Before You Begin

For your safety, the SongBook is shipped from the factory with partially charged batteries. With the unit off, connect a ower supply (not included) and plug it into a wall outlet to charge the batteries. SongBook supports USB PD Fast charging via the USB-C Charge Port. The power delivered by the charger must be between min 5 Watts required by the Songbook, and max 30 Watts in order to achieve the maximum charging speed.
Like many rechargeable devices, you may see a delay before the LED starts to blink when the SongBook is brand new and first plugged in, or when left unused for several weeks. Bluetooth Operation

Prior to pairing, verify your smart device is not connected to any other Bluetooth product. Devices may pair differently.
Below is a general guide.

  1. Turn the SongBook to the “BT” position. The SongBook should automatically enter pairing mode, indicated by a blinking blue LED. To start pairing mode, press the pairing button located on the rear panel.
  2. Go to the Bluetooth settings screen on your phone or tablet.
  3. Select the device that has a name similar to “SongBook_XXXXX”.
  4. Once you hear the Bluetooth connection tone, you are paired to the SongBook.

Auxiliary Operation

The SongBook can be used as a standalone speaker. Use the ¼” (6.35mm) auxiliary input to attach any line, headphone level or high impedance source into your speaker. You can control the volume of the speaker using the volume control on the SongBook or with the volume control of your audio source. Your device may require the use of a 1/4” to 1/8” (6.35mm to 3.5mm) adapter.

AMP / LINE Toggle Switch
This toggle switch controls the onboard preamp, allowing you to connect a variety of inputs.
LINE: Set the switch to Line when plugging in a line or headphone level source. This setting turns the onboard preamp OFF, and is for use with inputs that do not require additional amplification.
Use this setting when connecting an MP3 player, record player, keyboard or other line-level inputs.
AMP: Set the switch to Amp when plugging in a guitar, bass or other instruments requiring a high impedance input. This setting turns the onboard preamp ON, and is for use with instruments or other inputs that require additional amplification.
Use this setting when connecting instruments or other inputs requiring a high impedance input.
AMP IT UP
With the switch set to AMP, the AUX IN Input is active in Bluetooth Mode. Use this feature for home practice, or open mic nights! Play a track on Bluetooth and play along using the AMP input.
CAUTION:
Always turn the volume down to 0 before plugging in or unplugging your aux input.
If you are unsure which setting to use:

  • First set the toggle to LINE
  • If you need more volume: set the toggle to AMP
  • Take care not to set the toggle switch to AMP when connecting a line level source. The additional input volume may cause damage to the SongBook’s speakers.

EQ Section

Use the sliders to tailor the sound to your liking. Adjust the Lo, Mid and Hi frequency ranges – each slider ranges from -6 dB to +6dB. The points on the front panel by the slider correspond with +/- 2, 4, 6 dB.

About The Battery Pack

The SongBook uses a sealed pack of Lithium Ion cells. The front panel LED serves as a power, battery power and charge status indicator. Use only an authorized Tivoli Audio SongBook Lithium-Ion battery. The estimated battery life on a full charge is 10 hours. Note: battery life varies depending on volume and EQ settings.

Low Battery
When the SongBook is switched On but not plugged in, as the batteries become discharged, the LED Indicator will change to red, indicating the batteries are in need of being recharged. The remaining playback time from the moment the LED indicates Red until the SongBook shuts off is estimated between 30 minutes and 1 hour. For instance, the SongBook will likely play longer on the batteries at a lower volume than at higher volume levels. As you use your Songbook, you will develop a better idea of how much playback time you have before recharging is necessary. You may also notice a reduced battery playback time with your SongBook when using Bluetooth®.
Leaving the SongBook plugged for long periods of time when not in use may cause premature wear to the batteries.
There is no harm in operating the SongBook with the power supply, however the charge time will be affected. The SongBook is always running off the batteries, even when plugged in and charging.

Charging
USB-C Charging Device NOT Included with the SongBook.
SongBook supports USB PD Fast charging via the USB-C Charge Port. The power delivered by the charger must be between min 5 Watts required by the Songbook, and max 30 Watts in order to achieve the maximum speed.
For the fastest charging, use a USB-C PD charger capable of delivering 15V 1.5A.
LED Indicator:

  • Red (Blinking): SongBook is charging.
  • Green (Blinking): SongBook charging complete.

Standby Mode
If your SongBook is powered on and idle, it will automatically enter standby mode.
Normal Standby: In AUX IN mode, the SongBook will enter normal standby after 20 minutes of not playing audio. To wake the speaker, toggle the Power switch off, then back on. Power consumption in Normal Standby mode is less than 0.5W.
Network Standby: In BT mode, the SongBook will enter network standby after 20 minutes of not playing audio. To wake the speaker, single press the Power/Source. Power consumption in Network Standby mode is less than 2W.
