MAGNET FISHING KIT
THE MAGNET
This is the star of the show! We’ve gone the extra mile to produce the most
durable, yet exceedingly strong magnet for any form of use. It is coated in
three premium layers of Ni, Cu, and Ni for exclusive durability and long-
lasting performance. When choosing the magnet, it is important to consider the
type of magnet that best suits your needs. We offer two different but highly
effective styles of magnets. Our single-sided magnet is perfect for dropping
off a dock, bridge, boat, etc. This type of retrieval allows the complete
surface of the magnet to attach to the metal and to create a strong bond
between the two allowing for the highest chances of pulling up the biggest
items below! Next is our double-sided magnet which is perfect for tossing and
dragging back. This allows the magnet to attract the metal in the most
productive way. For this style of magnet, it is most common to have the
eyebolt mounted on the side rather than the top for increased chances of
retrieval. The last important topic when choosing your magnet is the pull
strength. We offer a variety so don’t worry! The higher the pull strength, the
heavier it will be. For children, it is typically best to start out using our
625lb magnets. They are lightweight, yet are still strong to catch on to most
items in its path. For adults, we recommend our 925lb and stronger magnets.
From there, it all depends on your price point and which one best fits your
magnet fishing needs.
ROPE
We offer both 6mm and 8mm 100 foot rope depending on the kit that you
purchase. The rope is double braided nylon which makes it strong and durable
for long-lasting performance. It is perfect for pulling out items of all
sizes. The rope has a breaking strength of 4500lbs.
GLOVES
Gloves are an important aspect of magnet fishing. Protecting your hands from
sharp edges, loose debris, and rope burn while magnet fishing is one aspect to
not forget about in the least! In each of our kits, we have provided a
durable, yet grippy and stretchable pair of gloves to help prevent any cuts or
burns while on your adventure.
THREADLOCKER
Threadlocker is used to secure the eyebolt to the magnet. This ensures that
the magnet will not detach from the eyebolt while tossing and pulling your
magnet. To apply, add a few drops of thread locker to the eyebolt, then screw
it back into the magnet and allow it to cure for up to 24 hours before using.
By skipping this important step, it could result in losing your magnet on the
first few tosses.
TAPE
Due to the weight of the magnet and items being pulled from the water, the end
of the rope and knot can become weak. The tape adds extra strength when
pulling the magnet out of the water. We recommend applying the tape around the
knot and above it to increase longer lasting strength and life of the rope.
The tape provided is a strong adhesive made for creating a strong bond to the
rope to prevent any breakage.
APPLYING THREAD LOCKER
STEP 1: Open the bottle of thread locker and cut the end of the tube allowing for the liquid to come out.
STEP 2: Apply a generous amount of thread locker covering the threads of the eyebolt. STEP 3 : Screw the eyebolt into the magnet and allow to cure for up to 24 hours. Be aware that once cured, removing will be nearly impossible.
Best Knot for Magnet Fishing
The best knot is one that is easy to tie, yet strong enough for any condition.
The Palomar Knot is best known for magnet fishing, as it is considered to be
reliable and trustworthy. If you are unsure how to tie this knot, a simple
Google search could help.
Casting
- Step 1: Slowly toss your magnet underhand into the water. Allow the magnet to sink to the bottom.
- Step 2: Slowly pull your magnet back in. Repeat this process.
Cleaning Your Magnet
After each use, we highly suggest starting by wiping the magnet off. An old toothbrush can be very useful to clean out the debris stuck in the crevices used with soap and water. Using a plastic scraper can help remove small rocks or pieces of metal. WD-40 can be very helpful to use afterward to prevent any rust.
