Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the COMBO DELUXE 65′ PREAMP pedal. In this
unit you will find a true to life digital simulation of a 1965 Blackface
Fender Deluxe Reverb combo amplifier, created using TC Electronics unique
AMPWORX modeling technology. Every detail of the original tube amp has been
lovingly re-created in painstaking detail by the TC tone technicians, right
down to every last component in the circuit. Bringing you the best digital amp
modeling experience available.
Fender, Reverb Deluxe, Blackface Reverb Deluxe, Twin Reverb and Blackface Twin Reverb are trademarks or registered trademarks of Fender Musical Instruments Corp.
Reverb
Included in this pedal is a 4-second convolution reverb created using an IR
(Impulse Response) taken directly from the original GIBBS reverberation unit
found in the Reverb Deluxe*, consisting of a long, dual-spring reverb tank.
Celestion CAB SIM
To provide you with a DI-ready pedalboard setup solution for connection to PA
systems, recording interfaces and headphones, we’ve partnered up with the best
in the business and supplied you with an official Celestino Digital impulse
response of a 12” G12M Readback so it’s ready to roll right out of the box via
dedicated DI and Headphone outputs.
Custom MODS
What would a beautiful vintage tube amp be without a couple of hand-crafted
boutique mods? We’ve added 3 optional modifications, so you can tailor the
pedal to your liking:
- REVERB TONE – The reverb on this amp is fantastic but everyone likes their reverbs slightly different, so we added a tone control to the reverb, allowing you to dial it in to be darker or as bright as you like. Set this global control in its neutral 12 o’clock position and you’ll instantly have that infamous classic spring sound of the Reverb Deluxe*.
- BRIGHT SWITCH – If you really want to cut heads out there then activate the BRIGHT switch to add a spattering of extra sparkle and bite to your top end.
- MIDDLE CONTROL – You would be right in thinking that the Reverb Deluxe never had a MIDDLE control in the tone stack. After a huge influx of requests from customers Fender added a MIDDLE knob to the Blackface Twin Reverb amplifier, so we’ve added that same control to COMBO DELUXE 65’. However, setting this control at its neutral 12 o’clock position will get you straight back to a stock Reverb Deluxe.
Controls
NOTE: All controls on the back panel of the pedal are global and not saved per channel. Intended to “set and forget”.
NOTE: All control values on the top panel of the pedal and the REVERB footswitch status, are independent per channel and save their settings automatically when you switch between channels.
- IN – Connect your instrument to this jack by using an instrument cable with a ¼” TS connector.
- OUT – Outputs the amplifier model without speaker cab sim. Connect to dedicated power amplifier, amp FX RETURN, amplifier input or external IR (Impulse Response) loader.
- DI (CAB SIM) – Outputs the amplifier model, combined with official Celestino Impulse Response speaker cabinet for direct input to audio interface, FRFR (full range) cabinet or PA system.
- REVERB TONE – Tweaks the global reverb tone for both channels. 12 o’clock position is neutral and accurate to the original spring reverb tank.
- BRIGHT – Global mod switch for both channels. Adds extra brightness and top end bite.
- DC IN – Connect to a standard 9 VDC /300 mA power supply with center pin negative connector.
- USB – Connect to a computer using the included mini-USB cable for firmware updates.
- PHONES – Connect headphones with a 1/8″ (3.5 mm) stereo jack. Includes AMP MODEL with CAB SIM.
- REVERB – Sets the amount of reverb. This reverb is a 4-second convolution sampled from the original spring reverb tank of a 1965 Reverb Deluxe*.
- GAIN – Sets the amplifier gain (corresponds to the “VOLUME” control on the original Reverb Deluxe Amplifier*).
- LEVEL – Sets the output level with independent control per channel. Caution: AMPWORX pedals have a lot of output level on tap.
- BASS – Adjusts low-end frequencies within the tone stack.
- MIDDLE – Adjusts the midrange frequencies. Based on a MIDDLE control of the Twin Reverb. 12 o’clock position is accurate to the original Reverb Deluxe tone stack.
- TREBLE – Adjusts high range frequencies within the tone stack.
- REVERB FOOTSWITCH – Press to toggle the reverb on/off for current channel. The corresponding LED will light when the reverb is active.
- CHANNEL FOOTSWITCH – Press to toggle between the Green (clean) and Red (more gain) channels in Dual Channel mode. Press to toggle pedal on/off in Bypass Mode
- CHANNEL + REVERB – Press both footswitches simultaneously to change between footswitch modes. See “Footswitch Modes” for more details.
Footswitch Modes
Your AMPWORX pedal has two different footswitch modes, Dual Channel Mode and
Bypass Mode, which will change the function of the CHANNEL footswitch.
Press both footswitches simultaneously to change between footswitch modes.
Both LED’s will flash RED for DUAL CHANNEL MODE or GREEN for BYPASS MODE.
Dual Channel Mode
In Dual Channel Mode the CHANNEL footswitch will toggle between the Green and
Red channels of the amp model. In this mode your AMPWORX pedal is always on.
The Green channel in COMBO DELUXE 65′ is based on the normal channel of the
Fender Reverb Deluxe.
The Red channel in COMBO DELUXE 65′ is based on the VIBRATO channel of the
Fender Reverb Deluxe which has more gain and a slightly different voicing.
Dual Channel Mode is the default mode when you unbox your pedal.
Bypass Mode
In Bypass Mode the CHANNEL footswitch will toggle the pedal on/off.
The last channel you had selected when in Dual Channel Mode is the one that
will be active when the pedal is active in Bypass Mode.
