EFFUN EP1 Smart Fingerprint and Password Door Lock
Check Lock Parts
Open the package to see if all parts (and quantity) listed below are present.
Decide the Direction and Adjust Handle
The front panel should be placed outside of the door. Adjust the handle
according to the direction of door opening. If needed, twist the handle 180°,
shown as the arrow in the picture below.
Installation
- Fasten the latch body(C) and strike plate(D) to the lock hole on the side of the door, with sheet metal screws (J: silver).
- Tighten the set screws(G/H) to the front panel(A). The set screws have two sizes (G and H). Please choose the ideal one based on the thickness of your door. Pass the power wire through the long square bar(F), and insert the bar into the middle hole of the front panel.
- Attach the front panel to the door. Make sure that the long square bar(F) with the power wire in the middle passes through the square hole of the latch body(C).
- Loosen the sheet metal screws(B1). Put the back plate(B2) and battery aside.
- Attach the back panel(B) to the door, and pass the long square bar(F) with the power wire through the hole of the back panel. Fasten both panels with carriage bolts(I).
- Plug the power wire into the socket on the back plate(B2), and load 4 AAA alkaline batteries (not included).
- Pack the power wire into the back panel(B) and cover it with the back plate(B2). Tighten the back panel with the sheet metal screw (B1: black). Now, ready to go! Please refer to the operation manual to register administrators and general users before use.
Register Fingerprints and Passwords

The first three fingerprint Registrant are considered as administrators. The rest are general users.

Add a fingerprint for the first time: Touch the faceplate for 2 seconds (or quickly touch the fingerprint sensor) to wake up the system, press “1” + “#” successively, then a blue light flashes. To trigger the registration process, press the fingerprint sensor with any finger. You will hear a long “beep” sound with the blue light keeping on. Now press the fingerprint sensor 5 times and each time it comes with a beep sound and a green light flashing once. After all, there will be a long beeping and the green light turning on and off, indicating a successful registration. Then the system automatically exits the setup mode. It is also recommended to touch the sensor with different areas of your fingerprint for effective biometric recognition.

Add a password for the first time: Touch the faceplate for 2 seconds (or quickly touch the fingerprint sensor) to wake up the system, press “1” + “#” subsequently, then a blue light flashes. Press the fingerprint sensor with any finger, then you will hear a long “beep” sound with the blue light keeping on. Now press a 6-digit password + “#” and there will be a long beeping with a green light on. Key in the 6-digit password again and “#” again. If two numbers match, you will hear a long beeping with the green light turning on and off, indicating a successful registration. Then the system automatically exits the setup mode. Otherwise, if two numbers are different, there will be three “beep”
sounds with a red light on and off, and then please redo the whole process. -
Add more users: Touch to wake up the system, press “1” + “#”, then a blue light flashes. An administrator needs to verify the identity through either fingerprint or password, then the blue light is constantly on with a long ‘beep’ sound. Now you can add more users by repeating the step 2 or 3.
Unlock with Fingerprints
- Fingerprint recognized: Green light on with one ‘beep’ sound.
- Fingerprint unrecognized/refused: Red light on with three ‘beep’ sounds. Then a green light keeps on. Please try your fingerprint again.
Unlock with Passwords
Touch to wake up the system, digit lights and the green light keeps on, and key in the 6-digit password + “#”.
- Password verified: The green light is off, with a long “beep” sound.
- Password unverified/refused: Red light on with three ‘beep’ sounds. Then a green light keeps on. Please try your password again.
Auto-lock
Automatically locked after unlocked for 5 seconds.
Delete All Users & Restore Manufactory Settings:
- Touch to wake up the system, press “888” + “#”, then a red light flashes. Verify an administrator through either fingerprint or password, then a green light turns on with a long ‘beep’ sound. Now all user records are removed and the lock is restored to the manufactory setting.
- Enforced resetting to the manufactory mode: Press the setup button on the back panel for 9 seconds, during which a green light flashes with constantly beeping sounds. Release the button when the red light flashes. The light turns green and off, indicating that the resetting is done.
Normally-Open Mode (Fingerprint/password not required)
- Turn on/off
- Touch to wake up the system, press “28” + “#”, then a purple light flashes. Verify an administrator through either fingerprint or password, then a green light turns on with a long ‘beep’ sound. the normally-open mode is then turned on. Repeat this process to switch between the normally-open and auto-lock modes.
- Press the normally-open mode button on the back panel for 1 second until the light turns green. Release the button and you will hear a long ‘beep’ sound, indicating the normally-open mode is on. Repeat this process to switch between the normally-open and auto-lock modes.
- Lock door under the normally-open mode Touch to wake up the system, press “#”, and the door is locked. Alternatively, verification of any registered fingerprint/password will lock the door. In these cases, the normally-open mode will be turned off.
Auxiliary Functions
- To quickly add users, press the setup button for 1 second, verify an administrator through either fingerprint or password, and then repeat step A2 or A3.
- Privacy protection and anti-peeping function. Adding any digit before or after the password will also unlock the door, so that other people have no clue about the real password. Please note that the whole digit string should not be longer than 12.
- Press “#” for 3 seconds to rest the screen.
Tips.
- It is recommended to store the mechanical keys outside in case of an emergency.
- A red light will flash when the batteries are low and enough for only about 50 times.
- When batteries die, unlock the door using either the mechanical keys or charging the lock through the Android port on the front panel with a power bank for temporary use.
- To prevent battery leakage causing lock damage, it is recommended to use highquality alkaline AAA batteries and to replace them within 2 years.
