case of adverse weather conditions, be particularly vigilant and adapt your
speed appropriately, especially on wet ground. It is advisable to remove the
battery when transporting your bike on the outside of your vehicle (bike
carrier, roof bar, etc.),
CAUTION: Like any mechanical component, a bike experiences high stress
and wears out. Different materials and components may react differently to
wear or fatigue. If the expected lifetime of a component has been exceeded, it
may break suddenly, potentially causing injury to the cyclist. Some signs of
wear such as cracks, discolorations or staining in areas of high stress
indicate that the component has exceeded its lifetime and should be replaced.
If in doubt, do not hesitate to contact our technicians, who will advise you
best on the maintenance to be carried out following the diagnosis of your

TESTED BY AN UNQUALIFIED PERSON.
Saddle and handlebar adjustment
It is important to adapt the settings of your bike to your form. Adjusting the saddle height To check the correct height of the saddle, you must sit with stretched legs, the heel resting on the pedal (fig. A). When pedalling, the knee will be slightly bent (fig. B).
The saddle must not go beyond the mark on the seat post: Minimum
insertion. If your saddle has damping springs, these must be protected in case
of the installation of a baby carrier to avoid the risk of pinching fingers.
Quick release
Your bike is equipped with a quick release to lock the seat post to the frame.
For effective support, adjust the adjusting nut and activate the lock lever by
hand.
Handlebar
To assemble the handlebar on the post, tighten the 4 post Screws between 5Nm
and 7Nm. Make sure the handlebar is centred on the post using the marking on
the handlebar. Stem
To disassemble the stem, completely unscrew the upper screw and loosen the
post screws, then remove the post. When reassembling, tighten the upper screw
to adjust the slack in the steering and then tighten the post screws, taking
care to align the post and the front wheel. We advise you to have these
operations carried out by a qualified technician.
Mounting the pedals
Place the right pedal (R) in the crank on the derailleur side (or chain side) and screw in the pivot with the 15 mm wrench provided for this purpose by turning it clockwise. Then place the left pedal (L) in the left crank and screw in the pivot anti-clockwise with the corresponding wrench. Attaching the wrong pedal can cause irreparable damage. Check if the pedal pivot is aligned with the crank thread before tightening. The internal threads of the crank and the pedals will not benefit from the warranty if the pedals were reversed during the assembly phase.
Tyres
Your bike is equipped with a 29inches (29”) wheel. Check tyre pressure. Riding
with tyres that are insufficiently inflated or over-inflated can impair
performance, cause premature wear, damage to the rim, reduce control or
increase the risk of accidents. For safe use, regularly check the condition of
the rims. If heavy wear or a notch is visible on one of the tyres, replace it
before using the bike.
THE DIMENSION OF AIR CAMERA IS SV19 40/62-584/635 MV 40MM 27,5-29
Valve

mm diameter disc at the front 200mm and at the rear wheel. Never splash oil or
lubricating material on the disc or pads, for example when servicing the chain
or derailleur. If this happens, you should change the pads, or degrease them.

Maintenance
Check-ups
In order to ensure your safety and the durability of your bike, we strongly
advise you to have your VAE periodically checked by an authorized
professional:
First check-up: after 1 month or 150 km
- Checking the tightness of the elements: crank, wheel, post, pedals, handlebar and saddle clamp
- Verification of the operation of the drivetrain and assist,
- Checking and adjusting of the brakes
- Tension and/or truing of the wheels.
After the first 1000 km and every 500 km – check the wear of the chain The bike has a very powerful mid-motor so a lot of the power goes through the chain and sprockets, so the chain will wear out faster than on a normal bike. Changing the chain regularly (before 0.07% stretch) will improve the life of the gears. the two smallest sprockets risk wearing before the rest of the cassette and can be replaced separately with the advice of a specialist.
Every year or 2000 km
- Check of wear levels (brake pads, transmission and tyres),
- Check bearings (bottom bracket, wheels, steering and pedals),
- Check cables (brakes and derailleur),
- Check lighting,
- Tension and/or truing of the wheels.
- Changing the break pads
Every 3 years or 6000 km
- Change of the drivetrain (chain, freewheel and chainset),
- Change of tyres,
- Check of wheel wear (spokes and rim)
- Tension and/or truing of the wheels.
- Check of electrical functions.
For a long life of the transmission it is important not to start and not to
accelerate on the smallest gears.
General maintenance
Apart from the periodic maintenance described above, we advise you to
regularly check the mechanical elements in order to detect if any replacement
is necessary on worn parts or if they are showing evidence of premature wear.
As a priority, regularly check the condition of the brakes, rims, tyres and
lighting.
Cleaning
This should preferably be done with a sponge moistened with warm soapy water;
for rinsing, a jet of water (without pressure) will be sufficient. Clean the
sides of the rims with alcohol or acetone. With salt water it is imperative to
rinse with fresh water after each use to prevent any risk of corrosion.
Lubrication
Lubrication is essential on the various moving components in order to avoid
corrosion. This must be carried out regularly on the ball bearings located in
the axles of the wheels, chain, derailleur and control cables. It is advisable
to use specialised oil for the chain and the derailleur. You should use grease
for the other components.
Regular checks
Tightening bolts: lever, crank, pedals and posts.
After-sales service
Wear parts
The different wear parts are standard elements. However, it is always
advisable to replace worn parts with the same components as those originally
installed. You will find these parts for sale at your dealership or in
specialised cycle shops.
Caution: Like any mechanical component, a bike experiences high stress
and wears out. Different materials and components may react differently to
wear or fatigue. If the expected lifetime of a component has been exceeded, it
may break suddenly risking injury to the cyclist. Cracks, scratches and
discolourations in areas of high stress indicate that the component has
exceeded its lifetime and needs to be replaced.
