Read the safety instructions before using the appliance.

IMPORTANT SAFETY MEASURES

Before using this appliance, carefully read the operating instructions and keep them in a safe place together with the warranty, the purchase receipt, and, if possible, the cardboard box. If you pass the appliance on to someone else, include the operating instructions.

  • The appliance is exclusively for domestic use in compliance with the intended purpose. This product is not designed for industrial use. Do not use it outdoors. Protect it from heat, direct exposure to sunlight, and humidity (never immerse the motor unit or the heating plate in liquids), and keep it away from objects with sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance gets wet or damp, immediately unplug it from the outlet.
  • Disconnect the appliance and always remove the plug from the outlet (by holding the plug and not by pulling on the cord) when it is not in use, when attaching accessories, when cleaning it or if it appears to be defective.
  • Do not operate the appliance without supervision. Always switch off the appliance before leaving the room. Remove the plug from the outlet.
  • Regularly check the appliance and the cord for any signs of damage. In this case, the appliance must not be used again.
  • Do not attempt to repair the appliance. Take it to an authorised technician. In order to prevent dangerous situations, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer, our technical assistance service, or an equally qualified electrician for replacing a defective power supply cord with an equivalent cord.
  • Use original accessories only.

When using electrical appliances, the following safety measures must always be followed.

All instructions must be read.

  • Never touch hot surfaces. Always use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electrical shocks or to avoid injuries, never allow cables, plugs, and the machine body itself to become immersed in water or other fluids.
  • When the appliance gets used by or near a child, supervision is necessary.
  • Never use an appliance should the cable or the plug be damaged due to the machine’s malfunctioning or after its having suffered damage of any nature. Take the appliance to the nearest authorised service centre to be checked, repaired, or for its correct operation to be verified.
  • Using accessories not recommended by the manufacturer could cause fires, electrical shocks, or injuries to persons.
  • Never let the cable dangle from tables or counters, or come into contact with hot surfaces.
  • Never rest the appliance on electrical or gas hobs, or place it in a hot oven.
  • Never use the appliance for any purpose other than that intended.
  • Be very careful when having to move the appliance when it contains hot oil or other hot fluids.
  • Allow the appliance to cool off before mounting or removing parts and before cleaning it.

KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS SAFE

Polarised plug

  • This appliance is equipped with a polarised plug. To reduce the risk of electrical shocks, this plug is meant to be inserted in a polarised socket. If the plug doesn’t fit into the socket completely, try reversing it. If it still doesn’t fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never attempt to modify the plug in any way.

Brief instructions regarding the cable

  • A power cable of suitable length to reduce the risk of tangling with or tripping over a longer cable, is supplied.
  • Extensions can be used with care taken when doing so.
  • Should an extension be used, its rated value must be at least equal to the
    electrical power of the appliance. The cable must be arranged so that it does not protrude onto the work top or onto a table top where it could be pulled at by children or cause the risk of tripping.

Children and the disabled

  • This appliance is not intended for use by children, persons with reduced physical, psychological, sensory or mental capabilities, or by persons who lack the necessary experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised by a responsible person in charge of their safety or have been given instructions for its use by that person.
  • Do not allow children to play with the appliance.

CAUTION: Use the appliance only with the correct base unit.
CAUTION: Never place the appliance or the jug on a source of heat or an open flame.
CAUTION: Risk of contact burns. When you remove the jug after heating, the heating plate and the bottom of the jug are still hot.

DISPOSING OF APPLIANCES AT THE END OF THEIR SERVICE LIFE

Respect the environment, do not dispose of electrical devices in domestic refuse collectors. Obsolete or defective devices must be disposed of by taking them to local collection points. Help to prevent potential risks for the environment and our health by using the correct disposal methods. Your town council can provide information about collection points.

INSTRUCTIONS ON USE

Position
The ideal installation site is a flat, non-slip surface.

Electrical connection

  1. Ensure that the main power supply agrees with the technical specifications for the appliance.
  2. Connect the power supply cord to a correctly installed and grounded socket.

Switching on/off

  • The appliance is on when it is connected to the power supply.
  • Start the appliance by pressing the button for the required preparation, only once the milk has been poured into the jug.
  • The appliance will stop automatically. Preparation times vary depending on the type and quality of the milk used and the preparation selected.
  • To stop the process manually, either press the previously selected preparation button again or remove the jug from the heating plate.

NOTE: If the process is stopped by removing the jug from the heating plate before it stops automatically, the motor will continue to run for a few seconds and then stop automatically.

BUTTONS, DISKS AND PREPARATION TIMES

| Hot milk froth and hot milk. Use the toothed disk to prepare hot milk froth (best with whole milk or partially skimmed milk).
Use the smooth disk to mix and heat the milk without frothing (works well with any kind of milk). The appliance will switch off automatically once the milk is at 64 °C (applies to both the MIN and MAX level of milk).| 60-300 sec

| Hot chocolate. Use the toothed disk to prepare hot chocolate (best with whole milk or partially skimmed milk). Use the amount of milk indicated on the beverage packet. Stir the milk and chocolate powder together before pouring them into the jug and again halfway through the preparation process.| 300-420 sec
| Frothed cold milk. Use the toothed disk to prepare cold milk froth (use skimmed milk – 0% fat content). The appliance will switch off automatically; however, for optimal results, stop frothing after about 30 seconds.| 180 sec

MIN milk level for the Milk Frother (about 125 ml).
MAX milk level for the Milk Frother (about 250 ml).
Preparation times vary according to the amount of milk used and the preparation selected.
The base of the jug is designed to spread the heat evenly, optimising preparation results and making cleaning easier and faster.

PREPARATIONS WITH TOOTHED DISK FOR FROTHING

Remove the lid from the jug.| Place the toothed disk over the pin inside the jug.
A spare toothed disk is housed beneath the motor base.| Pour the milk into the jug up to the MAX or MIN level shown on the inside. To prepare hot chocolate, add the cocoa powder.

Replace the lid on the jug.| Place the jug on the heating plate.| Start the appliance by pressing the button for the required preparation. The preparation process will stop automatically and the appliance will switch off.

CAUTION: Do not exceed the MAX level shown on the inside of the jug, otherwise the liquid will spill out of the jug during preparation.

Hot frothed milk
For the best results use milk with a fat content of 3.5% and add about 225 ml. Milk with a fat content of 1.5%, soy milk or lactose-free milk will not produce the same amount of froth.

Hot chocolate
Add the cocoa powder to the milk otherwise the mixing disk will block. For the correct amount, refer to the indications by the maker of the cocoa powder. For the best results it is advisable to mix the cocoa powder and milk before pouring in into the jug.

PREPARATIONS WITH SMOOTH DISK FOR MIXING

APPLIANCE CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Always unplug the power supply before cleaning the appliance. Wait until the appliance is cool. Clean the base unit with a clean, damp cloth without using cleansers. Do not immerse the motor unit or the heating plate in water. This could produce an electrical shock or fire. Do not use metal brushes or other abrasive implements. Never use sharp or corrosive cleaning materials.

Cleaning of jug, lid, and disks supplied
Remove the disk from the jug by lifting it upwards. Wash the jug, cover and disk with a soft cloth under running water; do not use aggressive detergents. To prevent losing them, store the disks underneath the base of the appliance. Clean the appliance after every use. The jug, devoid of accessory disk and lid, can be cleaned in a dishwasher, provided low-temperature programs are used (45-55°C) and placing it so that contacts with other crockery are avoided. Lid and disks are not dishwasher safe.
