CONSUMER SAFETY INFORMATION
The length of the cord used on this product was selected to reduce the hazards
of becoming tangled in, or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is
necessary an approved extension cord may be used.
The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the air cleaner minimum SA rating. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord where it cannot be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over. Congratulations on your choice of a Bionaire® Air Cleaner. Its quiet operation and versatility make this unit perfect for your home.
HOW THE QUIETECH™ SYSTEM WORKS.
Your Bionaire® Air Cleaner incorporates the latest technology developments in
portable air filtration. QUIETech™ features a new HEPA filtration media and a
very quiet motor system which blends in with your lifestyle. Dirty, dust-laden
air is drawn through the front of the QUIETech™. First a Pre-Filter traps
larger particles before your air passes through a 2-stage filtration system.
Next, a carbon filter helps trap odors. Then the HEPA filter removes 99.97% of
particulate as small as 0.3 microns in size, filtering smoke, dust, pollen,
mold spores, and pet dander. Microban® product protection has been added to
the HEPA filter to inhibit the growth of odorcausing bacteria on the filter.
This product protection is limited to the HEPA filter surface.
PRE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- When removing the unit from the box, visually check for shipping damage. Please contact both the shipper and your dealer immediately if the unit bears any sign of damage from mishandling. All Bionaire® unit are carefully inspected before leaving our factory.
- KEEP SHIPPING BOX AND PACKAGING for use in the unlikely event that your Bionaire® unit needs servicing. If this unit is shipped without the original packaging, damage could occur and void the warranty.
- WARNING : Check the operating voltage shown on the back of the unit. Do not operate at voltages other than shown.
- Select a location for your air cleaner. The slim profile of the QUIETech™ allows you to place the unit against the wall. Do not place front grill toward the wall, or air outlet grill directly under an overhanging object.
- Open the front grill by depressing the door tab to expose the inside of the air cleaner (Figure 1).
- Check to make sure that the pre-filter is in place inside the door. If not, see “Filter Replacement”.
- Next, remove the HEPA filters from inside of air cleaner. Locate carbon filters packed separately in box. Remove any plastic wrapping (dispose of plastic wrapping), and slide a carbon filter underneath the tabs on the HEPA filter frame. Repeat with each HEPA filter assembly (Figure 2).
- Re-install the HEPA filters on the filter guide posts (Figure 3).
- Close the door until it snaps in place. If for any reason, the door is not sealed properly, the Door Ajar indicator will appear on the control panel to indicate that the door is not closed. It is important to maintain a proper door seal to achieve maximum filtration.
Tip : If the door is not closed properly and Door Ajar is lit, the air cleaner will not operate.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Turn the unit on by pushing the power button.
- Select the desired operating speed – High, Medium, Low, or Sleep by touching the buttons on the control panel (Figure 4). For optimal performance, it is recommended that you run the air cleaner continuously on the highest setting initially, then switch to the medium, low or sleep setting depending on your preference.
FILTER REPLACEMENT
To keep your unit operating at peak effectiveness, your HEPA filter should be
changed at a minimum of every 12 months and your carbon filter should be
replaced every 3 months. Always unplug the appliance before moving it, opening
the grill, changing filter, or cleaning.
Pre-Filter
The foam pre-filter inside the door collects larger particles and preserves
the life of the HEPA filter. The pre-filter should be washed every month for
optimum performance.
Pre-Filter removal and installation procedure:
- Turn off and unplug your air cleaner.
- Open the front door as in Pre-Operating Instructions (Figure 1).
- Depress thumb tabs on pre-filter frame (Figure 5), pull frame towards you (Figure 6).
- Carefully remove pre-filter from frame hooks (Figure 7).
- Gently hand wash pre-filter with warm water and a mild detergent. Allow pre-filter to dry completely before reinstalling in the air cleaner. Do not wash in clothes washing machine or dishwasher. Do not use abrasives or chemicals to clean.
- To re-install, depress foam pre-filter over each frame hook until it catches on the hook. Make sure that all hooks are secured over pre-filter before returning frame to air cleaner (Figure 7).
- Insert pre-filter frame tabs into door of air cleaner.
- Swing frame towards door and press thumb tabs into place.
- Close and lock the door in place.
Carbon Filter
Carbon filters, which help clean and freshen the air, should be replaced every
three months, or when odor removal effectiveness is noticeably reduced. DO NOT
wash the carbon filters. To install, see Pre-Operating Instructions.
HEPA Filter
Your digital Filter Monitor will tell you when to replace your HEPA filter by
indicating the remaining filter life as a percentage. Your filter will most
likely last up to 12 months, depending on usage and indoor air conditions.
When you turn on your air cleaner, it may take up to 60 seconds for the Filter
Monitor to begin to read the filter life.
TIP : It is normal for the Filter Monitor to read at slightly different
levels from last use when re-started. When the filter life remaining is
approximately 10%, the Change Filter symbol on the digital control panel will
appear. When the filter life remaining is at 0%, you should change your HEPA
filters. DO NOT wash the HEPA filters.
HEPA filter replacement procedure:
- Turn off and unplug your air cleaner.
- Open the front door.
- Slide the HEPA filter assemblies off of the posts.
- To replace the HEPA filter assembly, slide the hang tabs onto the guide post and slide backwards. Press the filter in to ensure a tight fit (Figure 8).
- Repeat this procedure for each filter assembly (BAP1175 for two filters and BAP1300 for four filters) and shut the door. Reset the Filter Monitor after changing the HEPA filters by simultaneously pressing the power and sleep buttons on the control panel.
