Cold brewing coffee offers several advantages. Firstly, it prevents the
formation of acids that can make the coffee taste bitter and mask its flavors.
Additionally, the low acid content of the coffee makes it a suitable choice
for individuals with acid reflux, allowing them to enjoy their coffee without
discomfort. Moreover, the stainless steel filter in the brewer enables the
aromatic oils of the beans to pass through, enhancing the flavors in the
coffee concentrate and providing additional health benefits.
General Instructions:
Before using your brewer, ensure that all components are thoroughly washed. All components are dishwasher safe.
Cold Brew Coffee Instructions:
-
Add coffee to the filter basket – See coffee tips for guidance.
-
Pour water into the jar, filling it to the top over the coffee grounds.
-
Securely place the lid on the jar.
-
Allow the brewer to sit, allowing the water to soak into the grounds.
Initially, the grounds may float and/or bubble due to the release of carbon dioxide from freshly ground coffee (known as blooming). This activity should subside after a few minutes. The water level in the brewer may decrease as the water is absorbed by the grounds. After a few minutes, refill the brewer with water and seal it with the lid. -
Place the brewer in the refrigerator and allow the grounds to brew from 12-48 hours, depending on your taste. Longer brewing will produce stronger coffee.
-
Once the steeping is complete, remove the fitter basket from the jar and discard the used coffee grounds.
Cold Brew Tea Instructions:
- Add two tablespoons of loose leaf tea per quart of water to the filter.
- Fill the jar with cold water.
- Steep in the refrigerator for 4 to 12 hours.
- Remove the filter basket and discard the tea leaves.
Using the Seals:
The plastic pour tid comes with a pre-installed silicone seal, which should
always be used in the pour lid, whether the filter is inside the jar or not.
The seal can be removed and reinstalled for cleaning purposes as needed.
The filter is equipped with a rim seal specifically designed for use with the
plastic pour lid. The seal can be removed and reinstalled on the filter when
necessary.
Instructions for Seal Usage:
Verify that the seal is properly positioned on the top of the filter, ensuring it has not shifted.
Tips
For best results, it is recommended to use coarse ground coffee Pre-ground
coffee will work perfectly fine as well. If you are grinding coffee at the
store, please set the grinder to the coarsest setting available.
To achieve the best results, you can fill the filter basket with coffee
grounds up to one inch below the top of the filter material. Leaving some
space in the filter above the grounds allows the water to flow more freely and
fill the jar with ease. For a two-quart brewer, it will take approximately two
cups of grounds to fill, while a one-quart brewer requires about one cup of
grounds.
By following the above filling method, you will create a concentrated coffee
that can be diluted with water or milk. If you prefer a less concentrated
brew, simply use half the amount of coffee grounds.
For a stronger brew, you can put the coffee grounds directly into the jar
instead of using the filter. The more grounds you use, the stronger the brew
will be, Place the filter in the jar and screw on the lid to secure the
grounds.
Allow the coffee to steep for 24 hours. When ready, open the flip-top lid and
pour out the coffee, The filter will effectively keep the grounds inside the
jar, allowing you to decant the coffee easily.
If you wish to make smaller batches of coffee in the two-quart brewer, you can
adjust the quantities of water and grounds accordingly. For instance, to make
one quart, use 3/4 cup of grounds with one quart of water.
Cleaning is convenient as all components of your Cold Brew Coffee Maker are
dishwasher safe.
To ensure a continuous supply of cald-brewed coffee, consider having an
additional mason jar so that you can start brewing a new batch while enjoy-
ing the coffee you have already made.
