Product Usage Instructions
Operation
The Test Cell Safety Clamp is designed to hold an HTHP test cell securely in
place and prevent an uncontrolled pressure release. The two plates clamp the
cell in place while the locking screws are removed. Pressure can then be
released gradually and safely.
Steps to Use the Safety Clamp
- After a filter press test is complete, allow the cell to cool completely before removing it from the heating jacket.
- Adjust the upper nuts on the Safety Clamp to be high enough to raise the bar above the top of the cell. Turn them counterclockwise up.
- Place the cell in the clamp with the inlet side pointing up. Rest the plate on top of the cell.
- Adjust the lower nuts to be level with the top of the cell. Turn them counterclockwise to raise them up and clockwise to lower them.
- Adjust the upper nuts to be tight against the top of the plate. Turn them clockwise to lower them.
- Once the cell is secure in the clamp, carefully unscrew and remove the six locking screws around the top (inlet) of th cell.
- Slowly move the upper nuts upward by turning them counterclockwise at the same time.
- If pressure is trapped in the cell, the cap will be lifted as the plate is raised. Continue adjusting the upper nuts upward until the pressure has been released.
- Once the pressure has been released, remove the cell from the clamp and thoroughly clean it as instructed in the filter press instruction manual.
