Thank you for choosing Richell’s product. Please read this Instruction Manual carefully before use, and use the product properly. Please also keep this manual intact and in a convenient location for all to see and read. The figures used in this manual are to show operation method or structure, and may look different from the actual product. If you give this product to someone else, please also give this Instruction Manual to the new owner.
Intended Use
The door on this product will only swing one way and is designed to install
in areas, such as hallways, to keep cats (up to 11 lbs.) from escaping.
Please refer to Before Installation on page 6 for door opening directions.
Features
- The height of the product makes it harder for cats to jump over even with their strong feet.
- This gate has no horizontal bars for cats to hook their feet.
- Door feature allows users to pass through easily.
Part Name
Before assembling this product, make sure the following parts are included:
Installable Location
- Openings with a height of 71.3″ or more and width between 28.3″ and 37.4″. Extension set (sold separately) is available to expand the Gate to 42.1″.
- The area for Door to swing on the side where cats are contained must be level with no step or slope.
- As the product is a tension-mount gate, please choose a wood pillar or a studs of a wall. The installation surface must be 3.9″ or more in width, straight, strong and flat.
- Do not install the product in a location that does not have studs, such as veneer or drywall to prevent walls from being damaged.

Explanation of Symbols
The following symbols are used in this Instruction Manual to indicate matters
essential to safe use of the product. Please read and understand the meaning
of the symbols before using this product.
Warning
- This product is designed to install in locations, such as hallways, to keep cats from escaping. Do not use this product for any purposes other than its intended use.
- This product is designed for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors.
- This product cannot completely prevent cats from escaping. Please walk through the Gate with special attention to cats trying to escape.
- Do not leave any object around the product. It could be used as a footstool for cats to jump over the Gate using the object.
- Do not install the Gate around the top of stairs. It may cause an unexpected accident including a fall from stairs.
- Do not install the Gate by an emergency exit. It may obstruct emergency escape.
- Do not install the Gate close to glass doors. It may cause glass breakage and result in bodily injury.
- Be sure to lock the Door, unless it is intentionally left open. An Improperly locked Door may cause cats to escape or to be caught by the Door and may result in bodily injury.
- Do not lean on or hang on the Gate. The Gate may be detached from the wall and fall.
- After opening the package, store or discard the box and bags to keep them out of reach of children.
Caution
- Do not place this product near any heat sources, such as heater. It may cause product deformation, damage or burn.
- Please install the Gate within the measurements specified in Installable Locations . It cannot be properly installed at any location outside of the specified measurement.
- Please open and close the Door with caution to avoid your finger or hand being caught. Please also make sure cats are not around the Gate.
- Make sure the Gate is secured on daily basis. Please tighten Adjuster Knob, Bolts, Screws, Door Slats or connection areas of Extension as needed.
- Discontinue to use the product immediately, if you notice any abnormality with the product or installation location.
- Please use caution when walking through the gate to avoid tripping.
- Do not alter this product or use substitute parts. It may cause accident or malfunction of the product.
- For uninstalling, support the top part of the Gate to prevent the Gate from falling.
- The Door can open more than 90 degree. If it touches a wall, please use a padding to protect the Door and wall.
Important
- Please choose only installable Locations . Installing in any other locations may cause damage on a wall.
- Please note that installation of this product may cause some scratches on the Installation location.
- Store any unused parts out of reach of children.
When Assembling
- For your safety, please assemble this product in a location large enough and flat.
- Lay the product flat to assemble. Assembling it in a raised state may be dangerous if it falls.
- Please use mat, blanket or cardboard underneath the product to protect the product or floor from scratching.
- Please wear gloves to protect your hands from any injury.
- Please assemble the product with caution to prevent your hand or finger from being caught.
- Always assemble the product with 2 or more people.
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver for assembly.
- Temporarily tighten the Bolts while assembling and retighten them once the product is assembled.
- Please check each part for loose connection after assembly.
How To Assemble
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver for assembly.
- Always assemble it with 2 or more people.
Assemble the Door Frame
- Lay the Door Frames flat as shown in the figure below.
- Insert the Connection of the Bottom Door Frame halfway into the Top Door Frame.
Assemble the Door Slats
Connect the Door Slats by turning one of them in the direction of arrow.
8 sets of Top and Bottom Door Slats are included.
One side of each Slat has threading.
Assemble the Door Frame and the Door Slats
- Insert the Door Slats into the Holes on the Top Door Frame, and
- Place the Bottom Door Frame close to the Door Slats.
- Insert the Door Slats into the Holes on the Bottom Door Frame halfway.
- Hold the connection area of the Top Door Frame and the Bottom Door Frame to completely insert them.
- Secure the Top Door Frame and the Bottom Door Frame with the Bolts at 8 locations.
Assemble the Outer Frame
- Lay the Outer Frame flat as shown in the figure below.
- Insert the Connection of the Bottom Outer Frame into the Top Outer Frame completely.
- Secure the Top Outer Frame and the Bottom Outer Frame with Bolts at 8 locations.
Assemble the Extension
Before assembling the product, please check required quantity of parts
listed in the Preparation of Parts section.
- Connect the Extensions by turning one of them in the direction of arrow and attach necessary parts to the Adjuster Bolts.
- Prepare parts in accordance with the Preparation of Parts’
- Insert the Adjuster Bolt into the Hole located on the side of the Frame.
Preparation of Parts
The number of parts will vary depending on the width of installation location. Prepare the parts by referring to the chart below. Please keep any unused parts out of reach of children.
Before Installation
Set the Gate with the Door opening to the right as seen from the side where
cats are contained.
Place shafts located on the Top and the Bottom of Frame on the right as seen
from the side where cats are contained.
If the Gate is installed with the Door opening to the left, a cat might unlock the door to escape.
Installation Method

Stand the Outer Frame
Stand the Outer Frame at installation location with the Rubber feet on the bottom. -
Pull out the Adjuster Knob
Pull the Top Adjuster Knob out from the Outer Frame until the Rubber on Adjuster reaches the wall. -
Secure the Outer Frame
-
Turn the Adjuster Knob in the direction of arrow to bring it closer to the Outer Frame.Please tighten the 2 Adjuster Knobs until no space is between them and they do not come loose.

Continue to turn the Adjuster Knob to increase the tension until the Rubber on Adjuster is securely adhered to the wall. Follow the same procedure to secure the Bottom Adjuster.
Make sure the Rubber on Adjusters are adhered to the wall at 4 locations. If it is not adhered, the Gate may fall and result in an unexpected accident.
Secure the Extension
Adjust Nuts to have space between each Extensions less than 1.8″ and tighten
them to secure.
Caution
If the space between Extensions is 1.8″ or more, a cat may pass through or
be caught in the space. If the right and left side of Extension are not
secured with nuts, the similar accident may occur. Please secure the Extension
with the Nuts after adjusting the space.
Install the Door
Insert the Bearing on the Door into the Shaft on the Frame.
Install the Plate
Attach the Plate on the Door Frame by the Screws with the Cushioning Material
of the Plate facing the Outer Frame.
Install The Locking Member
Remove one of the Screws from Locking Member, insert them into the Holes from
inside and outside of the Outer Frame. Secure the Locking Member in a
horizontal position with the Screw.
Installation Check
Shake the upper section and the lower section of product by holding the
Door and Outer Frame to check if it comes off or wobbles.
CAUTION Make sure the Gate is secured on daily basis. Please retighten the Adjuster Knobs, Bolts, Screws, Door Slats and connection area of the Extensions as needed.
Opening/Closing Door Check
Release the Lock by turning the Locking Member to a vertical position and open
the Door. Turn the Locking Member to a horizontal position after close the
Door.
How To Clean
- Wipe off this product with washing cloth after squeezed firmly using a mild detergent and water. After cleaning, place the product in a shaded area to air dry to prevent discoloration, warping, rust and mold.
- Do not use a scrub brush and/or a polishing powder as these may cause scratches, rust and/or discoloration to the product.
- When using creosol or other disinfectants, make sure to dilute them, otherwise damage to the product finish or discoloration may occur.
- Do not use harsh chemicals such as thinner, benzene or alcohol as these may cause discoloration or abrasion to the finish.
