How To Use Water Sensi ve Paper
To avoid smudging, always handle the paper by the edges. Tweezers or
waterproof gloves will keep the paper from ac va ng while handling.
Please keep the paper stored in the sealed package when not in use.
Once ready to begin assessing your spray coverage, iden fy areas you would
like to check and deploy the paper. Depending on the applica on, you can
either clip or staple them to branches, leaves or vines, a ach them to wooden
laths, or for aerial spraying a ach to blocks spaced at intervals of 3 to 10
feet. It is good prac ce to note the loca on on the back of the card. A er
spraying is complete allow the paper to dry, collect and analyze.
How to Evaluate the Paper
A visual inspection will yield an immediate general analysis of your applica on.
- Overdosing: heavily covered paper with no defined droplets
- Underdosing: sporadic, minimal specks
- Off-target: no droplets
Counting the drops is a simple and more accurate way to assess your results. Here are some sampling standards to use for reference:
- 20-30 droplets per cm2 : insecticides and pre-emergent herbicides
- 20-40 droplets per cm2 : contact foliar herbicides
- 50-70 droplets per cm2 : fungicides
As with most things these days, there are smartphone apps available for
downloading to make droplets assessment easier.
