Charging Your Power Companion
WARNING
To avoid injury and damaging your device, only use the power adapter of
your Dell computer.
Before first use, charge the power companion using the power adapter of your Dell computer.
- NOTE: It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the power companion.
- NOTE: You can charge your devices through the power companion while the power companion is getting charged.
- NOTE: The power adapter is not shipped with the power companion.
- Connect one end of the power adapter of your Dell computer to the power-in port of the power companion.
- Connect the power adapter of your Dell computer to an electrical outlet.
- The battery status light turns on (solid white) indicating the battery is getting charged. Refer to the “Checking Battery Charge Status” section for details.
- The battery-status lights turn off when the battery is fully charged or when the power adapter is disconnected.
- NOTE: If the amber battery status light lights up while the battery is charging, this indicates a charging error. Check if you are using the correct power adapter.
- NOTE: For more information on battery-status lights, see “Checking Battery Charge Status” on page 11.
Charging Your Device
Charging Your Laptop
- Connect one end of the power-output cable to the power-out port of the power companion.
- Connect the other end of the power-output cable to the power-adapter port of your laptop.
- Press the power button to start charging your laptop.
NOTE
The battery-status light blinks amber when the power companion battery is
low.
Charging Your Mobile Devices
Using the power companion, you can charge up to two portable devices
simultaneously.
- Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port on the power companion.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to the charging port of your mobile device.
- NOTE: The USB cable is not shipped with the power companion.
- NOTE: The battery status light blinks amber when the power companion battery is low.
Checking the Battery
Checking Battery Charge Status
You can check the battery-charge status by pressing the power button. The
battery-status lights turn on indicating the battery-charge status of the
power companion.
NOTE
The battery-status lights remain illuminated for 5 seconds after you
release the power button.
NOTE
All five battery-status lights turn off when the battery is fully charged.
Checking Battery Health
Battery health is a measurement reflecting the general condition of the
battery. It indicates how much battery life remains before the power companion
must be replaced.
NOTE
The units of SOH (State Of Health) are percentage (%) points.
A battery’s SOH is 100% at the time of manufacture and will deteriorate gradually with usage. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn on the power companion and check the battery health status.

The type of error condition table is shown below.
Attaching the Ferrite Core
To reduce electromagnetic interference, attach the supplied ferrite core on the power-output cable connected to your laptop.

Open the two halves of the ferrite core.

Clamp the core around the power-output cable as shown in the illustration

Fold over the ferrite core, snapping the small latches back together.
For PW7015M, attach the ferrite core to the power-out cable of your power companion when using a 90-watt power adapter. For PW7015L, attach the ferrite core to the power-out cable of your power companion for all types of power adapters.

It comes with two charging cables, the 7.4 mm (older style) and the 4.5 mm which the newer units are using, These are barrel-style plugs.
Is this good to use if my internal laptop battery is shot? It just doesn’t charge anymore and I always need to plug my laptop in, to use it.
Yes, it should work for that. It will at least make your laptop more portable again.
Is it possible to charge this via 12v?

No. The power uses the same ac adapter as your laptop/notebook for charging.

Yes, from everything that I’ve read, it’s good to go on a plane. Safe travels!
Does this product also need its charger? Which one?
It does not. It uses your existing DELL laptop charger for charging the brick.
Does it good for a Dell Latitude 7400?
It works for my Dell XPS 15.
Does it work on Inspirion 13 5378 2 in 1 laptop?
It should. It came out when the laptop came out. I have this laptop too and I was looking for a powerbank for it too. Because this laptop is built well unlike new laptops. So, yes this should work and should come with the cable for it.
what type of cords are included, and does it support Dell xps 15 9560?
The box includes the power bank barrel and 2 external charging cables. It will support Dell XPS 15 9560.

Yes, as long as the portable power device is charged it should work perfectly for keeping a laptop charged.

I looked up the replacement power supply for that unit and it shows a 4.5 mm barrel plug for power. That Power companion will work with it.
