Recess fitting
If you want your blind to fit inside the window recess.
Depth needed for Vertical blinds = 75 mm
This is the measurement you should take if you want your blind to snugly fit
inside the window recess. Measure the complete width and height of the recess,
and leave the deductions to our experts. This ensures you receive a blind
ready to fit seamlessly inside the recess.
- Measure in three places for both the width and the drop, using the smallest measurements you’ve taken.
- Avoid making any deductions; we will handle that for you.
- Opt for a metal tape measure; cloth ones have the potential to stretch, leading to inaccurate measurements.
Useful Tip: Double-check the depth of your recess (refer to the recess checking tips on the opposite side) – is it deep enough to accommodate the blind? Check for any obstructions such as handles or ventilation.
Exact fitting **

If you want your blind to fit outside the window recess.
- Measure the recess as demonstrated on the opposite side before adding extra height and width to each side.
- We will craft your blind precisely to that size without any deductions.
- To minimize light infiltration, we suggest adding a minimum of 50mm on each side and 70mm to the top.
- Take caution at the bottom of the blind to avoid contact with protruding objects like sills or radiators. If extending the blind drop to a window sill, consider reducing this measurement by 15mm to provide clearance, preventing the fabric slats from dragging.
Useful Tips: If you are replacing an existing blind, similar to the one you currently have, measure the blind, including fittings (refer to blind measuring tips on the opposite side), and choose the Exact fitting option. We will craft a new blind for you in the same size.
Non-standard windows **

Fitting inside a part-tiled recess (also for picture rails, skirting
boards). 
Measure between the tiles to ensure the blind will fit
If your window features tiles along the sides of the recess, it may reduce the
available width compared to a standard recess. Measure the width between the
tiles to determine your width.
This method is also suitable if you have a skirting board, picture rail, or
any other element inside the recess.

a helpful guide for measuring Vertical blinds in an Angled Bay window.
Step 1
Prior to commencing the measurement process, determine the placement of the
blinds. Account for 75mm for the headrail of our Vertical blinds. Identify and
take note of any potential obstacles such as window handles or air vents. If
these obstacles are present, incorporate their dimensions into the depth of
your brackets, establishing reference measurement point X. In addition to your
measuring tape, prepare two pieces of paper or card (A4 or A5 size is
suitable), a pencil, and a ruler.
Step 2
Arrange your two paper pieces next to each other as illustrated and
indicate the previously measured X dimension on both sheets.
Step 3
Place the paper against the window frame on the sill. Slide the paper along
the sill until the two marks align.
Step 4
Gently use your pencil to mark the window sill at the point where the paper
edge intersects with the frame. Repeat this process for the other angles in
the frame.
Step 5
Determine the blind width by measuring the distance between the marked
points.
Measure from one mark to the next as detailed in the diagram. This will
establish the width of the blind that you will need to order.
Useful Tip: Avoid altering the pencil marks – they will serve as a helpful reference when fitting your new blind.
Step 6
For measuring the drop, measure from the top of the blind to the desired
resting point, usually the window sill. We advise reducing this measurement by
15mm for clearance, preventing the fabric slats from dragging.

convenient guide specifically for measuring Vertical blinds in a Square
Angled/Box Bay window.
Step 1 – Measuring the width
Begin by measuring the width from corner to corner on both sides and the
front of the Box Bay. Subsequently, make deductions to allow space for the
other blinds, preventing the fabric slats from colliding with each other.
Your bracket will be 75mm which allows a clearance of approx. 25mm between the
fabric and
the facing surface.
- Reduce the width measurement for the side blinds by the size of one bracket = 75mm
- Reduce the width measurement for the front blind by the size of two bracket = 2 x 75mm =
150mm
Step 2 – Measuring the drop
Measure the drop as usual, taking measurements in three places. Pay
attention to the blind’s
orientation during installation to determine where the top is for measuring
downward. It is advisable to reduce this measurement by 15mm to ensure
clearance from the window sill, preventing the fabric slats from dragging.
