Safety instructions

Preliminary notes

  • Prior to installation, ensure that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment of the device are compatible.
  • The adjustment conditions for this device are stated on the label (or data plate).
  • This device is not connected to a combustion products evacuation the device. It shall be installed and connected with current installation regulations. Particular attention shall be given to the relevant requirements regarding ventilation.

Safety precautions when handling liquid gas
WARNING! Failure to obey these warnings could result in death or serious injury.
Explosion hazard

  • After use always disconnect the liquid gas cylinder.
  • Store liquid gas cylinders away from heating or cooking devices and other light or heat sources in a well-ventilated area out of the reach of children.
  • Never store liquid gas cylinders in unventilated areas or below ground level (funnel-shaped holes in the ground).
  • Never store liquid gas cylinders in buildings such as garages.
  • Any indoor storage must comply with national regulations.
  • Do not store liquid gas cylinders on their side.
  • Keep liquid gas cylinders away from direct sunlight. The temperature should not exceed 50°C.

Operating the device safely
DANGER! Failure to obey these instructions will cause death or serious injury.
Hazard of carbon monoxide poisoning

  • The process of burning liquid gas produces carbon monoxide which accumulates inside enclosed areas.

  • Only use this device with sufficient ventilation.Suffocation hazard

  • Operating this device in an unventilated area will reduce the amount of oxygen in this area.

  • Do not use the device as a space heater.

  • The use of a gas cooking appliance results in the production of heat, moisture and products of  combustion in the room in which it is installed.
    – Ensure that the kitchen is well ventilated especially when the device is in use.
    –Keep natural ventilation holes open or install a  mechanical ventilation device (e.g, a mechanical extractorhood).

  • .Prolonged intensive use of the device may call for additional ventilation, for example opening of a window, or more effective ventilation, for example increasing the level of mechanical ventilation where present

Explosion hazard

  • Do not use this device if it is leaking, damaged or does not operate properly.

  • Never use the device in the following situations:
    – At petrol stations
    – On ferry boats
    – While transporting the caravan or mobile home with a transport vehicle or tow truck

  •  In case of fire shut off the gas supply.

  • Do not place chemicals, flammable materials or spray aerosols near this device.

  • Never use a naked flame to check for gas leaks.

  • In case of gas smell:
    – Do not attempt to light this device.
    – Extinguish any naked flames.
    – Turn off the gas supply.
    – Disconnect the device from the gas supply.
    – When using the device indoors, open the windows and evacuate the vehicle.
    – Have the gas system checked by a specialist.

  • Only attach or detach the gas container outdoors away from a naked flame, pilot  lightor other source of  ignition and only when this evice is cool to touch.

  •  Before using the gas container, check that the seal between this device and the gas container iin place and in good condition.

  • If the seal is damaged or worn, do not use this device.

  • Turn off the gas supply at the gas container after use.

Fire hazard

  • This device must be kept away from flammablematerials during use.

  • Do not place any objects other than cookware on or against this device. Never place this device near flammable materials (paper, dry leaves, textiles).

  • Keep flammable objects away from the burner.

  • Position cookware handles as follows:
    – Never allow cookware handles to extend beyond the edge of the device.
    – Turn cookware handles inward, but not extending over other burners.

  • Do not excessively heat grease or oil.

  • Only use dry pot holders to handle hot cookware.

  • Turn off the device before removing the cookware.

  • Only operate this device when an adult can attend to it.

Burn hazard

  • Accessible parts may be very hot. Keep young children away.

CAUTION! Failure to obey these cautions could result in minor or moderate injury.
Burn hazard

  • Use protective gloves when handling hot components.

  • Let the device to cool down before touching it with bare hands.

  • When a burner is ignited manually:
    – Use long matches or a suitable lighter.
    – Remove the hands quickly as soon as the burner ignites.

  • The use of alcohol or prescription or non-prescription drugs may impair your ability to properly assemble or safely operate this device.

  • Do not use an external timer or remote control system.

Target groups

The assembly and installation of the gas connection must be performed by a qualified person who has demonstrated skill and knowledge related to the construction, installation and operation of gas appliances and has received safetytraining to identify and avoid the hazards involved.

Intended use

The cooktop and gas oven is intended for cooking and baking food.
CU351MK only: The cooktop and gas oven is additionally intended for grilling food.
The cooktop and gas oven is intended for boat and marine use only. For use in enclosed spaces the requirements shown in fig. 5, page 7 must be met. In cases with 3 walls 30 % of the total wall area must be open and unrestricted. The cooktop and gas oven is not intended to be used on flying decks, in vehicles or buildings.
This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for proper installation and/or operation of the product.
Poor installation and/or improper operating or maintenance will result in unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for any injury or damage to the product resulting from:

  • Incorrect assembly or connection, including excess voltage
  • Incorrect maintenance or use of spare parts other than original spare parts provided by the manufacturer
  • Alterations to the product without express permission from the manufacturer
  • Use for purposes other than those described in this manual Kampa reserves the right to change product appearance and product specifications.

Technical description

The cooktop and gas oven can cook and bake.
CU351MK only: The cooktop and gas oven additionally can grill. The cooktop and gas oven is attached with mounting brackets and a pin that ensure the device stays in place during wave movements.The device is equipped with a cookware support that ensures  that the cookware stands firmly on the cooktop and does not slide during wave  movements. The cooktop and gas oven must beconnected to a gas  cylinder.’

Installation

WARNING! Explosion hazard

  • Before installing the cooktop and gas oven ensure that the gas quality and pressure and the gas supply regulators are compatible with the cooktop and gas oven. Observe the gas regulation specification for the cooktop and gas oven on the data plate and the specifications in chapter “Technical data” on page 27.
  • The cooktop and gas oven is not connected to a fume hood. Install the cooktop and gas oven in accordance with the applicable installation regulations.

Choosing an installation location
When selecting the location for setting up the cooktop and gas oven, observe the following instructions:

  • Position the cooktop and gas oven outdoors or in an enclosed space that meets the requirements as shown in fig. 5, page 7.
  • The place must be well ventilated.
  • Do not place the cooktop and gas oven in a dip to prevent any gases from accumulating there.
  • Keep the cooktop and gas oven protected from wind and direct drafts.
  • The ground must be firm, level and stable.
  •  The housing and the grill cabinet get very hot during operation. The cooktop and gas oven  must stand on a base that can withstand heat ofat least 80 °C.

Connecting to the gas cylinder
The cooktop and gas oven is operated with commercial gas cylinders available in the country where it is used (fig. 6, page 8).
The gas cylinder must meet the following conditions:

  • The gas cylinder must always be placed in the compartment provided for it.
  • The gas cylinder must always be placed vertically.
  • The gas cylinder must be provided with a pressure regulator that is easily accessible and not covered. The gas supply connected to the  devicemust  be arigid metal pipe with sealed connections. If a flexible hose is used, the following conditions must be met:
  • The hose must be easily accessible for inspection purposes.
  • The hose must be protected from contact with other parts that heat up.
  • The hose must be protected against damage.
  • The hose must be protected from being pinched by moving parts such as drawers.
  • The hose must not be longer than 1.5 m.
  • The hose must be replaced before its expiration date.
  1.  Connect the pipe or hose of the gas cylinder to the cooktop and gas oven (fig. 7 to fig. 8, page 9). The hose must be tightened using a suitable spanner such as an adjustable wrench to obtain a gas tight seal.
  2. Check the gas hose or pipe for leakage using a foaming agent, e. g. soap. !

WARNING! Explosion hazard
Do not use a flame or corrosive liquid to check the gas supply for leaks.
Mounting the cooktop and gas oven

  1.  Ensure sufficient distance from the walls and other cabinets (see fig. 9, page 10).
  2. Mount the cooktop and gas oven as shown in fig. 0 to fig. a, page 11.

Operation

WARNING! Explosion hazard

  • Ignite the burners as soon as the gas supply is switched on. Otherwise, gas may accumulate in the burner area and cause an explosion.
  • The entire ignition process must be visible from above and must not be obscured by cookware placed on the cooktop.

NOTICE! Damage hazard
CU351MK only: Do not use the grill formore than 25 minutes.
NOTE

  • During the operation of the cooktop and gas oven, a slight noise can be heard, which is caused by the gas escaping.
  • Smoke can occur when using cooktop and gas oven for the first time. This is  caused by deposits of machine oilburning and stops after approx. 10 minutes.
  • CU351MK only: The grill can not beused as an oven.
  • When using propane (G31) the flame is blue without yellow peaks.
  • When using butane (G30) the flame is blue with yellow peaks when ignited. The yellow peaks become more intense when the burner is heated.

Igniting the burners

➤Ignite the cooktop as shown in fig. 12 (1) page 12 and fig.13 page 13.
➤CU351MK only: Ignite the grill as shown infig.12(2) page 12 and fig.14 page 14.
➤Ignite the oven as shown in fig. 12(3) page and fig. 15, page 15.

Regulating the burners
NOTICE! Damage hazard
Ensure that the baking sheet, oven rack and the cookware do not come into contact with the flames inside the oven.
NOTE

  • After igniting the oven for the first time, leave the oven on the highest temperature for least 30 minutes before regulating it.
  • After igniting the cooktop for the first time, leave the corresponding cooktop flame on the highest flame size for 15 – 20 minutes before regulating it.

➤Set the corresponding temperature control to the desired temperature or flame size (see chapter “Temperature knobs” on page 23 and chapter “Oven temperature ranges” on  page 23).
✔ When the burner of the oven is ignited, the flame remains at the highest flame. When the oven reaches the set temperature, the flame automatically returns to a lower flame.

Using the cooktop

WARNING! Fire hazard
The flame must not extend beyond the edge of the cookware. Center the cookware over the burner and provide a secure stand using the cookware support.
➤Ensure to use a suitable cookwear. Observe the cooktop burner and cookware diameters:

➤Secure the cookware in the cookware support using the knobs on the cookware support (see fig. 16, page 16).

Using the grill (CU351MK only)
CAUTION! Burn hazard

  •  Pull out the heat shield to protect the knobs from being heated by the grill.
  • The heat shield is very hot while and after operating the grill. Wear protective gloves when touching the heat shield.

➤Use the heat shield as shown in fig.17, page 16.
Switching the cooktop and gas oven off
➤Switch off the cooktop and gas oven as shown in fig. 18 page 17.

Saving energy

➤Switch off the cooktop and gas oven after use (see chapter “Switching the cooktop and gas oven off” on page 25).
➤Close the oven door while using the oven.

Cleaning and maintenance

WARNING! Explosion hazard
Do not use a flame or corrosive liquid to check the gas supply for leaks.
CAUTION! Burn hazard
The cooktop and gas oven is very hot while and after operating. Switch off the cooktop and gas oven. Let the cooktop and gas oven cool down before cleaning, packing up or transporting it.
NOTICE! Damage hazard

  •  Do not use abrasive, corrosive, chlorinated and coarse cleaning agents or brushes to clean the cooktop and gas oven.
  • Do not use steam cleaners.
  • Do not use compressed air to clean the gas circuit.
  • Remove vinegars, salts, citric acid, or other acidic or alkaline substances from the cooktop and gas oven.

➤Clean the cooktop and gas oven with a damp cloth using neutral cleaning agents (fig.19, page 17).
➤Clean the oven burner with water as shown in fig. 20, page 18.
➤To clean or replace the gas injectors contact an authorized service center.

Maintaining the burners
WARNING! Fire hazard
Spiders can spin webs and insects can build nests inside the burners. The webs and nests can obstruct gas flow and cause a fire. Remove any insects, spiders, nests or webs inside the burner.

  1. Check the burners twice a month for webs and nests.
  2. If necessary, remove the insects, spiders, nests and webs inside the burner.

Replacing the gas cylinder
WARNING! Health hazard

  • Replace the gas cylinder in a well-ventilated area.
  • Ensure that there are no open flames in the area.
  • Only replace the gas cylinder when the cooktop and gas oven is switched off.
  1. Close the gas valve on the gas cylinder.
  2. Unscrew the regulator from the gas cylinder.
  3.  If a gas hose is used, ensure that the hose is not defective.
  4. If necessary, replace the hose (see chapter “Replacing the hose” on page 26).
  5. Screw the regulator into the new gas cylinder by hand.

Replacing the hose
WARNING! Health hazard

  • Replace the hose in a well-ventilated area.
  • Ensure that there are no open flames in the area.
  • Only replace the hose when the cooktop and gas oven is switched off.
  1.  Close the gas valve on the gas cylinder.
  2.  Unscrew the regulator from the gas cylinder.
  3. Replace the gas hose.
  4. Screw the regulator into the gas cylinder by hand.
  5. Check the gas hose for leakage using a foaming agent, e. g. soap.

Storage
WARNING! Burn hazard
The cooktop and gas oven is very hot while and after operating. Switch off the cooktop and gas oven. Let the cooktop and gas oven cool down before packing up or transporting it.

  1. Close the gas valve on the gas cylinder.
  2. Clean the cooktop and gas oven (see chapter “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 25).

Troubleshooting

Fault Possible cause Remedy
The device does not ignit. The wrong gas is used. ➤ Ensure to use suitable

gas.
Observe the gas regulation specification for the cooktop and gas oven on the data plate. and the specifications in chapter “Technical data” on page 27.
➤ If necessary, replace the gas cylinder (see chapter “Replacing the gas cylinder” on page 25).
The gas cylinder is empty.| ➤ Replace the gas cylinder (see chapter “Replacing the gas cylinder” on page 25).
The hose is defective.| ➤ Replace the hose (see chapter “Replacing the hose” on page 26).
A malfunction or poor connections are present.| ➤ Reconnect the pipe or hose (chapter “Connecting to the gas cylinder” on page 23).
➤ If necessary, switch off the gas supply and contact an authorized  ervice agent.
The thermocouple is defective.| ➤ Switch off the gas supply and contact an authorized service
agent.
The cooktop and gas oven is defective.
The cooktop burners does not ignite.| No sparking occurs.| ➤ Set the corresponding cooktop burner knob to the lowest level and switch on the cooktop burner (see chapter “Igniting the burners” on page 24).

  • A copy of the receipt with purchasing date
  • A reason for the claim or description of the fault Note that self-repair or non-professional repair can have safety consequences and might void the warranty.

Disposal

➤ Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins wherever possible.
➤ Consult a local recycling center or specialist dealer for details about how to dispose of the product in accordance with the applicable disposal regulations.
