INTENDED USE

Generic air-conduction hearing aids are wearable sound amplifying devices intended to compensate for impaired hearing.
The fundamental operating principle of hearing aids is to receive, amplify, and transfer sound to the eardrum of a hearing impaired person.
It will help people with mild to moderate hearing loss or those who just want to enhance their ability to hear conversations in a noisy environment.

BECOMING ACCUSTOMED TO AMPLIFICATION

While purchasing hearing aids is a major step, it is only one step in a process toward more comfortable hearing.
Successfully adapting to the amplification of your hearing aids takes time and consistent use.
You will enjoy more benefits from your Trobing hearing aids by taking the following actions:

  • Wear the hearing aids regularly in order to get comfortable with using them;
  • It takes time to get used to hearing aids. Ask your hearing care professional to design a schedule tailored just for you or follow our Three-Week Adapting Plan on Page 8-9;
  • As you get more comfortable with your hearing aids, increase the wearing time and wear them in multiple types of listening situations.

It may take as long as several months for your brain to get used to all the”new” sounds around you.
Following the above suggestions will give your brain time to learn how to interpret amplification and increase the benefits you get from using Trobing hearing aids.

GETTING STARTED

Before wearing your hearing aid, please use a cotton swab to clean the ear canal before wearing.
If the cerumen is too much, it will block the sound outlet of the hearing  id and causes weak sound.

Choose the best ear tip size

Your hearing aids come with three sizes of ear tips: small (two sets), medium (tow sets, with one comes already attached) and large.
Your ear tips should fit snugly in your ear canal.
If miss sized, you may hear feedback – a squealing or whistling sound that can be resolved with a different ear tip size.

Small Medium Large

Proper placement in ear

Hold the hearing aid shell between your thumb and index finger (DO NOT COVER THE MIC HOLE) and position it to your ear, twirl slowly and gently, insure the ear tips are tightly fitted in the ear canal.
If it is not tightly fitted, there will be feedback noise(whistling/howling/sharp sound).

Turn on / Turn off

  • Turn on: Press push-button for 3 seconds, the LED lights up for 3 seconds then turn off.
  • Turn off: Press push-button for 3 seconds, the LED lights up for 3 seconds then turn off.

The hearing aids will automatically turn off when there is no power.

The hearing aid beeps on volume change:

  • Volume level 4, you can hear four beeps

After volume level 4 (four beeps), short press the push-button, the device will reset to volume level 1 (one beep).

NOTE: Each side / right) is adjusted independently.

Charge your hearing aid
Before use, it is recommended to fully charge your hearing aid.

Put the hearing aid into the charging case, the digital display lights up (it displays only the power of the charging case), the hearing aid is charging.

  • Full Charge Time: 2-3 hours
  • Duration of Use: 20-30 hours

NOTE: When the hearing aid is placed in the charging case, it will automatically turn off; please turn it off manually if the charging case is out of power, otherwise it will cause whistling.

NOTE: If you hear feedback whistling, please check if the hearing aids are placed correctly.

NOTE: Make sure your hearing aids are dry before inserting them in the charger.

Charge the case
Use an adapter at least 5V/1 A to charge the charging case.
It takes about 1 hour to get fully charged and can charge the hearing aid 4-5 times.

THREE-WEEK ADAPTING PLAN

Adapting to your hearing aids will take some time.
Top audiologists recommend 3 weeks in order for your brain to adapt to wearing hearing aids.

The recommended schedule for getting used to your hearing aids is as follows:

First Week: Start by wearing your hearing aids for at least 1-2 hours per day while living your normal routine around the house in order to acclimate your ears to your hearing aids.
It is normal to get irritated by the fit of your hearing aids during the first few weeks.

Second Week: Start wearing your hearing aids outdoors.
As your ears acclimate to the hearing aid, extend the use to 3-4 hours per day.
At this point, you will start to notice little sounds you were unable to hear before.

Third Week: By the end of the third week, you can start having regular outdoor conversations at any volume, whether you’re at a crowded restaurant or at work.
You are now acclimated to the hearing aids!

  • We hear in our brain, not in our ears.
It will take your brain some time to fully adapt to the new sounds you are hearing It is not unusual, for example, to hear certain sounds, such as your own footsteps, or a newspaper rustling, or the refrigerator humming, that people with normal hearing take for granted and thus don’t consciously process.
Be patient and allow yourself a few weeks to adapt.
Your brain will learn to ignore them if they are not important.
Of course, if sounds are too loud or uncomfortable for you, contact your hearing care professional.

  • Conversational speech has many redundant cues.
Worrying about a word you may have missed will likely lead to additional missed words.
Focus on the essence of the conversation.
It may help to ask someone you are comfortable with to subtly alert you about the overall topic when listening in groups.

  • Before going to a restaurant, call ahead and request a seat away from the kitchen or bar area.
Remember that in noisy places, even normal hearing people may struggle to hear.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Please follow the advices below to have the best user experience and to prolong the life of your hearing aids.

  • Keep your hearing aids dry and clean.

  • Wipe the hearing aids with a soft cloth after use to remove grease or moisture.

  • Never use alcohol to clean your hearing aids, sound tubes, or ear tips.

  • Do not wear your hearing aids when putting on cosmetics, perfume, aftershave, hairspray, suntan lotion etc.
These might discolor the hearing aid or get into the hearing aid causing damage.

  • Do not immerse your hearing aid in any liquid.

  • Keep your hearing aids away from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
The heat may deform the shell, damage the electronics and deteriorate the surfaces.

  • Do not swim, shower or steam bathe while wearing your hearing aids.

  • Keep hearing aids away from children and pets.
Cats and dogs frequently chew on hearing aids if left unattended, often beyond repair!

FAQS

Hearing aids take time and patience to use successfully.
Wearing your aids regularly will help you adjust to them.
You may experience some of the following problems as you adjust to wearing your new aid.

  • My hearing aid feels uncomfortable.
Some individuals may find a hearing aid to be slightly uncomfortable at first.
Ask your audiologist how long you should wear your hearing aid while you are adjusting to it.

  • My voice sounds too loud.
The “plugged-up” sensation that causes a hearing aid user‘s voice to sound louder inside the head is called the occlusion effect, and it is very common for new hearing aid users.
Check with your audiologist to see if a correction is possible.
Most individuals get used to this effect over time.

  • I get feedback from my hearing aid.
A whistling sound can be caused by a hearing aid that does not fit or work well or is clogged by earwax or fluid.

  • I hear background noise.
A hearing aid does not completely separate the sounds you want to hear from the ones you do not want to hear.
Sometimes, however, the hearing aid may need to be adjusted.
