IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

  1. Disconnect power by turning off the circuit breaker or by removing the fuse at the fuse box.
  2. Ensure wiring and outlet box are compliant with national and local electrical codes, including the NEC. SkyOutlet requires installation on the branch circuit (Solid 12 or 14 AWG wire) and should be installed by a qualified person or electrician.
  3. Total Wattage should not exceed 240 Watts incandescent and for LED fixtures or LED bulbs,120Watts.
  4. Use standard incandescent light bulbs or LED light bulbs rated as dimmable.
  5. Do not use this Smart Lighting Base with a dimmer. All dimming functions are built into the smart board and can be controlled from the SkyHome App.
  6. Do not wire the Smart Lighting Base to a DC LED driver or ballast. For AC LED only.
  7. For indoor use.
  8. For cord suspended fixtures – Do not use with luminaire weight greater than 5 Ibs for SVT and10 lbs for SJT cord and use overhand knot for strain relief.
  9. For chain or metal rod suspended fixtures Suitable for luminaire support max.50 lbs.
  10. Save Quick Start Guide with QR code in case needed for future customer service use.

Important Steps Before Beginning Installation

Identify your wall switch type.
Dimmer switches are not recommended to be used with the smart controller.

Ensure your light fixture total wattage load does not exceed 240 watts.
Calculate the total wattage and use LED bulbs to reduce the wattage if needed.

Ensure your light fixture is compatible.

  • Compatible with hanging or semi-flush fixtures suspended by chain, cord or metal rod.
  • Contains incandescent or LED light bulbs rated as dimmable.
  • For control of AC LED and incandescent lamp fixtures only.
  • Not for use with DC LED fixtures with a driver .

Prepare for SkyOutlet Installation

SkyOutlet Wiring and Installation

IMPORTANT : Disconnect power by turning off the circuit breaker or by removing the fuse at the box. (All electrical steps should be performed by a qualified person or electrician.
Wire SkyOutlet to ceiling junction box.

Secure SkyOutlet to outlet box using 2 screws and washers (included).

Secure cover plate as shown.

Assemble Smart Lighting Base to Light Fixture

  1. Prepare your light fixture and remove original canopy parts if needed. You will be using the new canopy and fixture parts from the kit to attach to your chain, cord or metal rod lighting fixture.

  2. Determine desired fixture hanging height and wire length. Leave at least 6 inches of wire from canopy for making electrical connection.

  3. When ready to begin, select the adaptor parts from the kit for your type of fixture.

  4. Place Finial Nut & Lighting Base Parts down the chain, rod or cord in the order as shown. Insert fixture wire through Finial.

  5. Wire the Smart Controller.

  6. 5A Remove 1 screw from wireway cover to access terminals.

  7. 5B Follow Steps 6A, 6B or 6C for assembly and wiring to your specific fixture type (Chain, Rod and Cord).

  8. 5C Electrical Connection Information. Insert wires into the terminal: Live into L Neutral into N Ground into G.

  9. Attach Smart Controller to Light Fixture.
    A – Chain Fixtures
    Before cutting wires, recheck wire length for desired fixture height.

  10. A1 Route wire through metal U shape opening in wire tunnel. Attach chain finial to controller, turning to secure in place. Do not overtighten. Cut excess wire and strip the leads.

  11. A2 See step 5C for additional wiring info. Loosen terminal screws and insert wires into the terminal: Live into L, Neutral into N, Ground into G. Tighten screws to secure wire and close cover.

  12. А3 Attach assembled unit to chain using quick link. (Included)

Metal Rod Fixtures
Before cutting wires, recheck wire length for desired fixture height.

  1. Route wire through metal U shape opening in wire tunnel. Attach finial (with metal rod and fixture attached) to controller. Turn Pendant Finial to secure in place. Do not overtighten. Cut excess wire and strip the leads.
  2. See step 5C for adational wiring information. Loosen terminal screws and insert wires into the terminal. Live into L, Neutral into N, Ground into G. Tighten screws to secure wire and close cover.

Cord Suspended Fixtures
Before cutting wires, recheck wire length for desired fixture height.

  1. Route wire through metal U shape opening in wire tunnel. Attach finial (with cord and fixture attached) to controller. Turn to secure in place. Do not overtighten. Cut excess wire and strip the leads. ****
  2. See the mina Live in Lieutral imai, Ground interminal screws and insert wires. Tighten screws to secure wire and close cover.

Installation of Fixture with Smart Kit

  1. After assembling the Smart Lighting Base to the fixture, install the fixture.
  2. Once the Smart Controller is installed, slide the Lighting Base up to the ceiling surface and secure in place with the finial nut, aligning the antenna hole and center hole.

Smart Initiation

Now that your fixture is installed, it’s time to make it Smart!

  1. Open the SkyHome App and follow the steps to connect the fixture and add a device to the App.

  2. You’ll see the night light illuminate once installed.
    Indication LED light:

  3. Blue – unit is in pairing mode.

  4. Green – unit is connected to WiFi.

  5. Red – unit is disconnected from WiFi.
    Note : To initiate Smart, the wall switch for the light fixture must be in the ON position.

  6. Once connected you’ll be able to control your light fixture, color changing night light, and many other great features from the SkyHome App.

Removing Skyplug Smart Fixtures

  1. Loosen finial nut and allow canopy to drop down.
  2. Release the fixture from ceiling.
  3. The small cap is available to cover up the receptacle when not in use.

Additional Wiring Diagram

IMPORTANT : If you have multiple wires inside your outlet box, you will need to determine which lead is the live or switched lead and insert this lead into L1. If you are not sure how your house is wired, contact 1-866-885-4649 for questions or contact an electrician. When multiple wires are connected together use a solid wire 12 or 14 AWG JUMPER LEAD (included) to insert into the receptacle terminal. Do not use L2.

NOTE : If you have multiple wires connected together, add the included JUMPER LEAD and insert jumper lead into terminal. Only one single wire can be inserted into terminal (See diagram 3-5).
