Precautions

  • The player is not disconnected from the AC (mains) power source as long as it is plugged into the wall outlet, even if the player itself is been turned off.
  • Do not install this player in a narrow space, for example a bookcase or similar piece of furniture.
  • Install the player so that the AC power cord ( power supply) can be disconnected immediately from the wall socket in case of problems.
  • If the player is taken directly from a cold place to a cold place hot, or is placed in a very humid room, it is possible that condensation forms on the lenses inside the player. If that should this occur, the player may not function properly. In this case, remove the disc and leave the player turned on for about half an hour until the moisture evaporates.

Displaying the control menu

Press VIEW.

To change the control menu display, press DISPLAY again.

List of menus

Playback of some DVD VIDEOs may be limited to a predetermined level such as age of users. Scenes can be frozen or replaced with different scenes.
PLAYER t: Enter your 4-digit password, then press ENTER. Select the level in “LEVEL”. The lower the value, the more severe the limitation. Select an area in “STANDARD”.
When you select “MORE t”, select and enter a standard code.

1 “PARENTAL CONTROL AREA CODE LIST” PASSWORD t: enter a 4-digit password.

If you forget your password, enter “199703” in the password box, press ENTER, then enter a new 4-digit password.

You can adjust various settings when the player is on stop mode.
QUICK: Adjust basic settings.
CUSTOM: 1 “CUSTOMIZED Menu”
RESET: returns the settings in “SETUP” to the default values.

Select image quality.
STANDARD: Displays a standard image. DYNAMIC: Produces a bold, dynamic image. CINEMA: Enhances details in dark areas.
MEMORY t: Adjust the image in more detail.

Exaggerates the outline of the image. 1: Improve the contour.
2: Enhance the outline more than 1.

EFFECT
Select the effects to use to change slides during a presentation.
MODE 1: Random
MODE 2: From top left
MODE 3: From above
MODE 4: From the left
MODE 5: From the center

Select the type of media you want to play.
VIDEO: Play video files.
PHOTO (MUSIC): Plays photo and music files as a slideshow when music and photo files are inserted on the same album.
PHOTO: Plays photo files.
MUSIC: Plays music files. To play music with lyrics, press SUBTITLE while playing files music files containing MP3 ID3 lyrics.

CUSTOMIZED menu

LANGUAGE SETTING
OSD (On-Screen Display): Change the language of display on the screen.
MENU: Select the language for the DVD VIDEO menu.
When you select “MORE t”, select and enter a code language. 1 “LIST LANGUAGE CODES”
AUDIO: changes the language of the sound track recorded on the DVD VIDEOS. When you select “ORIGINAL”, it comes the language that is given priority on the disc is selected.
SUBTITLES: Change the language of the subtitles recorded on the DVD VIDEO. When you select “AUDIO FOLLOW”, the subtitle language changes according to the language selected for the soundtrack.

SCREEN SETUP

TV TYPE: Select the aspect ratio of the connected TV.

SCREEN SAVER: When set to “ON”, the screensaver appears when the player is in pause or stop mode for 15 minutes. Press N to deactivate screensaver.
BACKGROUND: Select the background color or image on the TV screen. If you set “COVER IMAGE”, even if the disc does not contain a cover image, the image will be displayed “GRAPHICS”.

LINE: Selects the output of video signals.

CUSTOM SETTING

AUTO STANDBY: Enables or disables the Auto setting Standby. If you select “ON”, the player enters standby mode if left in stop mode for more than 30 minutes.
AUTO PLAY: When set to “ON”, the player automatically starts playing when turned on.
PAUSE MODE: Select the pause mode image for DVDs. Normally select “AUTO”.
When the image is played in high resolution, set to frame.”
TRACK SELECTION: Assigns priority to the audio track which contains the greatest number of channels when playing a DVD VIDEO on which multiple audio formats (PCM format, MPEG audio, DTS or Dolby Digital) are recorded. If you select “AUTO”, priority is given.
MULTI-DISC RESUME: Enables or disables the Multi-disc setting Resume. Resume playback can be saved in memory for up to 6 different DVD VIDEOs/VIDEO CDs. If start the settings again, the resume point comes deleted.

SETTING THE AUDIO

AUDIO DRC (Dynamic Range Control): Set accordingly to the surrounding environment. Set to “TV MODE” when sounds are smaller indiscernible or set to “WIDE RANGE” when the environment listening is good, for example in a home cinema.

DOWNMIX: Changes the method for mixing to 2 channels when playing a DVD that has rear audio elements (channels) or it is recorded in Dolby Digital format. Normally select “DOLBY SURROUND”.

  • For some devices, LUN (Logical Unit Number) may appear. To change the LUN or original memory, press when the album or song list is displayed.

Note on recordable media

Some recordable media cannot be played on this player due to the recording quality or physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device and authoring software. The disc will not play if it was not finalized correctly. Even some DATA disks created in Packet Write format cannot be played.

Note on copy protection
Images in DVD-VR mode with protection RMCP may not play.

Note on discs
This unit is designed to play discs compliant with the Compact Disc (CD) standard.
DualDisc and some encoded music discs with copyright protection technologies do not comply with the Compact Disc (CD) standard.
Therefore, these discs may not be compatible with this unit.

Note on discs
Do not use the following discs:

– A disc that has a non-standard shape (for example, paper, heart).
– A disc with a label or sticker on it.

Playback of VIDEO CDs with PBC functions

When you start playing a VIDEO CD with PBC (playback control) functions, comes the selection menu appears.
To play without using PBC, press ./>or the number buttons while the player is stopped for select a song, then press N or ENTER. For return to PBC playback, press x twice, then press N.
Control the TV with the remote control

While holding TV [/1, press the buttons numbers to select the TV manufacturer code.

Troubleshooting

If you experience any of the following difficulties while using your player, use this troubleshooting guide to resolve the problem before requesting repairs.
If the problem persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer.

The power is not turned on.
Check that the power cord (power cord) is connected securely.

There is no image/noise appears in the image.

Reconnect the connection cable securely.

The connection cables are damaged.
Check the connection to the TV and switch the selector input on the TV so that the player’s signal appears on the TV screen.

Set “LINE” in “SCREEN SETUP” to an item appropriate for your TV.

The player cannot play a recorded disc that is not is finalized correctly.

The player does not work properly.

When static electricity, etc., causes operation player is abnormal, unplug the player.
“C:13:” appears on the screen.
Clean the disc with a cloth or check its size.
