- Tools Needed:
- 10mm socket and driver
- 17mm socket and driver
- White lithium grease
- Tachometer
- Torque wrench
- Required Parts:
- 7115203 kit
- Replacement Parts:
- None
- Removing the bad idle valve:
- Disconnect the spring from the idle cable and the speed control lever on the engine. (Figure 1)
- Use a 10mm socket and driver to loosen the idle cable bracket bolts then lift the cable out of the bracket. (Figure 2)
- Use a 17mm socket and driver to remove the idle valve from the pump. (Figure 3)
- Make sure the o-ring seal is in place on the idle valve and not stuck to the pump. (Figure 4)
- Installing the new idle valve:
- Apply a thin coating of white lithium grease onto the o-ring seals, install them into both sides of the idle valve, then insert the valve retainer bolt through the idle valve and o-ring seals. (Figure 4)
- Route the idle valve cable under the soap tank and use a 17mm socket and driver to install the idle valve onto the pump.
* Failure to properly torque the idle valve retaining bolt with a torque wrench to the manufacturer-listed settings could result in the retaining bolt breaking upon installation. (Figure 5)
* Recommended maximum torque setting is 7-8 ft-lbs. / 88-96 in lbs. / 10-11NM
3. Route the idle valve cable in front of the soap tank and insert it into the cable retention bracket. (Figure 2) See Figure 7 for proper idle-down cable routing.
4. Connect the spring to the idle valve cable and the speed control lever on the engine. (Figure 1)
5. Hook up a tachometer, and adjust idle speed by sliding the idle down cable back and forth in the bracket. Set low idle speed to 2600-2900 RPM with water in the unit, high-pressure hose installed, spray gun installed, machine running, spray gun not spraying (machine in bypass). Set high idle speed to 3450 RPM with water in the unit, high-pressure hose installed, spray gun installed, machine running, and spray gun spraying (machine not in bypass).
6. Use a 10mm socket and driver to tighten the idle valve cable retention bracket bolts. Tighten bracket bolts until the cable will not move when pulled on by hand.
