Parameters for use :
R-Motion® instruments must only be used in reciprocating (counterclockwise)
mode.
Indications for use :
R-Motion® endodontic instruments are intended for use in medical or
hospital facilities, by qualified health professionals.
R-Motion® Glider and R-Motion® Glider C instruments are designed for
catheterisation of root canals in reciprocating mode.
R-Motion® 20/25/30/40/50 instruments are designed for shaping and cleaning
root canals in reciprocating mode.
Contraindications :
Nickel-Titanium instruments must not be used on individuals with a known
allergic sensitivity to these metals.
Adverse reactions: None known.
Notice and precautions :
- Take several radiographs from different angles to determine the anatomy of the root canals (length, width and curvature).
- Irrigate the canal thoroughly and frequently after the R-Motion® instrument is removed.
- Regularly inspect the R-Motion® instrument during use, and discard if it shows any signs of wear (for example : straightening).
- If the R-Motion® instrument is not progressing easily, withdraw it from the canal, clean it, check its cutting edges, then irrigate the canal and repeat the process with an ISO 010 hand file.
- Single use instruments must not be retreated for subsequent use. This could compromise their integrity.
- Always inspect the instrument(s) before use, and discard (it) them if there are any visible defect(s).
- When an instrument reaches the end of its life, please dispose of it in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
Protocol for use
-
Create straight-line coronal and radicular access.
-
Use an ISO 010 hand file to explore the canal.
-
Determine the working length using a radiograph and/or an apex locator.
-
Use the mechanised R-Motion® Glider instrument, applying gentle strokes of 2-3 mm to establish a glide path until the working length is reached. After 3 strokes, remove and clean the instrument, then irrigate ; recapitulate with an ISO 010 hand file. Use of the R-Motion® Glider C is recommended for canals which require an instrument with more rigidity, and/or if the R-Motion® Glider is no longer progressing and can not reach the working length.
-
Select the R-Motion® single-file shaping instrument which is best suited to the anatomy of the canal being treated. In most cases, and depending on your approach to apical preparation, the R-Motion® 25 or R-Motion® 30 will be appropriate. If the radiographs do not allow you to clearly identify the anatomy of the canal, it can be gauged using hand files.
-
Start the shaping procedure, applying your usual irrigation/disinfection protocol.
-
Use gentle inward-outward movements of 2-3 mm, applying very light apical pressure and allowing the instrument to progress passively along the canal. After 3 strokes, remove and clean the instrument, then irrigate ; recapitulate with an ISO 010 hand file.
-
Repeat the previous step until the instrument has reached its working length. If necessary, a brushing motion may be applied to remove coronal interferences and/or ensure uniform shaping of irregular canals. If the instrument is no longer progressing, make one or more passes with the R-Motion® 20 instrument, then resume using the R-Motion® 25 or the R-Motion® 30. Once the working length has been reached, remove the instrument to prevent over-enlargement of the foramen.
Once all the canals have been shaped, proceed with the cleaning of the canals. For an optimal result, the use of XP-endo® Finisher is recommended.
Once the cleaning of the canals is completed, proceed to the next phase of treatment : -
Obturate with gutta-percha and sealer. TotalFill® BC Points™ and TotalFill® BC Sealer™ are recommended.
