PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

The PR 22 UT has been designed for commercial broadcast, recording, and live sound reinforcement applications. This is a very rugged microphone, which makes it ideal for professional use where exceptionally low handling noise is needed. The PR 22 UT achieves its exceptional performance by using a special magnet structure and a large aluminum 1 1/8” low mass voice coil assembly. A unique internal rubber suspension system has been designed to reduce undesirable handling noise. Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind the source entering them out of phase. This produces a very linear cardioid pattern and reduces the proximity effect while achieving extreme articulation across its smooth 50 Hz – 18 kHz frequency response. This new Heil element is usable in extremely high sound pressure levels and is immune to overload conditions making it perfect for vocals. It produces a beautifully smooth audio response without the inconvenience of phantom or outside d.c. powering. This is one great live vocal microphone that has finally replaced the ‘ball mic’ of the 1970s. All Heil PR 22 UT microphones come in a leatherette carrying

  • Since 1982, Heil Sound has been the leading manufacturer of communications microphones and has a paramount understanding of phasing. When properly applied, this knowledge creates outstanding cardioid patterns with unbelievable rear rejection that removes unwanted sounds that try to enter from the off-axis rear. The pattern control of the Heil PR 22 is outstanding. This exceptional performance is achieved by using the ideal combination of materials for the large low-mass diaphragm and a special mixture of neodymium, iron, and boron that gives PR 22 the strongest magnet structure available.
  • In addition to the special magnet structure, the PR 22 achieves its exceptional performance by using a large 1 1/8″ low mass voice coil assembly with a unique internal Sorbothane suspension system that has been designed to reduce undesirable handling noise. Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind, entering them out of phase. Thus, the PR 22 produces a very linear cardioid pattern and reduces the proximity effect while achieving perfect articulation. This new Heil element is usable in extremely high sound pressure levels and is immune to overload conditions making it perfect for vocal and live sound applications.
  • The PR 22 is supplied with a leatherette carrying bag, a mic clip, and three metal windscreens (black, silver, and gold).
  • The HEIL PR 22 UT (Utility) is the award-winning dynamic PR 22 microphone. To help reduce the cost we have pared down the packaging options.
