General

The CryoTipper liquid nitrogen container transfer trolley (hereinafter referred to as the trolley) is formed and welded with stainless steel round tubes as the main material to transfer MVE liquid nitrogen containers. It features large load bearing capacity, convenient and reliable transfer, etc. Two specifications are available, including medium and large sizes, which are suitable for different types of containers.
The trolley is designed with safety and durability in mind and has passed the safety test, and the expected lifespan of this product is seven years. However, incorrect operation and use will damage the product.
The safety and durability of the trolley will be affected if the trolley has falling, collision and striking damage.
The trolley is mainly designed to transport liquid nitrogen containers on short-distance factory roads or indoor environments, road slope less than 10 °. If it is used for road transportation with greater wear, its service life will be seriously  reduced. Avoid excessive load during transportation.
Upon receipt of the trolley, the trolley, accessories and their packaging shall be inspected for visible damage or missing as a result of transportation. If yes, contact the transport company. If the transport box is marked with the ISTA-3A  transit transport test certification, it can help you claim compensation from the freight company in case of transport damage.

TRANSIT TESTED

Safety

Warning: When carrying containers containing liquid nitrogen, the precautions for use shall be consistent with those for liquid nitrogen containers. Due to the extremely low temperature of liquid nitrogen, great care must be taken  when filling, pouring or transferring liquid nitrogen to avoid frostbite.

  • Regularly check the equipment for damage or wear. Only when it is safe can it be used for loading and transfer.
  • Operators shall wear protective gloves, safety shoes and other personal protective equipment.
  • During operation, the container shall be loaded and unloaded stably and firmly, and the container cap shall be properly covered to prevent liquid nitrogen from overflowing.
  • Frequently check the tire pressure and remove the sundries in the tire thread, and do not load with a flat tire.
  • Operators shall not operate the equipment when affected by drugs and alcohol.
  • Keep the device away from children.
  • Do not use it under overweight, otherwise there will be a potential safety hazard.
  • Caution! Watch your hands! Pay attention to the joints of moving parts to avoid pinching hands.
  • The trolley shall be carefully inspected for damage before and after each transportation.
  • It is forbidden to dump the container without fixing the container with straps.

Installation and Operation

  1. Installation preparation
Open the package, take out the parts in turn and remove the package, and confirm the quantity according to the parts list (Table 3). (Fig. 2/Fig. 3/Fig. 4/Fig. 5).

  2. Installation of trolley
2.1 Place the handrail locating column vertically into the base mounting hole as shown in the Fig. (Fig. 6/Fig. 7/Fig. 8).
2.2 Lower the nut to the joint.
2.3 Tighten the nut with a wrench (Fig. 9).
Tips for installation: If the nut cannot be installed to the correct position when two locating columns are placed at the same time and the nut is tightened, the locating column at one end can be placed first with a small number of  threads screwed; then the locating column at the other end can be placed with a small number of threads screwed; screw one end and then the other repeatedly until the locating columns at both ends are tightened.

  3. Fixing of container
3.1 Place the trolley flat with the bottom of the container frame in full contact with the ground (Fig. 10).
3.2 Place in a suitable container (Fig. 11).
3.3 Place suitable protective foam pads (see Table 4).
Place a suitable foam pad depending on the container specifications. See Table 4 for the specifications of the foam pad used.

3.4 Fix the container with straps (Fig. 12).
3.5 Tighten the bolts (Fig. 13).

  1. Transfer of container
Perform the following operations while ensuring reliable trolley installation.
4.1 Hold the handrail beam of the trolley tightly with both hands wearing protective gloves. (Fig. 14)
4.2 Step on the bottom beam of the trolley with the feet wearing safety shoes; take the bottom beam as the center, stabilize the trolley, and tilt the trolley to the appropriate position in the direction indicated by the arrow in the  figure. (Fig. 15)
4.3 Push the trolley at a constant speed and transfer it to the destination. (Fig. 16)
4.4 After arriving at the destination, on the premise of ensuring safety, slowly place the bottom bracket of the trolley in full contact with the ground. (Fig. 17)

  2. Pouring of liquid nitrogen
5.1 Slowly pour liquid nitrogen by holding the handrail beam of the trolley with one hand wearing protective gloves and the handle of the container frame with the other hand. (Fig. 18)
Note: Be sure to take protective measures to prevent liquid nitrogen from splashing and hurting people!
5.2 Refer to Appendix A for the maximum container ground clearance.

  3. Safety tips
6.1 During installation and use, please pay attention to the connection position between the container frame and the main body to prevent hand pinching (Fig. 19).
6.2 When fixing the container with straps, please fix the straps on the container frame (Fig. 21 & Fig. 22), and do not fix them on the body (Fig. 20); otherwise, pouring will be affected.

Environmental conditions for operation, storage and transportation

  • Operating temperature: -29°C to+60°C
  • Operating relative humidity: 10% to 95%
  • Storage temperature: -29°C to+60°C
  • Storage relative humidity: 10% to 95%

When transferring liquid nitrogen containers, the temperature of liquid nitrogen is extremely low. Make sure to wear protective clothing before operation. Avoid liquid nitrogen splashing.

General cleaning

Do not use detergents containing acid, alkali, salt, chlorine and other corrosive materials to clean stainless steel parts.
Do not clean the wheel with engine solvent or detergent containing strong acid, strong alkali, strong oxidizing and other corrosive agents.
Preventive maintenance
Before each use, check whether the screws are loose, whether the parts are damaged or seriously worn.
When the tire pressure is found to be insufficient, replenish air in time; the recommended tire pressure is 2.3-2.8 bar.
If any foreign substances are found in the hub and axle, they shall be cleaned up in time.

Appendix A

Say the inclination from the neck of the liquid nitrogen tank to the ground is 45 degrees (Fig. 23), calculate the tipping height in inch using the following formula. This value roughly represents the maximum ground clearance of the tipped container under normal conditions.

H=H1-0.354x (2xH2+D)
H1: Height from the bottom of the fixed bracket of the trolley to the ground (typical values of large and medium sizes: 34.882 inch)
H2: Container height
D: Outer diameter of container
Use Table 5 below as a general guide to determine tipping heights. The values in the table are for reference only and the heights will vary depending on the container tipping process. If you do not find your specifications here, please refer  to the MVE catalogue or contact customer service or technical service for assistance.

Refer to the height table for container tipping.
