ASSEMBLY GUIDE
Thank you for choosing an American made product! REV May 2022

Warning and disclaimer:

Failure to follow warnings and instructions may result in INJURY OR DEATH, VEHICLE CRASH, PROPERTY DAMAGE and Void the warranty.
Hauling heavy loads at highway speed is a serious task. Please take it seriously.

  1. This kit is intended for heavy duty ladders. If you stand on the ladder and can wobble it you may not have a good experience. Ladders that are connected via holes through the sheet metal of the door we strongly recommend using backing plates to reinforce the door. If you have a clamp on ladder like a Prime Designs TM please confirm the ladder is installed per their instructions and test with your body weight.
  2. Be aware of low clearance sections or roads to avoid contact with ground. Use caution when crossing ditches and gullies bikes may hit depending on your set up.
  3. Check that ALL bolts and nuts are tightly secured monthly.
  4. Max per hook rating is 55 pounds.
  5. Remove E-Bike batteries prior to loading.
  6. This swing rack is not intended for rugged off-road use like rock crawling (bumpy forest roads are okay). Exercise better judgement and be more cautious when traveling with the bikes loaded.
  7. For those that live where they salt or treat the roads: we recommend washing the rack with soapy water after driving on salty roads and then spraying WD-40 inside some of the holes in all the tubes.
  8. Automatic car washes are bad in general. Do not go through any automatic carwash with any Lolo Rack products.

Pay attention to changing terrain! Be careful when navigating up and down steep inclines and
driveways and deep ditches.

Okay, LETS DO THIS!
Tools required:
• 9/16″ socket or wrench
• Cut off wheel (optional)
• Blue Loctite (thread locking compound)

Please note:
The following is a guide for ways to set up the ladder kit.
This is NOT tailored to any specific ladder.
YOU will have to adjust the spacing or orientation to suit YOUR needs.
Dropper seatpost or quick release seatpost collars are recommended.
Not all hardware needs to be used.

Loosely install bars to ladder.

  • The rubber pads go in between the Lolo plates and the vehicle ladder.
  • As of May 2022 the U bolts were replaced with plates and carriage bolts. See 3rd pic below.
  • Apply blue Loctite (thread locking compound) to the bolts securing the bars to your ladder. These bolts should be placed close together around the ladder uprights and tightened firmly. The plates may deform around the ladder slightly this is okay.
  • The bars are typically NOT centered on the ladder if you have rear barn doors like a Transit or Sprinter etc. Offset to one side as needed just enough to clear the other door.
  • Tighten all fasteners firmly. Check all fasteners and ladder to vehicle fasteners monthly.

Align handlebar carriers to suit.

  • The handlebar carriers NEED 2 fasteners to be secured. It is okay to have the long plate bolt securing the handlebar carriers on one or both sides of the carrier. The fasteners can be attached to any slot or hole or combination.
  • You don’t have to use the same holes or slots as the picture.
  • Carriage bolts can enter from the far side if needed for better fitment.
  • Tighten all fasteners firmly. Check all fasteners and ladder to vehicle fasteners monthly.

Repeat the above steps for the lower bar with the exception that the lower mounts only require one fastener. (there is no load carried by the lower mount)
• The distance from the top bar to lower bars be between 36-46 inches. So long as your rear tire sits into the tire mount cut out you are safe.

Align tire mounts to suit.

  • The tire mounts bar carriers only require one fastener. (there is no load carried by the lower mount) You can use one side of the u bolt plus a carriage bolt or 1 carriage bolts or 1 or 2 hex head bolts.
  • The fasteners can be attached to any slot or hole or combination.
  • It doesn’t need to same holes or slots as the picture.
  • Test fit with your bike. You want the bike to be essentially vertical.
  • Some sideways (left / right) skew is expected if you have any curve in your bike’s handle bars.

Tighten all fasteners firmly. Check all fasteners and ladder to vehicle fasteners monthly.

Assemble cords to the carriers and lower tire mounts:

INSERT THE CORD THRU THE HOLES FROM THE TOP AND TIE AN “OVERHAND” KNOT. This is the same as the rack. See @minute 14:20 of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osE9Ooncfoc <- Link!
Bar Carriers: Tie the knot so you have approx. 1-2 inches of tail past the knot.
Tire Bar: Tie the knot so you have 3-4 inches of tail sticking out past the knot. (fatbikes you’ll have less tail) The cord should be snug when it goes over the bike tire/rim.
ADJUST CORD LENGTH SO IT IS TIGHT OVER THE BARS AND TIRE WITH BIKE INSTALLED.
