Product Information
The Extra Duty Plastic In-Use Covers are listed under File No. E362580. They come in three different variations: 1-Gang Extra Duty In-Use Cover 18 in 1, 2-Gang Extra Duty In-Use Cover 45 in 1, and Superflex Item No. 1GWIUXD. The 1-Gang Extra Duty In-Use Cover 18 in 1 can be mounted horizontally or vertically and fits a full-size padlock. The 2-Gang Extra Duty In-Use Cover 45 in 1 comes with various configurations of GFCI Duplex Switch Rounds. All covers must be marked Extra-Duty if installed in a wet location using a 15 or 20-amp receptacle. The covers come in three different colors: Gray, White, and Clear/Gray. The 1-Gang Extra Duty In-Use Cover 18 in-1 comes in Gray or White and is available in a package of 10. The Superflex Item No. 1GWIUXD comes in Clear/Gray and is available in a package of 6. According to the National Electrical Code 2014 Edition, all 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt nonlocking-type receptacles installed in a wet location shall be listed as weather-resistant type. An outlet box hood installed for this purpose shall be listed and shall be identified as extra duty.
Product Usage Instructions
The Extra Duty Plastic In-Use Covers are designed to protect electrical outlets from moisture when used in damp or wet locations. Follow these steps to use the covers:
- Choose the appropriate cover based on the number of gangs required and the configuration of GFCI Duplex Switch Rounds.
- Ensure that the cover is marked Extra-Duty if it will be installed in a wet location using a 15 or 20-amp receptacle.
- Mount the cover horizontally or vertically using the appropriate mounting hardware.
- If using a padlock, ensure that it fits the full-size padlock opening on the cover.
- Insert the electrical outlet and attach the cover to the outlet box using the provided screws.
- Ensure that the cover is securely attached to the outlet box and that there are no gaps between the cover and the box.

406.9 Receptacles in Damp or Wet Locations
- Wet Locations.
- Receptacles of 15 and 20 Amperes in a Wet Location. 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt receptacles installed in a wet location shall have an enclosure that is weatherproof whether or not the attachment plug cap is inserted
- An outlet box hood installed for this purpose shall be listed and shall be identified as “extra duty.” All 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt nonlocking-type receptacles shall be listed as weather-resistant type.
All While In Use Covers installed in a Wet Location using a 15 or 20-amp receptacle must be marked “Extra-Duty”
