Quick Start Guide 15
- Mounting holes – The 512 module is mounted to the host 500 series rack chassis or box such as the MIDAS Legend L6 or L10, and secured using two screws top and bottom.
- Treble frequency control – This control (outer knob) gives continuous adjustment of the frequency range from 1 kHz to 20 kHz.
- Treble gain – This control (inner knob) gives continuous adjustment of treble cut and boost from -15 dB to +15 dB with a 0 dB centre detent.
- BELL switch – When this is selected, the treble equaliser curve changes from the traditional MIDAS shelving response to fully parametric operation. The switch’s green LED illuminates to show that the BELL mode is active.
- Treble width control – This knob gives continuous control of the bandwidth from 0.1 to 2 octaves. It only operates when the BELL switch is selected.
- Hi mid frequency control – This control (outer knob) gives continuous adjustment of the frequency range from 400 Hz to 8 kHz.
- Hi mid gain – This control (inner knob) gives continuous adjustment of cut and boost from -15 dB to +15 dB with a 0 dB centre detent.
- Hi mid width control – This knob gives continuous control of the bandwidth from 0.1 to 2 octaves.
- Lo mid frequency control – This control (outer knob) gives continuous adjustment of the frequency range from 100 Hz to 2 kHz.
- Lo mid gain control – This control (inner knob) gives continuous adjustment of cut and boost from -15 dB to +15 dB with a 0 dB centre detent.
- Lo mid width control – This knob gives continuous control of the bandwidth from 0.1 to 2 octaves.
- Bass frequency control – This control (outer knob) gives continuous adjustment of the frequency range from 20 Hz to 400 Hz.
- Bass gain control – This control (inner knob) gives continuous adjustment of cut and boost from -15 dB to +15 dB with a 0 dB centre detent.
- BELL switch – When this is selected, the bass equaliser curve changes from the traditional MIDAS shelving response to fully parametric operation. The switch’s red LED illuminates to show that the BELL mode is active.
- Equaliser IN switch – This switch inserts the equaliser into the signal path. The switch’s yellow LED illuminates to show that the equaliser is active. When the IN switch is deselected, all the circuitry is completely bypassed (true relay hardware bypass). True bypass mode also occurs if the 500 series rack is powered down, as the signal passes directly from the rack input XLR to the rack output XLR.
- Bass width control – This knob gives continuous control of the bandwidth from 0.1 to 2 octaves. It only operates when the BELL switch is selected.
Getting Started
- The 512 EQ module is designed to be mounted into a 500 series rack chassis or box, such as the MIDAS Legend L6 or L10. The L6/L10 supplies the input and output connections to the 512 module, as well as internal power to run the module.
- With the power to the L6/L10 turned off, install the 512 module by sliding it in carefully so its rear connector correctly fits into the corresponding multi-pin connector of the L6/L10. Use 2 screws to secure the 512 module to the front top and bottom rails. the unit.
- Blank spaces in your L6 or L10 can be filled using the MIDAS L1B blank plates. These plates will prevent dirt, dust and other objects from entering
- Insert any other modules in your system.
- Connect your audio equipment to the input and output of the L6/L10.
- Turn on the power to the L6/L10. The 512 module is equipped with an internal power on/off mute relay. After power up, there is a 2 second delay before the output is connected, to avoid power-on thumps. The relay also prevents power-off thumps by muting the output during power down.
