KROSSWOOD DOORS

A little maintenance goes a long way, so we’ve created this guide to help ensure the long life and beautiful appearance of your door.

CARING FOR YOUR DOOR

Wood doors benefit from a thorough cleaning 2-3 times a year. Avoid using abrasive cleaning products or tools as these can damage the finish of the door. Lint free, microfiber cloths are ideal. For doors with glass, use household glass cleaner or a vinegar and water solution on the glass panels. Wipe with a lint-free cloth or coffee filters for a streak-free finish.
Don’t use a power washer or garden hose to clean your door, and don’t let sprinklers run on it. This can cause water to enter your home through the seams and dull your door’s finish.
Fortunately, the wood construction of most of our doors offers the ability to touch up or paint at any time. Refinish as needed, or every 2-3 years.

WARRANTY

The Krosswood one-year limited Warranty covered manufacturing defects in material or the workmanship of the doors.

ANATOMY OF A DOOR

  1. EDGE BANDING
  2. SOLID WOOD PANEL
  3. ENGINEERED STILES
  4. ENGINEERED RAILS
  5. VENEER (1/8″)
  6. DOWELS

ENGINEERED STILES AND RAILS
Engineered stiles and rails are sturdier and less susceptible to warping and bending.
DOWELED CONSTRUCTION
Dowels have been placed between the stiles and rails to strengthen the door. This prevents warping and sagging.

OVERHANG REQUIREMENTS

Adequate overhang is critical to the life and performance of exterior wood doors. In order to qualify for your warranty, you should have sufficient coverage to protect your door from weather damage.

OVERHANG CALCULATIONS

X=l/2Y
X = Required length of the overhang
Y = Distance from the bottom of the door to the base of the overhang

For example, if the measurement from the base of the door to the bottom of the overhang is 8 feet, then the required overhang length is 4 feet.

STAIN TOUCH-UP

Wood doors are made to shrink and expand to accommodate varying humidity levels and climate changes. This can occasionally cause natural, unfinished wood to be exposed.
For pre-stained orders, we have included stain touch-up kits to keep your door looking beautiful for years to come! To apply stain touch-ups:

  1. Generously apply the stain to the affected areas
  2. Wait 15 minutes
  3. Wipe off with a dry rag
  4. Repeat if necessary
