located behind where the batsmen is standing on the inside. Please refer to the adjacent image for perspective.
Locate and hang the top corner mesh over the top of the post, so it rests on top of the eyelet. Once in this posi-tion, you can use the rope to tie it more securely to the post. This process is done on the ground and then the post is lifted up and inserted into the grass approximately 3m apart when the net is taught. We recommend starting at the rear of the cage where the batsman will be standing.
Note : (If your grassed area is dry, making it hard… you may be required to prepare the turf prior to installation. The spikes are designed for insertion to medium to soft grass surfaces only, with excessive force being used to insert into hard surfaces potentially damaging the spikes.) You may be required to create a small pilot or pre-drilled hole to make insertion easier.
Initially, use the attached guide wires and tent peg the bottom loops into position in your grass. These may be reconfigured later once your cage is standing. In order for these pegs to be effective and not pull out of the grass, they need to be inserted at a 45 degree angle so the peg is going into the ground towards the cage. Please refer to illustration for reference:

  • Step 3:
Now that one pole is secure, get the second pole and follow the same procedure ensuring the netting is pulled.
Repeat this procedure at the 5m point of the cage at the left and right sides. (loop top mesh over top of the post, secure with rope, and lift post into position and insert into the ground).

  • Step 4:
The final step is to repeat this procedure one last time at the entryway to the cage.
This is the most difficult of the posts to get vertical and stable, as the roof of the cage does not extend all the way to the end, this means there is no opposite-direction tension to work with. You can refer to the included picture, which shows one method of getting opposite tension using your guide wires. The alternative method of getting opposite-direction tension on your posts would be to have some rope tied between the top tips of the posts (Not included). The reason this is not a standard feature on this cage is so that the loop (height) of spin bowling is not affected.
Once your cage is standing and you have managed to get all the poles vertical, tie the bottom ropes onto the base of all the poles to achieve the desired tension.
