FAQ
Q1: How is Heart Rate measured?
The watch strikes a beam of light onto the skin. As the heart pumps blood,
blood vessels are filled with blood. Since blood tends to absorb green light
and reflect red light, the heart reflects lights of different colours when it
contracts and relaxes. The watch records the Heart Rate simply by detecting
these reflected lights.
Q2: Why does Blood Pressure measured with the watch deviate from that
measured with a sphygmomanometer?
The deviation between the watch and the sphygmomanometer in terms of the Blood
Pressure measured is caused by multiple factors. The sphygmomanometer measures
the Blood Pressure in the brachial artery while the watch measures the Blood
Pressure in the two main branches of the arterioles. If you use the watch and
a sphygmomanometer to measure the Blood Pressure at the same time, as the
blood flow in the arteries is in a centrifugal direction, the cuff puts
pressure on the area below the middle of your elbow when the sphygmomanometer
is measuring, so that the blood cannot flow smoothly to the arterial branches
below temporarily. The increased tension in the blood vessels will cause a
larger deviation of upper and lower blood pressure measurements.
