What’s in the box?

  • BW1600A
  • Power Adaptor (whit e)
  • Ethernet cable (white)
  • RJ11 cable (gray)
  • Bracket

BW1600A Setup

  • Start by unpacking the box and identifying the BW1600A, cables, and instruction card.
  • Find a good spot for your BW1600A, if possible, near a window or an open space for better LTE reception. Avoid closets or other closed-off areas. Where your device is placed can have a huge impact on the performance.
  • Choose a spot with good air circulation that doesn’t get hot, as excessive heat can cause electronics to perform poorly.

Plug everything in

  • Plug the white power adaptor into a wall outlet and into the power port on the back of the device.
  • Power up your device (once powered up, your device may need to update to the latest software, approximately 15 minutes).
  • Plug the end of the gray cord into the gray RJ11 port on back of the device, and the other end into a working phone jack.
  • Finally, plug one end of the White Ethernet cord into one of the Ethernet ports on the BW1600A, and the other end into your computer’s Ethernet port (Optional).

No Ethernet port? If you are using a tablet or newer laptop, you may not have an Ethernet port on your device. That’s okay. If your device doesn’t have Ethernet, you can instead connect to WiFi using the login information on the bottom of the device.
If you see a white cord in your modem kit, it’s a second Ethernet cable to be used in case you have additional devices that you would like to plug into the BW1600A.

Check for Connectivity

  • The Boot up LED of the BW1600A will change colors as it goes through the installation process, to show you its connection status.
  • If the SIM status LED turns solid green, this means your device is connected to the LTE network.
  • If the SIM status LED turns solid red, this means that the SIM card has not been detected.
  • If the SIM status LED blinks red, this means that the SIM card has been detected but it is not connected to network.
  • If the SIM status LED remains blinking red, you will need to chat with a service agent to get help.

Complete setup online

At this point, you are ready to activate your service! You can proceed to scan the QR code located on the back of your BW1600A or go to www.brightspeed.com/lte site on a browser. Either one will walk you through the steps to finish installing service.

Check LED Status In dicators

  • After completing the setup steps, check the colors of the LED status indicators to verify its connection status.

  • LTE Status LED turns green Once the light is green, the SIM card has been detected and connected to the network.

  • Boot-up LED turns green Once the light is green, you’re connected to the internet, and you can get online!

  • Telephone Status LED turns purple
The telephone status LED will start blinking purple while your device is connecting to the SIP server. Once the SIP server has been detected and your telephone is connected, the light will turn solid purple for a short period of time.

  • Telephone Status LED turns red No SIP-Telephone service is connected.

  • Telephone Status LED is off No Call (this function is normal)
