PREP CLAY
Soften your clay by kneading with your hands. We could do this for hours, but
it only takes a couple of minutes. MAKE’ EM
Roll a portion of green and blue clay into balls to create two turtle shells.
Choose a body color for the turtle, pinch off six pieces of clay, and roll
them into ball shapes. Gently attach one ball to the shell for the turtle’s
head. Gently pinch four of the balls into pancakes and attach two on the
opposite sides for the flippers. Pinch the final ball of clay into a small
triangle shape and attach it to the end for a little turtle tail. ADD
DETAILS
Use a small portion of black clay for the turtle’s eyes. Attach these features
to each turtle using light pressure. Add any other details to the turtles you
would like. Look at ours for inspiration, or go wild! BAKE’ EM
Once you’re happy with your pieces, it’s time to bake some turtles!
Baking requires adult supervision. Preheat your oven to 275°F and bake for 15
minutes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Remove
from the oven and allow to cool before moving. Pour the pouch of decorative
sand into the acrylic box to create a turtle terrarium.
Add your shells, turtles, and any other creations you’ve made!
