SPECIFICATIONS
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
-
Turn off power to outlet.
-
This device shall be mounted at a sufficient height from grade such that the height of the storage means for the coupling device is located between 600 mm (24 inches) and 1.2 m (4 feet) from grade.
-
Locate power outlet and mount unit within reach of the power cord. It is recommended that at least two of the mounting screws fasten into a wall stud, plywood or other material capable of supporting the charger..
-
Utilize the mounting plate as a hole guide and drill holes 3/8” diameter to a depth of 2” for holes in drywall or masonry.
-
Insert the plastic anchors into the holes and then mount the plate using the included screws.
-
If the desired location of the connector holster and cable hook is right below the charger hang it on the bottom of the mounting plate and use at least one screw to hold it in place.
-
If the desired location of the connector holster and cable hook is to the side of the charger use the included anchors and screws to mount with a least two of the mounting hold in material capable of supporting the cable.
-
Remove the small back cover on the back of the charger and set the Amperage of the charger to a maximum of the allowable charger amp for the circuit breaker on the circuit.
Replace the small cover. -
Align the top rear notch of charger into the wall-mounted bracket and the insert the two screws into the bottom of the charger through the holes in the bottom of the mounting plate.
-
Hang cable on hook and place connector into holster
-
It is recommended that the circuit breaker be non-GFCI since the charger has that protection and GFCI breakers can cause nuisance tripping
-
Plug charger into NEMA 14-50 receptacle with 200-240V and turn on power
OPTIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR HARD WIRING
-
This charger may be hardwired by a qualified electrician
-
Open the front cover by removing the front cover ring screw and then the screws holding the front cover on.
-
Remove the power supply cable
-
Power may be supplied from the back or bottom of the unit and must follow local and national codes.
-
If providing power from the bottom use the hold vacated by the power cable.
-
If providing power from the back remove the grommet on the back hole and move to the bottom hole before running power.
-
Conductors must be sized correctly to supply the needed amperage, we recommend minimum of 6 AWG, 90⁰C copper conductor for up to 48A of power.
-
Strip 1/2” of insulation and insert conductors into the terminals following the diagram:
-
Tighten the terminals to 45 in-lb.
-
Replace the front cover and front cover ring.
WIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR COMMERIAL OR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS
Key Requirements
- EV chargers shall be on a dedicated electrical circuit.
-
Each charger shall be protected with a 2-pole common trip circuit breaker (non-GFCI type) as indicated by the below table:
Circuit Breaker RequirementCharger (A)| 24| 32| 40| 48
Circuit Breaker (A)| 30| 40| 50| 60 - Each charger is designed to draw a maximum of 48 amps.
- Each charger can operate on either a 240V or 208V circuit.
- Each charger requires three electrical supply wires (two hot, one ground, no neutral).
Wiring Diagram
Connect breezEV chargers to any one of the power sources as shown:
- 208 VAC three phase, Delta system, Center tap grounded (use only two phases)
- 208 VAC three phase, Wye system (use only two phases)
- 240 VAC single phase
In a delta system, connect the breezEV station only to a center-tapped
grounded transformer only as shown below. Connect the station to the side
where ground is bonded (in figure C line A and C). This allows voltages to
remain constant regardless of other loads that may be using the lines. Please
do not connect to other type of power sources shown below:
