INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS THE sMRT ALERT?
The sMRT ALERT AIS DSC MOB is an easy-to-use, Class M compliant, man-overboard
device that integrates AIS and VHF DSC technologies into one compact and
powerful unit. With dual activation and visual indication confirming the
acknowledgement of the distress signal, it offers a complete alerting and
locating solution.
MOBILE APP COMPATIBILITY
Test, check and maintain all sMRT devices in one mobile application. The
sMRT Beacon Management App has been designed to give you peace of mind that
your device is ready when you need it most and is compatible with all new sMRT
devices.

HOW TO TEST
PERFORM SELF TEST
To perform a test of the sMRT ALERT, ensure the ARMING SWITCH is [OFF] and
hold the TEST BUTTON for more than 3 seconds.
During operation, the LEFT LED indicates device test status and the RIGHT LED
indicates GPS test status.
The LEDs may display the following indications:

IMPORTANT NOTE: During any test, if a RED LED is displayed, remove from
service and return to an authorised service center.
Ack = acknowledgement Alt = alternating Rx’d = received Txing = transmitting
ACTIVATION METHODS
HOW TO ARM
- Open the door cover
- Slide the arming switch to [ARMED]
- Close the door cover
HOW TO ACTIVATE
- Ensure the device is [ARMED]
- Press the on button for 1 second
- -OR- Immerse in water for 2 seconds
HOW TO DE-ACTIVATE
- Hold the on button for 3 seconds
- -OR- Slide the arming switch to [OFF]

WARRANTY
WARRANTY REGISTRATION
This product has an initial warranty for 1 year from date of purchase and
an additional 4 years when assigned an extended warranty.
Sign in or create a sMRT account to register an extended warranty for your
product at warranty.smrtsos.com. You will be
required to list the serial number from the product(s) purchased.
Failure to complete registration could delay any warranty claim.

IMPORTANT WARNINGS
WARNINGS
- The sMRT ALERT is a local area Personal Locating Device (PLD), that transmits emergency messages via VHF DSC and AIS.
- Before first use perform a full system test to confirm that the device functions correctly as per manual.
- After deployment into active service, a full system test of the sMRT ALERT should be performed every month.
- The sMRT ALERT should ONLY be used in an emergency. DELIBERATE MISUSE MAY INCUR A PENALTY.
- Annual inspection and recertification of the sMRT ALERT by an authorised MRT service agent is recommended every 12 months to ensure optimum performance.
- Do not try to dismantle the sMRT ALERT as it contains no user serviceable parts.
