INTRODUCTION TO GOVERNANCE MANUAL
The purpose of this Governance Manual is to document the primary governance
practices, structures, documents, and policies applicable to the OMERS
Sponsors Corporation (SC). It is intended primarily for the use and benefit of
Members of the SC Board and its management team (Management) as they carry out
their roles and responsibilities. It will also be helpful to the numerous
individuals and organizations that have an interest in
OMERS, including Plan members, employers, Sponsor Organizations, and other Stakeholders.
The scope of this Governance Manual is limited to the SC. The governance and decision-making practices of the SC are outlined in the SC’s various by-laws, charters, role descriptions, and policies which are included in this Governance Manual. OMERS Administration Corporation has a similar governance manual that sets out its key governance documents.
The SC has adopted governance structures and processes described in these documents so that the objectives of SC are achieved in an efficient and effective manner in the best interests of the OMERS Pension Plans.
The SC Board is committed to continually reviewing its governance processes. Through its Corporate Governance Committee, the SC Board updates the contents of this Governance Manual from time to time to ensure that the SC continues to meet the best interests of OMERS. The SC Board has decided to publish this Governance Manual on its website so that its key governance processes are accessible to its many stakeholders.
