Product Information

The ABY Pedal by KMA Machines is a versatile device that allows users to switch between multiple audio devices quickly and easily. Product Usage Instructions

Connecting the Pedal

To connect your audio devices, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your amplifier, pedals, or instruments to the respective input/output jacks labeled “CHANNEL A” and “CHANNEL B”.
  2. If using the pedal as a Dual Input device, connect the desired audio device to the “CHANNEL Y” jack.
  3. Power the pedal by connecting a 9V DC power supply with center negative polarity to the “9 V DC Input” jack.

Switching Between Channels

The ABY Pedal allows you to switch between different signal paths using the A | B toggle switch:

  • Toggle the switch towards “A” to activate the Channel A path. The red LED will indicate when the Channel A path is active.
  • Toggle the switch towards “B” to activate the Channel B path. The yellow LED will indicate when the Channel B path is active.
  • To combine both A and B channels, push the A & B button. The blue LED will indicate when the combined A & B mode is active.
  • To cancel the combined mode, push the A & B button again. The previously selected singular A or B path will become active.

Creative Usage Scenarios

The ABY Pedal opens up possibilities for creative signal routing and effects. Here are a couple of examples:

  1. Switch between different effects such as delay and fuzz, or combine them together.
  2. Use the pedal to seamlessly switch between guitar and bass while maintaining the same pedal or effects chain.

Quick Start Guide

Thank you for purchasing this ABY Pedal. We hope you get many years of pleasure and use from this device and if this is your first product from our brand, welcome!
This simple connecting guide should help start you on your journey to sonic creativity. However, if you wish to know more of the pedal’s hidden secrets, you can find more info on the product page at: kmamachines.com/aby

  • KMA’s ABY pedal features a fully passive design for the best signal integrity, along with our True Bypass active silent relay-based soft switching.
  • That might well be a very wordy mouthful, but here’s what it means practically – the audio signal itself is entirely untouched and without any coloration.
  • However, the actual switching is taken care of by our reliable and sturdy soft switching mechanism, with our separate active relay-based circuit. By employing this switching technology, any mechanical and physical noise from those annoying loud clicks and pops, that you can get from many regular passive AB/Y pedals, is greatly reduced.
  • Also, because of its passive signal nature, our ABY can be used as a Dual Input device, as well as a Dual Output box in either direction. This allows you to switch instruments, amps or any kind of signal really quickly, easily and without unplugging and or re-plugging them.

This can lead to some very creative yet simple scenarios with effects. Here are a couple of examples to get you going:

  1. Easily switch between a delay, then a fuzz or even combine them.
  2. The pedal can send your rig into a totally different direction when performing or looping etc.; play a riff with a guitar connected to A through a fuzz pedal and then switch the AB/Y to B and perform a bassline seamlessly, through the same pedal or chain
