  1. You can now fill your Ice Bath MAX with ‘cold water’ using a hose until the water is roughly 15 cm (6 inches) below the underside of the top ring (not more than ⅔ full). Make sure the water level is above the top inlet of the Ice Bath MAX.
  2. Plug in and switch on the Chiller/Heater Unit.
  3. Set the chiller to your desired temperature.
  4. Once the chiller has finished its priming cycle it will start to chill and filter the water within a few minutes.
  5. It can take up to 3-4 hrs to chill the water from 65°F down to a frosty 37°C.
  6. Once the desired temperature is reached, switch off the Chiller/Heater Unit before starting your cold water therapy session.

NEVER RUN THE PUMP DRY

The chiller should only be turned on when there is water flowing through the inlet If the chiller is running with no water, it will cause dry burning of the water pump and serious damage to the unit.

Never Run The Pump Dry

Common Problems with Initial SetUp

  • Water is not circulating, the machine is on but the water is not moving or the pump is surging/laboring to circulate the water. Solution: It is necessary to fill the tub with enough water during the first use. Fill the water level inside the Ice Bath MAX higher than the height of the chiller/heater’s water inlet.
    a. Solution 2: Power off the chiller/heater. Rotate the filter bottle to the left, loosening it slightly by 1-2 turns, leaving a gap to release the air. After water flows into the filter bottle, the air is pushed out by the water through the gap. Tighten the filter bottle by twisting it to the right.
    b. Solution 3: Power off the chiller/heater. Place a hose into the tub at the lower tub inlet. The head of the hose and the inlet should be ‘connected’. Turn on the hose and run the water through the tubes. Continue this process until you see bubbles air come out of the upper inlet tube into the tube. Run the hose like this for 5 minutes and retest.
    c. Solution 4: Turn off the unit. Remove the filter and run the unit. If the unit starts to run correctly, replace the filter and run it again.

Fault Code Analysis and Solutions

Fault: If a fault occurs then an error code will be shown; A serious fault which stops the operation of the unit will be accompanied by an alarm sound, along with an error code.

Error Code Reason
E1 Water temperature probe is damaged or not properly installed.
E3 Short circuit between the water flow detection port and the public due to

water shortage.
E4| Compressor pressure is too low.
E5| Compressor pressure is too high.
E6| Electrical Current Overload, please power off the chiller/heater for 30 minutes and move it to a more ventilated location.
EH| Temperature of the water probe is higher than the set value.
EL| Temperature of the water probe is lower than the set value.
EE| Poor contact between communication interface and communication line, or burning or communication chip.

Cold Therapy Recommended Time Protocols

Cold water therapy works best with the right combination of time and temperature. For example, if you are in water with a temperature of 10°C, we would recommend you stay for no more than 10mins.

Temperature to Time examples:

  • 1°C = 1 minute submersion
  • 2°C = 2 minutes submersion
  • 3°C = 3 minutes submersion
  • 5°C = 5 minutes submersion
  • 10°C = 10 minutes submersion
  • 15°C = 15 minutes submersion
