Connect to a Mobile Network
If you see one of the mobile indicators (4G LTE, 3G, EDGE, or GPRS), your Fire phone is already connected to a mobile network.
Note: Your device supports nine bands of 4G LTE. Your phone will always connect to the fastest available network; however, if 4G LTE is not available, it will default to 3G, EDGE, or GPRS.
Your Fire phone automatically switches to Wi-Fi when you connect to a Wi-Fi network. If you disconnect from a Wi-Fi network, or if you move out of Wi-Fi range, your phone automatically switches to a mobile connection, such as 4G, when enabled.
-
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Actions panel.
-
If the Wi-Fi icon is orange, your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
-
Tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn off Wi-Fi and connect to a mobile network instead. If you are in a mobile service area, you should see one of the mobile indicators (4G LTE, 3G, EDGE, or GPRS) appear in the status bar at the top of the screen.
If your Fire phone doesn’t connect to a mobile network, make sure that:
- You are in an area of good coverage.
- Airplane Mode is off.
- You’re on the latest software version.
Then:
- Turn off your Wi-Fi connection and immediately connect to a mobile network.
- Make sure your device has been activated for service. Open the Quick Actions Panel and then go to Settings > Device > Get info about your Fire. If your device has been activated, you will see your current phone number, serial number, and International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI).
- Restart your phone. Press and hold the Power button, and then select Restart.
