IMPORTANT REMINDER

  1. If your vehicle is exposed to direct sunlight which causes excessive heat in the vehicle, then you should wait for a lower temperature to operate this head unit.
  2. If the machine does not have power, Please check the connection status and see whether everything is normal. Check the fuse.
  3. When playing from a USB, please be careful not to enter a damaged file. To prevent damage from the machine. Unplug the USD / SD card if it’s not been used for a long time.
  4. Avoid shorting. Do not place metal objects (screws, coins) and other components into the unit.
  5. Before installation, please pay attention to the wiring diagram and connectivity. Avoid short-circuit.
  6. The unit can play MP3 / WMA music format. Do not open a picture or video on this unit. The unit will display MP3/WMA which is being played currently.
  7. This unit supports Bluetooth calling and music playback from your phone. The unit however does not support a phone book function. The incoming/outgoing number
    will be displayed and read aloud by the unit.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

  • Choose a mounting location where the unit will not interfere with the normal driving functions.

  • Before finally installing the unit, connect the wiring temporarily and make sure it is all connected properly and the unit and the system work properly.

  • Use only the parts included with the unit to ensure proper installation. The use of unauthorized parts can cause malfunction.

  • Consult with your nearest dealer if installation requires the drilling of holes or other modifications in the vehicle.

  • Install the unit where it does not get in the driver’s way and cannot injure the passenger if there is a sudden stop, like an emergency stop.

  • If the installation angle exceeds 30° from the horizontal, the unit might not function optimally.

  • Avoid installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, such as from ta an altas temperaturas, Como la luz solar direct sunlight, or hot air, from the heater, or where it would be subject to dust, dirt, or excessive vibration.

DIN FRONT /REAR-MOUNT

This unit can be properly installed either from “Front” (conventional DIN Front-mount) or “Rear” (DIN Rear-mount installation, utilizing threaded screw holes at the sides of the unit chassis). For details, refer to the following illustrated installation methods.

DIN FRONT-MOUNT (METHOD A) INSTALLATION OPENING
This unit can be installed on any dashboard having an opening as shown below:

INSTALLING THE UNIT

Be sure you test all connections first, and then follow these steps to install the unit.

  1. Make sure the ignition is turned off, and then disconnect the cable from the (-) negative terminal of the vehicle’s battery. If an existing radio is installed, than remove it before installing this new one, refer to the old radio manufacturer’s manual for more info.

  2. Disconnect the wire harness and the antenna.

  3. Lift the top of the outer trim ring then pull it out to remove it.

  4. Mount the cage by inserting the cage into the opening of the dashboard and bending open the tabs located around the cage with a screwdriver. Not all tabs will be able to
    make contact, so examine which ones will be most effective. Bend open the appropriate tabs behind the dashboard to secure the cage in place.

  5. Reconnect the wire harness and the antenna and be careful not to pinch any wires or cables.

  6. Slide the unit into the cage until it locks into place.

  7. To further secure the unit, use the supplied metal strap to secure the back of the unit in place. Use the supplied hardware (Hex Nut and Spring Washer) to attach one end of the strap to the mounting bolt on the back of the unit. If necessary, bend the metal strap to fit your vehicle’s mounting area. Then use the supplied hardware (Tapping Screw (5x25mm) and Plain Washer) to attach the other end of the metal strap to a solid metal part of the vehicle under the dashboard. This strap also helps ensure proper electrical grounding of the unit. (Optional).
    Note: To install the short thread terminal of the mounting bolt to the back of the unit and the other long thread terminal to the dashboard. (Optional)

  8. Reconnect the cable to the vehicle battery’s negative (-) terminal. Install the outer trim ring and the unit’s front panel (see the steps for “installing the front panel”).

REMOVING THE UNIT

  1. Make sure the ignition is turned off, then disconnect the cable from the vehicle battery’s negative (-) terminal.

  2. Remove the metal strap attached to the back of the unit (if attached).

  3. Press the release button to remove the front panel.

  4. Lift the top of the outer trim ring then pull it out to remove it.

  5. Insert both of the supplied keys into the slots at the middle left and right sides of the unit, then pull the unit out of the dashboard (Not applicable for all models).

DIN REAR-MOUNT (METHOD B)

Fastening the unit to the factory radio mounting bracket:

  1. Select a position where the screw holes of the bracket and the screw holes of the main unit become aligned (are fitted), and tighten the screws at 2 places on each side. Use either truss screws (5 x 5mm) or flush surface screws (4 x 5mm)

PIN (4) YELLOW: Memory Back-up, Connect it to a constant 12V source or (+) battery terminal.
PIN (5) BLUE: Remote Amp: Connect it to the remote input of the amplifier to turn on.
PIN (7) RED: Accessories switch input, connect it to the ignition switch or accessories (+) source to turn on/off the radio with the Ignition switch.
PIN (8) BLACK: Ground, Connect it to the metal chassis or a (-) battery terminal.
SPEAKER CABLE CONNECTION: this Radio is designed to use speakers with an impedance of 4 – 8 Ohm.
SPEAKER CONNECTOR: follow the right color with the speaker position.
Pin (1) Purple: Rear Right (+) Positive
Pin (2) Purple/Black: Rear Right (-) Negative
Pin (3) Gray: Front Right (+) Positive
Pin (4) Gray/Black: Front Right (-) Negative
Pin (5) White: Front Left (+) Positive
Pin (6) White/Black: Front Left (-) Negative
Pin (7) Green: Rear Left (+) Positive
Pin (8) Green/Black: Rear Left (-) Negative

Disconnect before making the speaker connections to avoid shorting.

NOTE: Do not use the speakers connected to the ground or a body or touched one another. Do not combine with the power cord, as this may cause damage to the internal amplifier.
To Replace the fuse that had gone bad, remove first the bad and replace it with a new fuse with the same capacity on the fuse holder next to the power connector.

PANEL FUNCTION

  1. Press once to turn ON or OFF

  2. Mute: press to mute the audio output, and press again to unmute.

  3. Radio Mode
    • Press and hold until MANUAL appear to manually decrease the frequency. Or repeat press and hold until AUTO appears to decrease the frequency automatically.
    • Playback mode Press to begin the track again or press twice to skip to the previous track.

  4. Radio Mode
    • Press and hold until MANUAL appear to manually increase the frequency. Or repeat press and hold until AUTO appears to increase the frequency automatically.
    • Playback mode Press to skip to the next track.

  5. IR sensor

  6. LCD Display

  7. AUX: connect your devices using the 3.5mm jack audio/headphones output to this auxiliary audio input.

  8. USB Charging port: use this only for charging your devices.

  9. USB port: Use this to play music or audio files from a USB storage.

  10. Press to view the Clock on display and hold to set:
    • Turn the knob (11) to change the hour, then press (11) to change the minutes, and press again (11) to return to the hour or back to minutes.
    • To finalize and save time, press (10) again to exit.
    BT CONNECTION
    Turn on the unit, find the Bluetooth name “DS18 SDX1M” in your phone then click to connect. Once connected, the BT icon on the screen of the device will stop flashing. Press “BAND” to respond and “Mode” to finish a phone call.

  11. Turn the knob left / right to increase/decrease the volume or press the knob to switch between
    BUTTONS COLOR: AUTO, BLUE, GREEN, CYAN, RED, PURPLE, YELLOW, WHITE.
    VOL: Adjust general volume output (0-40).
    BAS: EQ adjusts Low frequency (-7-+7).
    TRE: EQ adjust High frequency (-7-+7).
    BAL• Adjust the Balance level (LEFT to RIGHT).
    FAD: Adjust the Fader level (FRONT to REAR).
    LOUD: Loudness function (ON/OFF).
    EQ: Change the equalizer preset (OFF, CLASSIC, POP, ROCK, JAZZ, FLAT)
    FM SENSITIVITY: (DX/LOCAL).
    FM MODE: (STEREO/MONO).
    SUB: Subwoofer output (ON/OFF).
    SUB2: Subwoofer 2 output (ON/OFF)
    SUB: Subwoofer level control (0-20) CUT: Subwoofer LPF frequency (80/120/160)

  12. Media Mode: • Press to switch between media RADIO – USB – SD – BT – AUXIN Phone (BT) mode • Press to answer call

  13. Radio Mode
    • Press to switch between radio band FM1 – FM2 – FM3 or press and hold for automatic radio stations to scan and save. Playback Mode
    • Press to select songs (use 20 or 19 to select the position of the digit, turn the knob (11) to select the number, then press 11 to confirm to play the track. Phone (BT) Mode • Press to end call.

    • Press to PAUSE/PLAY

  21.  SD: Slot to insert a micro SD card with Music or Audio files to play it directly from SD source/mode

TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. Power is not enough?
    Box Fuse: make sure there’s no short-circuiting between the wires; replace the old fuse with the appropriate capacity. ACC position Auto Ignition System: hints the same cable connected to the battery. A memory is connected to the power lines and the positive power supply.

  2. The off button doesn’t work
    Press the reset button on the panel. If it still does not work, unplug the power and plug it in again after a while.

  3. No response after pressing LOUD
    on some conditions for the selection of the source to adjust the tuning source, without any bass compensation.

  4. Silence or noise
    Balance or control sound settings are set on one side, and fader and balance settings at the center position. The cable input/output cable is connected properly.

  5. The sound quality (distortion)
    Speaker wires are pinched by a screw. Recheck the speaker cable and the output terminal of the speaker.

  6. Poor radio reception
    Check if the antenna is under normal conditions. Check if the antenna socket is either with or without contact.

WARRANTY

Should your SDX1M require service please consult with the dealer from which it was purchased, or contact the DS18 local dealer. Do not attempt to return your amplifier directly to us without first calling for a Return Authorization Number. Units received without an accompanying Return Authorization Number will be processed more slowly. Additionally, you must include a copy of your purchase receipt from an authorized dealer for consideration of in-warranty service; otherwise, repair charges will apply. Units received without a receipt will be held for 30 days, allowing us time to contact you and obtain a copy of the receipt. After 30 days, all units will be returned.
