Product Usage Instructions

Starter Kit Usage

  1. Write your seed words on a piece of paper, ensuring correct numbering.
  2. Place washer #1 in the Blockmit Jig.
  3. Stick a piece of tape across the bottom of the jig to hold the washer securely.
  4. Locate the correct letter punches for seed word #1. Place the Jig Guide in letter position 1.
  5. Insert the letter punch for the first letter and tap it with a hammer several times.
  6. Check if the letter is etched, if not, repeat tapping.
  7. Move Jig Guide to letter position 2 and insert the corresponding letter punch for the second letter.
  8. Repeat steps 6-7 until the entire seed word is etched into washer #1.
  9. Replace the washer with the next one and continue until all seed words are etched.
  10. For the unnumbered washer, etch a name for your seed words set.

DIY & Uncle Jim Kits Usage

  1. Write your seed words on a piece of paper, ensuring correct numbering.
  2. Place a blank washer in the Blockmit Jig and secure it with tape.
  3. Locate Number Punch 1 for seed word #1 and place the Jig Guide in Number position 1.
  4. Insert Number Punch 1 and tap it with a hammer several times.
  5. Check if the number is etched and repeat if necessary.
  6. Etch all numbers required using the same process. For letter punching, follow steps 9-12 from the Starter Kit instructions above.

Before you start

THE BLOCKMIT JIG
The Jig is a 3D-printed plastic device that allows you to neatly stamp letters and numbers onto steel washers.

  • The Jig has two fundamental functions, stamping letters and numbers.
  • Please pay attention to which section of the Jig is used for letters and which is for numbers.

Starter Kit

Using the Starter Kit

Note : This kit uses pre-numbered washers

  1. Write your seed words on a piece of paper, and ensure that they are numbered correctly
  2. Place washer #1 in the Blockmit Jig. Tip: stick a piece of tape across the bottom of the jig to hold the washer in place securely
  3. Using seed word #1, locate the correct letter punches to create this word
  4. Place the Jig Guide in the Jig in letter position 1
  5. Insert the letter punch for the first letter
  6. Tap the letter punch with a hammer several times
  7. Remove the Jig Guide and check to see if the letter has been etched. If not clear, re-insert the jig guide and tap the letter punch a few more times with the hammer. Repeat until the letter is etched.One letter is etched, move to the next step
  8. Move the Jig Guide to letter position 2
  9. Insert the letter punch which corresponds with the second letter of your seed word
  10. Repeat steps 6 and 7
  11. Continue process until the entire seed word has been etched into washer #1
  12. Remove the washer and replace it with washer #2
  13. Repeat the process until all seed words have been etched onto your washers
  14. Using your 13th or 25th washer, which has intentionally been left un-numbered, etch a name for your seed words set.

DIY & Uncle Jim Kits

Using the DIY or Uncle Jim kits
Note : These kits use blank washers and thus require both number and letter punching.

Part 1: Number punching

  1. Write your seed words on a piece of paper, ensure that they are numbered correctly

  2. Place a blank washer in the Blockmit Jig.
    Tip : stick a piece of tape across the bottom of the jig to hold the washer in place securely

  3. This washer will be used for seed word #1, locate Number Punch 1

  4. Place the Jig Guide in Number position 1.

  5. Insert Number Punch 1 at position 1

  6. Tap the number punch with a hammer several times

  7. Remove Jig Guide and check to see if the number has been etched If not clear, re-insert the jig guide and tap the number punch a few more times with the hammer. Repeat until the number is etched Once the number is etched, move to the next step

  8. Etch all numbers required (12 or 24) using the process in steps 1 – 7
    Part 2: Letter punching

  9. Place washer #1 in the Blockmit Jig. Tip: stick a piece of tape across the bottom of the jig to hold the washer in place securely

  10. Using seed word #1, locate the correct letter punches to create this word

  11. Place the Jig Guide in the Jig in letter position 1

  12. Insert the letter punch for the first letter

  13. Tap the letter punch with a hammer several times

  14. Remove Jig Guide and check to see if the letter has been etched If not clear, re-insert the jig guide and tap the letter punch a few more times with the hammer. Repeat until the letter is etched Once letter is etched, move to the next step

  15. Move the Jig Guide to letter position 2

  16. Insert the letter punch which corresponds with the second letter of your seed word

  18. Continue the process until the entire seed word has been etched into washer #1

  19. Remove the washer and replace it with washer #2
