Introduction

Tiling an image on an LCD video wall shows the image at a larger scale across the displays as opposed to displaying the same image repeated on each individual display.
In any video wall configuration, individual LCD displays are assigned a Set ID number (called a Screen ID number on the Riser Drawing) and a Tile ID number.
For example, in a 3×3 video wall, the individual displays are numbered as shown in Figure 1.

As the LCD displays are mounted to the wall, one display is attached to the player (not necessarily display #1) and the other displays are daisy chained together:

  • Cable connected from the player to the display – HDMI
  • Cables connected between the subsequent displays – DisplayPort and RS-232C

Note: Cabling for a 4×4 video wall is slightly different with a repeated player output. In this case, two HDMI cables connect the player to display #5 and display #13. Refer to the Riser Drawing DWG-5309976 for more information.

Video Wall Configuration

The following steps include information from LG® manuals, refer to the specific manual for more details.

Set the Input for each LG® Display

  1. Follow the basic setup wizard prompts to configure each LG® display.
  2. Ensure that each display has the correct input source using the INPUT button on the remote control. The default of HDMI is correct only for the display(s) receiving the signal from the player; all other displays should have the input changed to DisplayPort.

Set the Set ID for each LG® Display

  1. Follow the LG® manual for steps to set the Set ID number for each display. Refer to Figure 2.
  2. Confirm by clicking Auto Set ID and waiting a few seconds. Each display’s Set ID number corresponds to the Screen ID on the Riser Drawing.

Set the Tile ID for each LG® Display

  1. Follow the LG® manual for steps to set the Tile ID number for each display. Refer to Figure 3.
  2. Click the Tile Mode to On.
  3. Enter the total number of rows and columns in the video wall under Row and Column.
    • Note: For a 3×2 video wall, enter the number of rows and columns as 3×3 to avoid a distorted image.LG-DD5401794-LCD-Video-Wall-Tiling-FIG-4
  4. Enter the individual display’s Tile ID number. Refer to Figure 4.
  5. Click the Natural Mode setting to On; this is Off by default.
  6. Click the Frame Control setting to On for displays in odd rows.
  7. Click the Scan Inversion setting to On for displays in even rows.
  8. Check that the Tile ID is correct for each display; long press the ON button to switch between displays.

Set the Picture ID for each LG® Display

Set the Picture ID to allow the remote control to control individual LCD displays or the whole video wall.

  1. Follow the LG® manual for steps to set the Picture ID number for each display.
  2. Using the remote control, press the red ON button labeled Picture ID to assign the Picture ID for each display. Refer to Figure 5.

  3. Once the Picture ID numbers are set, press the red Picture ID ON button to control an individual display, if needed. Press the Picture ID OFF button to use the remote control to control all the displays at once. Refer to Figure 5 and Figure 6.
