CITY SPACE
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
For your safety, this appliance complies with all applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Environmental directives, etc.)
- This appliance is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they are supervised or have been given instructions beforehand concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- This appliance can be used by children provided that they are at least 8 years old, as well as by people lacking experience and knowledge or whose physical, sensorial, or mental abilities are reduced if they have been properly trained and duly informed of the incurred risks. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance of this appliance must not be carried out by children without supervision. Keep the appliance and its cord away from children.
- Do not use the appliance if the power cord is damaged. To avoid danger the cord winding system and cord for your vacuum cleaner must be replaced by a Rowenta Approved Service Centre only.
CONDITIONS FOR USE
- Your vacuum cleaner is an electrical appliance: it should only be used under normal conditions.
- Use and store the appliance out of the reach of children. Never leave the vacuum on when unattended.
- Do not place the nozzle or the end of the tube near the eyes or ears.
- Do not vacuum surfaces that are wet with water or any other liquid whatsoever, hot substances, supersmooth substances (plaster, cement, ashes…), large sharp waste (glass), harmful products (solvents, abrasives…), aggressive products (acids, cleaning products…), flammable or explosive products (gasoline or alcohol-based).
- Never immerse the appliance in water; do not spill water on the appliance and do not store it outside.
- Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped and there is visible damage to it, or if it fails to function normally. In this case, do not open the appliance but send it to the nearest Approved Service Centre or contact Rowenta Customer Services.
ELECTRIC POWER SOURCE
- Check that your vacuum cleaner voltage corresponds to that of your domestic power supply: you will find this information on the appliance.
- Switch off and unplug the appliance: – immediately after each use, – before every change of accessories, – before every cleanup or maintenance procedure, and before changing the filter.
REPAIRS
Repairs should only be performed by specialists using original spare parts.
Repairs carried out by the user can be dangerous.

BEFORE FIRST USE
UNPACKING
Unpack your appliance, keep your guarantee form and read the instructions
carefully before using your appliance for the first time.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- Each time before use, unwind the power cord completely.
- Do not jam it or allow it to rub against sharp edges.
- If you are using an electrical extension, check that it is in perfect condition and that it is suited to the power of your vacuum cleaner.
- Your vacuum cleaner is fitted with a device to protect against the motor overheating. In certain cases, (using the flexible hose on chairs, etc.) the device is triggered and the appliance may make an unusual noise. This is of no consequence.
- Do not move the vacuum cleaner by pulling on the power cord, the appliance must be moved using its transport handle.
- Do not use the power cord to lift the appliance.
- Never unplug the appliance by pulling on the power cord.
- Never use the vacuum cleaner without a bag or without a filtration system in place: microfilter or HEPA filter cassette
- Make sure that the filter (12+13 or 14) is placed correctly.
- Only use original Rowenta accessories and filters.
- Use only original Rowenta accessories.
- If you have any difficulties in finding accessories or filters for this vacuum cleaner, contact Rowenta Customer Service.
- Switch off and unplug your vacuum cleaner each time after use.
- Always switch off and unplug your vacuum cleaner before maintenance or cleaning.
USE
ASSEMBLING THE PARTS OF THE APPLIANCE

Firmly place the tube (19) in the vacuum opening (9) and turn to screw on – fig.1.

To withdraw the tube, turn in the opposite sense and pull – fig.2.
-
If your vacuum cleaner is equipped with a telescopic tube (20): push the clamping button forward, extend the tube to the desired length and release the button to lock the tube in place – fig. 3.
Otherwise, assemble the two tubes (21) by turning them slightly – fig. 4. -
Fit the tube extension* (22) if necessary.

Fit the required accessory onto the end of the tube:
– For rugs and carpets: use the “all floors” nozzle (23) with the brush tucked in – fig. 5, or the turbo-brush (27 or 28).
– For wood and hard floors: use the “all floors” nozzle (23) with the brush pulled out (fig. 6) or, for best results, use the parquet nozzle directly (24).
– For corners and hard-to-reach spots: use the crevice tool convertible into brush (26) in the flat position.
– For upholstery and delicate surfaces: use the crevice tool convertible into brush (26) or the upholstery nozzle (25), or the brush integrated to the grip 19b* (depending on model).
Attention! Always switch off and disconnect your vacuum cleaner before changing any accessories. -
PLUGGING AND SWITCHING ON THE APPLIANCE

Unwind the power cord completely, plug in your vacuum cleaner (fig. 7) and press the ON/OFF pedal (2) – fig. 8.

Set the suction power using the manual power switch on the handle: open the regulation vent in order to manually decrease the suction power, for example: on fragile surfaces –fig. 9.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT OF THE APPLIANCE
-
After each use, switch your vacuum cleaner off by pressing on the ON/OFF pedal (2) –fig. 8- and unplug it
–fig. 10. Store the cord by pressing on the wind pedal (3) – fig.11. -
In the vertical position, place the nozzle (23) in its storage compartment on the appliance (1b) – fig. 12.

In the horizontal position, place the nozzle (23) in its storage compartment on the appliance (1a) – fig. 13.

You may easily transport your vacuum cleaner by the transport handle (6).
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Important: Always switch off and unplug your vacuum cleaner before
maintenance or cleaning.
CHANGING THE BAG
-
The Bag full indicator (4) indicates that the bag is full or saturated. If you notice a reduction in the efficiency of your appliance, set the power at maximum and hold the nozzle above the ground. If the Bag full indicator remains red, replace the bag.

Remove the flexible hose (19) from the suction opening (9) – fig. 2.
-
Open the lid (8) of your vacuum cleaner – fig.14
*a) If your vacuum cleaner is equipped with a paper bag :** -
Remove the bag support (15) from the bag compartment (7) – fig.15a, then remove the paper bag (18a) from its base (15) by sliding it through the runners – fig. 15b.
-
Throw the bag in the rubbish bin -fig.15c.
-
Place a new bag in the bag support (15) – fig. 15d, then place the base inside the compartment by sliding it on the runners (16) –fig. 15e.
-
Make sure the bag and the bag support are correctly positioned before closing the lid (8).
*b) If your vacuum cleaner is equipped with a textile bag :** -
Remove the bag support (15) from the bag compartment (7) – fig.16a, then remove the textile bag (18b) from its support (15) by sliding it through the runners – fig. 16b.

Open the textile bag using the zipper -fig. 16c- then empty it above a rubbish bin – fig. 16d.
-
Clean the bag with running water – fig. 16e.
-
Leave the bag to dry for at least 24 hours (do not replace the bag until it is perfectly dry) – fig. 16f.
-
Close the textile bag: make sure that the zipper is completely closed -fig. 16g- before placing it back inside the appliance.
-
Place a new textile bag in the bag support, then place the base inside the compartment by sliding it on the runners (16) –fig. 16h.
-
Make sure the textile bag and the bag support (15) are correctly positioned before closing the lid (8).
CHANGING THE MICROFILTER (REF. ZR0039 01)
Important: Change the microfilter every 6 months.
The microfilter* is available at your local retail store or at one of our
Authorized Service Centres.
- Open the lid (8) of your vacuum cleaner – fig.14 – and remove the bag.
- Remove the motor protection grid* (12) – fig. 17a.
- Remove the microfilter (13) – fig. 17b – and keep the motor protection grid (12).
- Throw the microfilter* (13) in the rubbish bin -fig.17c.
- Place the new microfilter (13) on the motor protection grid* (12) – fig. 17d.
- Slide the ledges into the slots – fig. 17d.
- Screw on the motor protection grid* (12) – fig. 17e.
- Make sure that the motor protection grid* is correctly positioned (12) before closing the lid (8).
The air we breathe contains particles that can be allergenic: larva and dust
mite faeces, mould, pollen, smoke and animal waste (hair, skin, saliva,
urine). The finest particles can penetrate deep inside the respiratory system
or cause inflammation, affecting the entire respiratory function.
(H)EPA ([High] Efficiency Air Particle Filter) filters retain even the
smallest particles. Thanks to the (H)EPA filter, the air released into the
room is cleaner than the air vacuumed.
CHANGING THE HEPA FILTER CASSETTE (REF: ZR0045 01) SUITABLE FOR PAPER
BAGS
Important: Replace the HEPA filter cassette ZR0045 01 every 6 months
(according to use frequency).
The (H)EPA filter cassette ref. ZR 0045 01 is available at your local retail
store or at one of our Authorized Service Centres.
- Open the lid (8) of your vacuum cleaner – fig.14 – and remove the bag – fig. 15a.
- Remove the HEPA filter cassette* (14a) – fig. 18a -18b.
- Throw the cassette in the rubbish bin -fig.18c.
- Slide the ledges of the new HEPA filter cassette* into the slots –fig. 18d.
- Screw on the new HEPA filter cassette* (14a) (ref. ZR0045 01) in its compartment – fig. 18e.
- Make sure that the HEPA filter cassette* (14a) is correctly positioned before closing the lid (8).
CLEANING THE HEPA FILTER CASSETTE (REF: ZR0042 01), SUITABLE FOR TEXTILE
BAGS
*Attention! This cleaning procedure is exclusively reserved for the HEPA
filter cassette ref: ZR0042 01.
Important: Clean the HEPA filter cassette ZR0042 01 every 6 months
(according to the frequency of use).*
The (H)EPA filter cassette ref. ZR0042 01* is available at your local retail
store or at one of our Authorized Service Centres.
- Open the lid (8) of your vacuum cleaner – fig.14, then remove the bag – fig. 16a.
- Remove the HEPA filter cassette* (14b) – fig. 19a-19b.
- Tap the HEPA filter cassette* (14b) over a dustbin – fig. 19c.
- Rinse under running water – fig. 19d and let dry for at least 24 hours – fig. 19e.
- Make sure that the HEPA filter cassette* (14b) is perfectly dry before reinserting it.
- Slide the ledges into the slots – fig. 19f.
- Screw on the HEPA filter cassette* (14b) (Ref: ZR0042 01) in its compartment – fig. 19g.
- Make sure that the HEPA filter cassette* (14b) is well placed before closing the lid (8).
CLEANING THE VACUUM CLEANER
- Wipe the body of the vacuum cleaner and accessories with a soft damp cloth, then dry.
- Wipe the lid with a dry cloth – fig. 20.
- Do not use detergents or any corrosive or abrasive products.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Important: If you notice that your vacuum cleaner is not operating as well,
before carrying out any checks, switch it off using the ON/OFF pedal.
If your vacuum cleaner does not function
- The appliance is not plugged in: check that the appliance is correctly plugged in.
If your vacuum cleaner has no suction
- Either an accessory or the hose tube is partially blocked: unblock the accessory or the hose tube.
- The lid is not properly closed: check the position of the sac and close the lid again.
If your vacuum cleaner suction is not working properly or is making a whistling noise

Either an accessory or the hose tube is partially blocked: unblock the accessory or the hose tube.
-
The bag is full or saturated with thin dust: replace the paper bag (18a) or empty the textile bag (18b).
-
The filtration system is saturated:
– HEPA Cassette* : change the HEPA cassette (14a) (ref. ZR0045 01) and place it back in its compartment or clean the HEPA filter cassette (14b) (ref. ZR0042 01) according to the established procedure.
– Microfilter*: remove the microfilter* and replace it with a new one (ref. ZR0039 01) -
The manual power control* on the grip is open: close the manual power control.
If the change bag warning light remains red
- The bag is saturated: replace the paper bag (18a) or empty the textile bag (18b).
If the lid does not close (bag presence detection (17))
- Check to see if there is a bag and bag support (15) in place and make sure they are correctly positioned.
If the suction attachment is difficult to move
- Open the regulator on the handle in order to decrease suction power.
If the power cord does not wind up completely
- The cord slowed down as it was winding up: pull the power cord out again and press the power cord rewind pedal.
If your vacuum cleaner stops while in operation
- The overheating protective device has been triggered. Check that the tube and the pipe are not blocked or that the bag or filter is not full. Leave to cool down for 30 minutes before using the vacuum cleaner again.
If a problem persists, take your vacuum cleaner to your local Rowenta Approved Service Centre.

- This appliance is for domestic use only; any misuse or use that does not conform to the instructions will release the brand from all liability and the guarantee will be cancelled.
- Always read the instructions carefully before using your appliance for the first time: use that does not conform to the instructions will release Rowenta from all liability.
ENVIRONMENT
According to current regulations, every device that is out of use must be made
definitively unusable: Therefore, disconnect and cut the cord before throwing
out the device.
Think of the environment!
