Assemble Instruction
The worktop surface is pre-treated at the factory with hard wax oil. Due to the nature of the material, treat the edges and cut-outs with STOCKARYD wood treatment oil, prior to installation.
After installation, treat the surface when it starts to wear or become dry, to ensure that it retains its durability for many years to come. Worktop with a 3 mm layer of wood on particleboard can be sanded down to remove scratches, if needed.
To ensure that the worktop will retain its durable surface for many years to come, treat it with STOCKARYD wood treatment oil when needed.
Area where the worktop may dry out, such as edges and areas around the sink and hob, require frequent treatment.
Advice for use:
Before installation
- Before installation, store the worktop in a room with normal temperature and humidity levels. Do not place the worktop against a warm radiator, or lay it on a cold floor.
- When storing the worktop, stand it on the back edge of its long-side.
- Do not open the plastic package until you are ready to install the worktop.
- Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 25 cm. The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 80 cm.
- Not suitable for use in wet rooms.
- Only recommended for indoor use.
After installation
- When the worktop’s surface starts to wear or becomes dry, sand the worktop following the direction of the grain.
- Prepare the worktop first by polishing the wood surfaces with fine sandpaper. Wipe away all sawdust with a dry cloth.
- Apply STOCKARYD wood treatment oil onto a soft cloth then wipe over the surface to create a thin, even film.
- Leave to penetrate the surface for approx. 20 minutes.
- Wipe-off any unabsorbed oil with a dry, soft cloth.
- Allow the surface to dry and repeat the oil treat¬ment 1-2 times if required, depending on the absorbency of the wood.
- After the first treatment, sand the surface lightly with fine sandpaper. Let the surface dry and repeat the treatment after a few days.
Care and maintenance
- To ensure that the worktop will retain its durable surface for many years to come, treat it with STOCKARYD wood treatment oil when needed.
- Areas where the worktop may dry out, such as around the sink and hob, should be treated often.
- Scratches and small blemishes can be treated with fine sandpaper on a sanding block.
- Always sand in the direction of the grain.
- For daily cleaning, use ordinary washing-up detergent, soap or water. Never use chemicals to clean the worktop.
- Worktops that are installed above a dishwasher, washing machine or oven should be protected on the underside with FIXA diffusion barrier.
- Always use a chopping board, never cut directly on the worktop with a knife. Never pull an object with rough or ragged edges across the worktop as it can scratch the surface.
- Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two worktops because the heat can damage the seam.
- Never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, souring agent or similar products as they can scratch the surface
