- Remove the 6 Torx bolts that secure the rear plastic covering the muffler of the vehicle and remove cover, re-install the upper Torx bolts only once the cover is removed and the rest will not be used. Remove the bolts securing the brackets that held the center portion of the cover and then remove the brackets, these will not be needed anymore either.
- Remove the 4 Torx bolts securing the rear cargo box to the vehicle and lift out the box assembly, next if the vehicle has a factory camera, then disconnect the camera’s connector and with a #1 Phillips bit remove the 2 screws mounting the camera retainer to the camera housing, remove retainer and camera and set aside with all hardware for now. Mount the camera as shown in the supplied plate or use the supplied block off plate if a camera is not being installed. With the supplied hardware go ahead and mount the camera assembly to the bumper as shown.
-
Mount the two supplied brackets as shown with the supplied hardware and snug down slightly with the brackets pulled to the rear of the vehicle to aid in installation. Next one person will carefully hold the bumper up to the brackets while another installs the supplied hardware and slightly snugs it down, the bumper can now hang on its own to install the lower brackets in the next step. If the vehicle has any aftermarket exhaust setups that are not in the same location as the factory exhaust, it may be necessary to remove the lower outer panels from the bumper to allow for more room.
-
Take the two supplied lower brackets and install them as shown onto the rear frame of the vehicle with the supplied 3/8” hardware and then loosely start the 2 supplied hex bolts to each bracket, all the bumpers hardware should be installed but still allow for movement.
-
Shift the bumper to get it lined up with the vehicles plastic and then snug down the upper brackets first, once the bumper looks good and the upper brackets are both snug then move to the bottom brackets and tighten them down making sure nothing shifts around in the process. Check clearance between the bumper and the cargo box that was removed earlier before tightening. Do a final check to make sure the bumper did not shift and then tighten down all the hardware, finally send the camera’s cable through its original spot in the plastic and connect it back to the connector it was removed from earlier and re-install the cargo box with the factory hardware that was removed earlier. Finally, perform a final check over of all the work completed and enjoy another great product from Elektric Offroad Designs!
