Operating Instructions
Description
ATD’s split beam click torque wrench is a precision instrument designed to
accurately measure torque. Other uses should be avoided. It should NEVER be
used to break loose stubborn fasteners. The self-contained torque limiting
mechanism employs an exclusive, patented design that minimizes friction, and
is rugged and dependable. The precision made part is sealed so dirt or liquids
cannot easily affect the built-in accuracy of the mechanism. The wrench is not
affected by extreme changes of temperature.
Unpacking
After unpacking unit. make sure ail parts are present. If any part is
missing or damaged. do not attempt to use the product. Contact customer
service. Shipping damage claim must be filed with carrier.

General Safety Information
Always wear safety goggles when using this product. Your torque wrench was
calibrated and tested before leaving the factory and is guaranteed to meet or
exceed ASME B107.14 standard. Because your torque wrench is a precision
measuring instrument, it should be serviced by and authorized repair center

CAUTION
DO NOT continue pulling on the wrench after the pre-set torque has been
reached.
Pressure must be taken off the handle and the wrench must be allowed to
automatically reset itself.
CAUTION
Ratchet mechanism may slip or break if dirty, mismatched or worn parts are
used. Ratchets that slip or break can cause injury.
Operation
- Pull the lock lever back to the position.
- Adjust the set knob to desired scale.
- Push the lock lever forward to the position.
- Install the proper socket or attachment to the square drive and apply to the object being torqued. Applying a steady pull to the center of handle, and stop pulling until you hear a “click” sound. The release is distinct and unmistakable. [t can be fett as well as heard. When pressure és removed from the handle, the torque wrench will automatically reset itself.
RELEASE FORCE TO RESET
Use of extensions and adapters
When using an extension or adapter (increasing the effective length of the
torque wrench) the output torque value will change. To calculate the new
torque output of the torque wrench, use the following formula:
TW = Torque wrench scale reading
TA = Torque exerted at end of adapter
L = Distance between square drive and hand position
A= Length of adapter or extension
NOTE: A number of variables including the length of the adapter or extension, length of the torque wrench and variations in hand positions on the torque wrench will affect the accuracy of the above calculation.\

Maintenance
safety precautions should be followed. Ihe following information will keep the product operating properly.
MINOR AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
- The internal mechanism of split beam torque wrench is lubricated during assembly. Do not attempt to lubricate the wrench’s internal mechanism.
- Clean wrench by wiping with clean cloth. Do not immerse wrench in liquids when cleaning.
- Store torque wrench in protective case at its lowest torque setting. Do not force handle below its lowest setting.
- Periodic recalibration is necessary to maintain accuracy, once a year or after 5,000 times usage. An out-of-calibration torque wrench can cause damage to the tool.
MAJOR MAINTENANCE, SERVICE AND PART REPLACEMENT
- Disassembly of the torque wrench is not suggested. Please contact your local service center if you have any questions.
- Head kits are available as spare parts. The part number is PRT12250-HK. Order from your ATD Tools supplier.
WARRANTY
1 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
THIS WARRANTY AND CONFIRMED RECEIPT(S) SHOULD BE RETAINED BY THE CUSTOMER
AT ALL TIMES
Your PLT-12250 is warranted for a period of 12 months from the original
purchase date.
For a period of one (1) year from your purchase date, ATD Tools, Inc. will
repair any defect in material or workmanship free of charge. Improper use of
these products, including but not limited to the application of excessive
force will affect performance and may result in injury. The warranty does not
apply to wrenches which do not function properly or within specified accuracy
because of wear, improper or unreasonable use, damage not resulting from
defect or malfunction, or which have been altered. Calibration is warranted
for 90 days.
If this ATD product is altered, abused, misused, modified, or undergoes
service by an unauthorized technician, your warranty will be void. We are not
responsible for damage to ornamental designs you place on this ATD product and
such ornamentation should not cover any warnings or instructions or they may
void the warranty. This warranty does not cover scratches, superficial dents,
and other abrasions to the finish that occur under normal use. It also does
not cover normal wear items uniess they are deemed to be
factory defective.

Include a copy of your proof of purchase for any warranty request.
Subject to the law in your state:
- Your sole and exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of the defective product as described above.
- ATD is not liable for any incidental damages, including but not limited to, lost profits and unforeseeabie consequences.
- The repair and replacement of this product under the express limited warranty described above is your exclusive remedy and is provided in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied. All other warranties, including implied warranties and warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose are disclaimed and, if disclaimer is prohibited, these warranties are limited to one year from your date of purchase of this product.
Some states’ laws do not allow limited durations on certain implied warranties and some states’ laws do not allow limitations on incidental or consequential damages. You should consuit the law in your state to determine how your rights may vary.
