Troubleshooting:
Air is not vacuumed from the bag:
- Check that there are no gaps, folds, wrinkles, or holes in the pre-sealed bags.
- Check for loose, worn, or cracked Upper and Lower Sealing Gaskets.
- If there is too much liquid in the bag, freeze it before vacuuming.
- Ensure that the bag is properly inserted into the Vacuum Chamber.
- When making a bag from a roll, make sure the end of the cut piece is on the Sealing Strip.
How can I tell if a bag is defective or has been damaged from previous
use?
A good way to test a bag is to just seal both ends of the bag without vacuum
sealing it. Submerge the bag in water for a fewseconds and look for bubbles in
the bag itself or near the seal strip area. If there are bubbles, the bag is
defective or has been damaged from previous use. Use another bag.
When you get to the end of a roll of bag material, why won’t the bags
seal?
Try cutting off about 1/2 inch from the end of the bag. It is possible that
the very end of the roll was compressed when rolled.
Also, make sure you have made a straight cut. Check to see if you have the end
of the bag over the gasket or into the vacuum channel.
It should only go up to the gasket, no further.
Which side of the bag should be placed into the vacuum channel?
Place the embossed (rough) side down. If the bag is curling (the end of the
roll may do this), place the curled side down over the seal bar.
Which side of the bag should be placed on the seal bar?
Place the embossed (rough) side down. If the bag is curling (the end of the
roll may do this), place the curled side down over the seal bar and can be
used either side up.
Why did my bag melt?
If your bag melts, the Sealing Strip may have become too hot.
Always wait at least 40 seconds between seals for the appliance to cool down
before you vacuum seal another item.

What does removing the air do?

It’s a system that includes vacuum seal bags, and containers designed to work together with vacuum sealers for optimal performance. Bags & Rolls General Questions
Do I have to use the Daintii Bags? Can I vacuum seal in other plastic bags?
- To vacuum seal with the Daintii system, you must use Daintii Bags and Rolls. They are specially designed to be strong enough for vacuum sealing and the waffle pattern in the bag that makes sure air does not get caught in pockets around the food.
- Daintii Bags and Rolls have five layers, including an outer layer of nylon. This configuration completely prevents air and moisture from getting back into the bag and prevents odors from getting out or in. Other plastic bags allow air to seep through.
- If you want to use your Daintii appliance to re-seal, but not vacuum package a bag (without removing the air first) you can use it on Mylar type (strong, thin polyester) or stiff plastic bags, not any other types. For example, you can re-seal potato chip bags.
I have a different food packaging appliance made by another company. Can I use the Daintii bags with it?
Our Daintii Bags and Rolls are designed for Daintii units only. The sealing bar on your unit may either be too hot, which will melt the bags, or too cool, which will result in a bag that is not sealed properly.

Foods That Should Not Be Vacuum Sealed
We hope all of these simple tips will help you to keep your fruits & veggies
fresher… longer!
DO NOT VACUUM SEAL:
- SOFT CHEESES(While it is safe to vacuum seal hard cheeses soft cheeses may actually mold faster in a vacuum than in regular air.)
- RAW BANANAS / MUSHROOMS(Because of their natural ripening these may actually decay FASTER under a vacuum seal.)
- WHOLE APPLES(When you vacuum seal apples they must be sliced, and put a small bit of lemon juice on the slices to prevent them from browning.)
- RAW ONIONS/ GARLIC/CABBAGES / LETTUCE(Some vegetables produce natural gases that may result in a loss of vacuum.)
- FRESHLY COOKED OR STEAMED VEGGIES (Hot steam from cooking may cause a loss of vacuum.
So, before you seal your cookedveggies let them come to room temperature – and then vacuum seal.)
Air was removed from the bag, but now air has re-entered
-
Check the seal of the bag. There may be a hole or wrinkle that is allowing air to re-enter the bag.
Carefully cut the bag open and reseal it, or use an entirely new bag. -
Make sure there is no moisture or liquid from the food present within the bag. You may need to cut open the bag and reseal it, or use an entirely new bag.
-
Make sure there were no food items with sharp edges that may have punctured the bag. If you find a puncture hole seal the item in an entirely new bag.
-
Make sure no liquids were drawn to the sealing strip area.
-
Check for loose, worn or cracked Upper and Lower Sealing Gaskets.
-
Moisture of foods with high liquid content will prevent the bag from sealing properly. Cut the bag open and wipe the top inside the bag and reseal.
-
Fermentation or the release of natural gases from inside the foods may have occurred. When this happens, food may have begun to spoil and should be discarded.

Bag troubleshooting questions:
Did you leave about 2.5 inches(6.35cm)at the top of the bag when filling?
Are you using a Daintii brand bag? Did you re-use a bag with imperfections?

What is the Moist/Dry setting for?
This changes the seal level for type of food – moist or dry. Liquids can be
drawn up by the vacuum process and liquids between the layers of the bag can
have a cooling effect on the heat seal.
Adjustable Food Settings Seal Level can extend the seal time to compensate for
liquid and create a secure, reliable and air-tight seal.
Hint:
When vacuum sealing very moist foods such as stew, try letting the bag hang
lower than the unit, by placing it on an open-top kitchen drawer(The paper
towel is just to absorb moisture, if necessary. It goes between the food and
the seal so that it absorbs the moisture instead of the moisture getting
sucked into the machine. Just fold a paper towel into a 1 inch strip and place
it inside the bag below the seal line.). Hit the seal button once you see
liquids start to move up the bag. When sealing large volumes of liquid, it is
normal to have some air bubbles remain in the bag.

Gaskets
What are gaskets?
Gaskets are made of foam and surround the vacuum chamber. They help ensure an
air-tight seal.
How do I replace or maintain my Gaskets?
- It’s a good maintenance practice to regularly inspect your gaskets for wear.Depending on your model you’ll either have removable or non-removable gaskets lf you have a model with removable gaskets for over a year–and use it often-it may be time for a gasket replacement.
- For Non-Removable Gaskets simply use a damp sponge to regularly clean.
- To replace or clean Removable gaskets use both hands and firmly grasp both ends of the gasket in the channel–and pull straight out. To clean gently wash, and let it dry 24 hours then replace per the instructions below.
- Place the washed or replacement gasket into the channel and gently press in all four corners.
Lightly tap around the perimeter-don’t slide your fingers straight across side to side. When the gasket is fully seated back into the channel close your vacuum sealer and lock it.
How often should I replace the gaskets?
To keep your Daintii vacuuming properly, we recommend that you replace the
gaskets every year.
Tips & Hint Non-Food Storage
Can I keep comic books or coins in Daintii bags?
Yes, but just seal the bags, do not vacuum them. The pressure caused by the
vacuum can cause the pages and print transfers to stick together. Coins can be
vacuum-packed, but be sure that you place some type of backing, such as
cardboard, in the bag against the “waffle” side, and face the coins toward the
smooth side of the bag. This will eliminate the possibility of any marks left
on the coins after long term storage.
You should also put any printed materials between cardboard or in an archival
sleeve before vacuuming. Otherwise the printing may transfer to the bag if you
ever remove the material from the bag. We cannot guarantee the preservation of
any items you choose to vacuum package.

Seal leftover seeds with your Daintii vacuum sealer – they’ll stay fresh to

table setting!
