Installation Instructions

Note:
These nstructions outline the recommended installation procedure. However,
they do not cover all details or variations in equipment, nor do they provide
for every possible contingency to be met in connection with installation. For
questions or assistance, contact a qualified electrical contractor.
WARNING
Failure to install and use this product in accor-dance with all applicable
ratings, instructions and the National Electrical Code°, could result in death
or serious Injury to the installer or other persons, or substantial property
damage.
Only persons familiar with the construction and op-eration of the equipment
and the hazards involved should install this product If there we any ratings,
instructions or Code requirements which you do not understand, consult a
qualified electrical contractor or inspector before installing this product.
IMPORTANT
Pythium-based chemical solvent paints of arty type, water and various other
contaminants can damage the interior components of this product. Do not allow
these contaminants to contact the Enteric( components. Be sure any cable
connection to tie top of the endostre uses proper fittings and es permanently
sealed to pre-vent water entry. If the meter socket is to supply a load center
or other equipment at a Sewer elevation, con-nect the service cable or conduit
to one of the lower knockouts of the bed center or equipment to ensure
rainwater leakage cannot damage the circuit breakers or Wier components.
GENERAL
Refer to the label on the inside of the enclosure for product ratings, acceptable components and acces-sories. and specific application requirements. Meter sockets generally must be approved by the serving utility. Check prior to installation.
MOUNT BOX – REMOVE KNOCKOUTS
First mount Line Trough Enclosure (Cat Type ULT) us-rig fasteners. Align
Vertical Meter Stacks (Cat. Types UVS) with openings in the mourted Lrie
Trough and attach with the provided hardware kits. Next, mount the Breaker
Trough (Cat. Type UBT) aligning its open-ings with the mounted Vertical Meter
Stacks. Attach with the provided hardware kits. Attach Enchvalls and Coupling
Kits as required with provided fasteners.
Required knockouts in the Breaker Trough and Endwalls (Cat. No. UEW1216) may
be removed prior to mount-ing. On multiple ring knockout design, first remove
Cen-ter section by striking at point furthest from tie (Figure 1). Bend back
and forth to break tie. Remove larger rings, one at a trne, by prying with
screwdriver and bend-rng back and forth with piers, as shown in Figure 2.

INSTALL PHASE BLOCK ASSEMBLIES & LINE TERMINALS
Install appropnata Phase Block Assertories (Cat. Type UPB) with provided
fasteners in suggested locations (see etath ed schematic). Remove keps nut and
washer from bolt and attach Line Terminals (Gat. Type ULK) as depicted n
schematic for applicable wire entry. Torque kegs nut with torque wrench to
210-230 lb-ins.
Use a 10- Line Trough Spacer Kit (Cat. No. ULT1OSP) when required to ensure
proper wire bending space.
PULL UNE CABLE – WIRE TERMINALS
Utilize proper fittings to secure and provide proper pro-tection to conductor
insulation.
Ground enclosure by connecting it to a metal raceway or metal: c cable sheath.
Pull applicable wire/cable into Line Trough and secure to appropriate Line
Terminals. When aluminum con-doctors are used, applicatory of a UL-Sited
conductor termination compound is recommended. Torque re-quirements for wire
binding screws are as follows:

Install Line Trogulid Cover and torque fasteners with torque *Trench to 24-30
lb- Lens_
WIRE VERTICAL METER STACKS
Refer to wire diagram
INSTALLING & WIRING BRANCH BREAKERS
Install and wire correct type branch crowd breakers (Fig. 3) in accordance MTh
wing diagram label requirements. AP electrical connections must be tightened
to roqute-ments as spec t6ed on wring diagram label and on each branch C Kai
it breaker label before energizing.
INSTALL COVER ON VERTICAL STACKS
Fasten the Meter Socket Cover to the enclosure. Pro-tect the interlor parts of
the socket from contaminates until the utility installs the meter.
REMOVE TWISTOUTS-INSTALL COVER FOR LOAD TROUGH
Remove the required twist outs by up and data) motion with pliers. !ROM
Trim/Door assembly with fasteners provided. Torque fasteners with torque
wrench to 24-30 lb-ins. All twist out openings must be closed with breakers or
Mier plates’.
