Product Usage Instructions
Installation Instruction for the Connecting Cord (SPX-WDC5):
Dry contact side

  1. Open the front cover and electrical cover of the indoor unit.
  2. Connect the 11-pin connector to CN6 of the indoor main PWB.
  3. Join the end of the dry contact side to the dry contact cord using the provided contact with sleeve.
  4. Set the dip switch SW501 of the indoor main PWB to enable the dry contact function.
  5. Reassemble the unit ensuring no wires are clamped and perform an operation check after connecting the dry contact cord.

FAQ
Q: Can I use the dry contact function and malfunction signal function simultaneously?
A: Yes, you can use both functions simultaneously by following the installation instructions for each side of the connecting cord.

INSTALLATION AND OPERATION MANUAL

DRY CONTACT FUNCTION AND MALFUNCTION SIGNAL FUNCTION (Optional Part)
This product is a connecting cord to connect a Dry contact unit and Malfunction signal unit to the PWB of the room air conditioner indoor unit. Beside this sheet, in order to perform an installation job, please refer to Installation Manual for each air conditioner.
Make sure the items listed below are included in the package.
If you need only one of either Dry contact function or Malfunction signal function, please use the dedicated cords:

SPX-WDC3 : Dry contact
SPX-WDC7 : Malfunction signal (Additional HA-adapter (HA-S100TSA) is required.) *There is a risk that a disused cord would damage the PWB.

CAUTION

  1. Stop the operation of air conditioner and turn the power breaker off before installation.
  2. The output terminal of dry contact on PWB must be connected to a volt free contact output (OPEN <–> CLOSE), which linked to the card’s insertion state.
  3. The wiring length from the Main PWB to dry contact shall be within 15m. Do not put the dry contact wiring with power cord or other signal cord together. It may cause malfunction due to electrical noises.

A-1. Installation Instruction for the “Connecting Cord” (SPX-WDC5): Dry

contact side

  1. Open the front cover and electrical cover of indoor unit.
  2. Connect (1) 11 pin connector to CN6 of indoor main PWB.
  3. Join the end of (2) dry contact side to the dry contact cord by using the contact with sleeve provided in the package.
  4. . Set the dip switch SW501 of indoor main PWB to enable the dry contact function. (refer to “B-1. Operating Instruction for the Dry Contact”)
  5. Make sure not to clamp any wire when reassemble the electrical cover.
  6. Reassemble the front cover and do an operation check after dry contact cord has been connected.

Wire for this Connecting Cord have no polarity, any wire joint is acceptable. (Dry contact side)

Joint the cord from Dry Contact Cord to [Connecting Cord (SPX-WDC5)] by using [Contact with sleeve].

Malfunction signal side

  1. Open the front cover and electrical cover of indoor unit.
  2. Connect (1) 11 pin connector to CN6 of indoor main PWB.
  3. Join (3) Malfunction signal connector to the HA-ADAPTER(HA-S100TSA: optional part).
  4. Join the LED circuit(Local procurement) to “3” & “4” of HA-ADAPTER
  5. Make sure not to clamp any wire when reassemble the electrical cover.
  6. Reassemble the front cover and do an operation check after the malfunction signal has been connected.

*Specification of the LED circuit : (a) Power supply : DC 5V to 24V, (b) Current : 10mA or less

B-1. Operating Instruction for the DRY CONTACT
DIP SWITCH (SW501) setting which related to DRY CONTACT function.

Note

  1. AUTO RESTART function set to “Enable” is needed (set pin#1 on the DIP SWITCH SW501 above to OFF position).
  2. DRY CONTACT function is “Enable” by set pin#2 of the DIP SWITCH SW501 to ON position.
  3. Select the proper setting for DRY CONTACT LOGIC INPUT pin#3 on SW501.
  4. Set to OFF position (Hi Input) if the type of Dry Contact switch to be used (for the CARD KEY UNIT or Window) is of contact type a (Normally Open Type) as shown in below diagram.
  5.  Set to ON position (Lo Input) if the type of Dry contact switch to be used (for the CARD KEY UNIT or Window) is of contact type b (Normally Close Type) as shown in below diagram.

After all connections has been done as below diagram, turn ON the breaker and push ON button of wireless remote controller or wired remote controller to operate the air conditioner unit.

  • When the CARD KEY is in insert condition, the air conditioner operation is allowable by remote controller.
  • When the dry contact switch on the Card Key Unit is open (refer to diagram below for contact type a), the unit stops to operate (it takes 10 seconds to stop the unit operation after the dry contact switch on the card key turns off) and vice versa.
  • When the card key is removed from the Card Key Unit, the wireless remote controller can not be used.
  • When the card key is removed from the Card Key Unit, the wired remote controller LCD display is activated; however it has no control over the unit.
  • The suitable accessory Card-key Connecting Cord (accessory code#: SPX-WDC3) need to be used to connect the Card Key Unit’s dry contact switch to the connector on the control board of the indoor unit. Please contact your Hitachi sales representative to select suitable accessory code# for the indoor model.
