HOBBYWING Datalink Firmware
Product Information
The Datalink is a device that allows for firmware upgrades via UART
connection using a Type-C cable. There are two types of Datalink available: a
new type and a history type, depending on the production date. Please ensure
that you choose the appropriate type for scanning.
Product Usage Instructions
- To upgrade the firmware, select “Uart-> ESC” on the Datalink after scanning. The ESC information will be displayed on the screen.
- Power on the ESC and wait for approximately 3 seconds, then click “Stop”.
- On the Datalink, click on the drop-down list at “Available version” and select the desired firmware version.
- Click “Update” to start the firmware upgrade process.
- Wait for the upgrade to complete.
- After the upgrade is completed, repeat the steps on page 8 of the user manual to check whether the upgrade was successful or not.
- If the upgrade fails due to accidental power off during upgrading or any other cases, please repeat all the upgrade steps again.

TIPS:
- Please power Datalink by USB port only.
- The ESC requires power supply in the upgrade process. The details will show below.
- For signle ESC upgrading, please prioritize the use of D1 port.
- For upgrading more than one ESC, you can use D1-D8 port. They can be identified at the same time, but the upgrading still goes one by one.
- Whether the black and white cable is plugged in or not will not affect the upgrade.
- Please check the definition about the cable used for upgrading on the ESC’s user manual.
- If the LED light flashes red. Please try to upgrade the firmware of Datalink, or contact our after-sales service.
SOFTWARE
TIPS:
We have a new type and a history type depending on the production date.
Please choose one of these two types for scanning.
Here’s the example of history type. Select ” Uart-> ESC”, after scanning, the
ESC information will be displayed on the screen.
After power on the ESC about 3 seconds, click ”Stop”.
Click out the drop-down list at ”Available version”, select the firmware version that you want and click ”Update”.
Waiting for the upgrade complete.
After the upgrade is completed, repeat the steps as page 8 to check whether the upgrade is successful or not. If upgrade failed by powering off by accident during upgrading or other cases, please try all upgrade steps again.
