Installation

The adhesive is permanent – Be sure to test your alignment/placement before you stick the magnet in place. Make sure that the placement allows the full surface of the magnet to make contact with the ferrous metal surface.

Make sure that the metal you want to attract to the magnet is a ferrous metal.
Magnets attract other magnets and metals with high iron content like steel and iron. They will not pick up aluminum, nickel, copper, silver, gold, or other non-ferrous items. -
Protective zinc-plated steel channel – The channel that the magnets are set into helps protect the ceramic magnets and directs the opposite side of the magnet’s polarity to the face of the magnet to increase its strength. The metal surface that you will attract to the magnetic assembly should cover the entire surface of the assembly including the metal edges. Metal hitting the middle of the assembly on the face of the magnets can cause damage to the ceramic magnets in the channel.

The 3M black, acrylic foam tape is rated for outdoor use. However, the foam portion will degrade at varying rates due to temperature, moisture, and other environmental factors.

The adhesive on the assembly should be allowed to set for a full 24 hours before it is used to ensure full adhesion.
