Thank you for purchasing the Physio Logic” Accuflex Pro Thermometer Please read the following instructions for safe use and accurate results Your thermometer features a comfortable, soft flexible tip, which conforms to the mouth during temperature readings. It is enhanced with beeper and memory
The following instructions will cover your thermometer’s features in further detail.

Precautions

  • The performance of the device may be impacted should one or more of the following ocCur:
  • Operation outside the manufacturer’s stated temperature and humidity range
  • Storage outside the manufacturer’s stated temperature and humidity range
  • Mechanical shock (for example, drop test) or degraded sensor
  • Patient temperature is below ambient temperature

Cleaning instructions

Before and after each use, clean the thermometer with a soft cloth and 70% isopropyl alcohol diluted with water, or wash with COLD Soapy water. An intact unit can be submersed in water or alcohol. However, do not soak in either for an extended period of time.

  1. The unit must never be sterilized by boiling, gas, or steam.
  2. The use of any other solution or dleaning method beyond the above mentioned may result in reliability problems with the thermometer and void its warranty.Taking an oral temperature (Blue model recommended)

How to take the patient’s temperature
Note: Drinking hot or cold fluids, exercising, smoking, or performing other activities may raise or lower body temperature. It is important to relax for approximately 5 minutes, mouth closed, prior to taking a reading.

  1. Place the probe tip under the tongue  as near as possible to the heat pocket,  close the patient’s mouth, and avoid moving the unit.
  2. Wait a few seconds and then press the ON/OFF button (the unit will beep)The thermometer will first show all displays, then 36.5 °C. The °C symbol will start flashing, which means it is now taking temperature.
  3. When the peak temperature has been reached, the °C will stop flashing The thermometer will beep four times quickly and display the temperature. The display will take a second or two to stabilize and show the final reading. Remove after temperature reading has stabilized.

Note: Temperature reading may increase even after the 4 beeps – if the thermometer is moved into a warmer heat pocket. If this happens, allow a few seconds for the thermometer to re-stabilize and show final reading. For an accurate reading, the patient’s mouth must remain closed during the measurement. Opening the mouth could result in an extended measurement time and may affect the reading.Taking a rectal temperature (Red model recommended) Rectal temperatures are an appropriate and reliable method for infants and small children. Otherwise, this method should only be used when it is impossible or impractical to take an oral or axillary temperature.

  1. Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the tip and insert the probe to a  MAXIMUM of 1/2″ (1.25 cm) into the rectum,
  2. Wait a few seconds and then press the ON/OFF button (the unit will beep). The thermometer will first show all displays, then 36.5 °C. The °C symbol will start flashing, which means it is now taking temperature.
  3. When the peak temperature has been reached, the °C will stop flashing. The thermometer will beep four times quickly and display the temperature The display will take a second or two to stabilize and show the final reading.  Remove after temperature reading has stabilized.

Note: Temperature reading may increase – even after the 4 beeps – if the thermometer is moved into a warmer place. If this happens, allow a few seconds for the thermometer to re-stabilize and show final reading.

Note: Rectal temperatures are generally 0.6°C (1.0°F) higher than oral readings.

Taking an axillary temperature (under the arm) (Red model recommended)

  1. Wipe the underarm with a dry towel.
  2. Place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin, with the thermometer perpendicular to the body.
  3. Position the arm across the chest so the probe tip is well covered by the arm. This also ensures that the probe is not affected by the room’s air.
  4. Wait a few seconds and then press the ON/OFF button (the unit will beep). The thermometer will first show all displays, then 36.5 °C. The°C symbol will start flashing, which means it is now taking temperature.
  5. When the peak temperature has been reached, the °C will stop flashing.
    • The thermometer will beep four times quickly and display the temperature.
    • The display will take a second or two to stabilize and show the final reading.
    • Remove after temperature reading has stabilized.

Note: Temperature reading may increase even after the 4 beeps – if the thermometer is moved into a warmer heat pocket. 3. Do not bite the probe.
  4. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust, or humidity. Avoid extreme temperatures
  5. Avoid dropping the thermometer or subjecting it to strong shock.
  6. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit, except to replace the battery.
  7. The thermometer should only be used under the supervision of an adult.
  8. Do not walk, run or talk during temperature taking.

Changing the battery

The battery in your digital thermometer needs to be replaced when the ” ” symbol appears in the middle right of the display. Replace it with a 1.55V, AG3 alkaline or SR41 silver oxide battery.

  1. Slide the battery cap away from the unit.
