About this quick reference guide
Make sure to first read the safety and compliance pages in the Paypod Embedded pay station Installation Guide. This Quick Reference Guide is only intended for qualified, trained, or authorized personnel and describes how to convert a Paypod Embedded IS pay station model to a Paypod Embedded pay station model using the ‘Internal Control Board Bypass’ kit enclosed. This kit would be used by customers preferring to use their PC terminal as a host controller (USB only) with software such as CPI POSlinq™ software and similar point of sale (POS) software to communicate as an external host.
This conversion
-
disables the internal control board interface with all pay station peripherals
– CLS coin recycler,
– BNR and SCR note recyclers,
– USB hub and LED control board. -
disables Ethernet and wireless communication capability for this pay station.

permits USB communication only to external POS terminals.
-
main tains power to the internal control board (benefiting real-time clock battery life).
Safety and compliance
Mechanical hazards.
Only skilled persons who have training or experience with this equipment
should service the Paypod pay station.
Electrical shock hazard.
Ensure that the power has been disconnected before installing or servicing pay
station.
Pay station door and turning payment component cart within pay station can
crush and cut.

Keep body parts clear when opening and closing the pay station.

ESD hazard. -
To prevent equipment damage from electrostatic discharge, observe all ESD precautions when installing and servicing the pay station.

Use a grounding wrist strap when installing any updates to pay station. A grounding wrist strap will prevent potential damage from electrostatic discharge during the installation process.

- USB adapter, micro-B female to type-B male
- Cable strain relief
- Tie wrap

actual equipment may vary.

Disconnect USB type-A plug 1 from control module [A] and USB type-B plug 2 from USB hub [B] to remove USB cable.
The cable is not used in this configuration.

Disconnect USB micro-B plug 3 from control module [C].

Connect USB adapter provided 4 to USB micro-B plug 3 [D].

Attach strain relief 5 as shown in figure detail.

Use tie-wrap 6 to secure the USB adapter and USB micro-B plug together as shown in figure detail.
6 Connect USB adapter assembly 7 into the right-hand USB
type-B port of the USB hub [E]. Conversion complete. The Payload Embedded IS
pay station will function identical to the Paypod Embedded pay station with a
singular USB communication interface only.
